I understand it's easy to lose drive when you're constantly drilling scales and fingering. I try to frame all of my lessons in reference to what music really is: the creation of songs. Through composition, my students won't just learn scale and chord structure, but they'll organically develop these skills while writing their own songs and building their personal portfolio.

About Peter

Over the past 10 years, I've worked as a professional touring musician (singer, guitarist, pianist) for the rock band, Inside Switch. I studied piano at the Dallas, Texas School of Music. I also attended the James Madison University music program. I have played piano for 20 years and guitar for 15.

What I Learned From Peter.

- THE METRONOME IS SO IMPORTANT
- The voice guides the guitar if you’re more of a singer
- Repetition is key
- Practice songs that aren’t in your style to ease your way into guitar
- The power resides in strumming rhythmically
- Focus is more difficult that it seems when combining singing and guitar
- Guitar is an art in itself and itself you shouldn’t master guitar, you should be it’s friend.
- Open mics and video content are the key to more success as they expose you to criticism (good or bad)
Again, the guitar is your companion.

For any aspiring musician or any musician that needs guidance and improvement on the guitar, Peter is a great teacher.

Peter is very patient and great teaching my 9yr old son. We take father and son lessons together which has been amazing. Peter is naturally talented and plays many other instruments all in from his home studio. He is also extremely flexible and accommodating. Highly recommended!

I start from scratch with every student, and create a plan based on their goals, experience, and preferred music styles. No two students have the same lesson.

Additionally, because the jazz school I attended gave students very strong instruction in harmony and ear-training, I teach students not just how to read notes, but to understand what they're playing so they can be more creative and versatile. Moreover, I encourage students to feel comfortable making mistakes in a safe environment so they can step outside of their comfort zone.

About Marshal

I've been involved with music for nearly my whole life. I started out with Suzuki violin lessons and then switched to the piano when I was in the 2nd grade and have been performing, studying, composing, and teaching ever since. I graduated from Yale with a Bachelor's in History and afterward e

I was raised in the Suzuki method, trained in it, and I believe in it. It is the most effective school of education for new musicians who want to learn reliably. I've been teaching it 9 years.

I can talk to you for days about the method, but I will sum it up as quickly as i can.

1: Immersion
2: Daily Practice
3: Listening
4: Strong relationship between student, teacher and parent.

If the student listens everyday, practices everyday, practices what i tell them, and is made to love the music, you will learn. I've taught hundreds of students this way and when all the conditions are met, all my students have had success.

Piano lessons are structured with a focus on what the student needs. We ensure a strong with a foundation of scales, note reading, and ear training, to give the student the versatility to go in any musical direction they like, and make them a well rounded musician. The books I usually begin in for piano will either be Suzuki book 1 for piano or "Adventures ...

Dan is a great musician, who helped me grasp all of the musical concepts I struggled with. He is an encouraging teacher who sets realistic expectations and wants to see you succeed. How to Read Sheet Music for Piano: A Visual Tour

As you learn how to read piano sheet music, a whole new world opens up! Instead of just black dots on a page, you'll see beautiful melody and chords right before you. Here, piano teacher Nadia B. takes you on a helpful visual tour...    One of the most interesting things about learning piano is that it’s truly like learning a new language – just as you learn how to decode words on a page to read them aloud, you are learning to unlock the symbols on the page to play music. 5 Exercises for Faster Fingers When Teaching Yourself Piano

So you've started piano lessons and you're in it for the long haul... but playing the same exercises over and over again is starting to get boring. We understand. No one goes to the gym and does the same routine day in and day out. Why should you have to trudge your way through the same repetitive piano exercises over and over? Teaching yourself piano requires a bit of creativity in this respect. So crack your knuckles, climb down off the top of the piano before you scratch the surface, and g …

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?

Wondering about the average piano tuning cost, or how often you should tune a piano? You've come to the right place! Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear, that your piano drops in pitch particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the …
