I have been teaching the wonderful instrument of the piano for four years.

For children, I use the Alfred Piano Series lesson books that includes lessons and homework in a fun and engaging way to promote retention.

For beginners, I use the publication A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony to learn chord progressions, sequences, modulations, realization of both figured and un-figured basses, basic improvisation, and score reading. Learning these techniques will help transition students seamlessly to various styles and genres that incorporate the piano, helping you learn and love the piano without frustrating stoppages that often lead us away from lesson continuity.

From there, I utilize the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library series to promote chord inversion, syncopation, arpeggiation, pedaling, and key centering.

About Milton
Hey there, everyone!

My name is Milton Carl Jackson II and I teach vocal, guitar, piano, and musical theatre lessons in the Inland Empire area.

I help those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young tap into their own soul through music so that they may help others find theirs as well. I believe that in order to entertain others with your voice or your instrument, one must first be able to entertain oneself - all the while having fun doing it! As a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis with a double major in Music History & Ethnomusicology and African-American & African Studies; a former co-host of the popular hip-hop radio show ATF Radio: All Things Fresh on KDVS 90.3 FM; a former Music Director of The Afterglow of UC Davis; and a recent graduate of American University with a Master's of Education in Business Education
, I have come in contact and learned from a vast amount of different musicians and educators. A classically-trained bass-baritone with roots in R&B, Soul, Rock, Pop, and Jazz, I have aspirations to help each and every student realize their full musical potential.

If you're looking for a teacher who will motivate and inspire you not only to learn your instrument of choice, but also how to perform it (whether on the big stage or in your living room for the family) and record it as well, I'm the perfect teacher for you. Learning to sing, play, and act beautifully doesn't have to be difficult -- we'll work on finding your voice or your style, all while having fun along the way!

I teach in-studio, in-home, and online lessons, so we can be flexible with the lesson type and schedule!

This is a perfect chance for you or your child who can't stop singing around the house or has dreams of shredding on the guitar or twinkling on the ivories to learn the fundamentals of music, start something new that keeps them or you focused, and have fun while doing it!

Feel free to contact me at show contact info for any questions and check out my student reviews and qualifications.

I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you or your child on your musical journey!!

Ever meet someone who took years of piano lessons but never plays? Those are not my students! I make piano easy and fun to learn. Learn the songs you know and love and throw away those boring method books! Piano can be one of the easiest instruments to learn when approached the right way

About Ken
I've been playing music my whole life, but it was as a high school student when I was asked to teach the school's guitar class that I became a teacher. Since that time I've gone on to earn several awards, played in many different types of projects, and earned a Master's degree. You might have heard my music before too if you've ever listened to a podcast, TV commercials, Indy films, or played any video games. My most successful student thus far however, would have to be Jacob Tilley from the rock band Young the Giant.

Not everybody wants to be a rock star though, and there are many aspects to the world of music. During the course of my musical adventure I've played with orchestras, been in rock, bluegrass, reggae, pop and blues bands, classical ensembles and more. I have also had the opportunity to play for celebrities and diploma
ts. Basically I've done a little of everything and I believe that it is this diversity of experiences that makes me a better teacher. Having worked in so many settings gives me a broad understanding that I use to help you reach whatever goals you might have.

I have also become adept at writing, recording and producing music, studying under Frank Wright of the legendary rock band Chicago. If you have an interest in creating and/or recording music I can definitely help you get there! Check out my chill/downtempo instrumental album 'Night Music'.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can teach you about playing several different instruments, how to write, how to record your own music, and how to get your music career off the ground! As a youth, I was largely self-taught so my inspiration was always to have fun. I never had to deal with the 'homework' style of practicing so I've naturally incorporated that approach to my lessons. My goal is to keep you (the student) inspired and having fun. When that happens you will become good at your instrument and feel as though you 'played' your way to success! As your teacher I will also provide almost all of the materials for free and show you great free apps to help you along with your learning and keep costs to a minimum! I know we will have fun together while you learn and I look forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, piano/keyboard, drums, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and a ProTools recording studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide the learning materials but I expect the student to have their own instrument, be that a guitar, drum set, etc.

*** Specialties ***
Commercial music is definitely my specialty, but I am also capable of doing various styles such as classical, bluegrass, traditional/folk. Just focus on what you want to learn and I can teach it to you.

I have been taking banjo lessons from Ken for 5 months. As an adult learner, I was concerned about finding the right person to take lessons from, and Ken has been wonderful. He paces our lessons well so I don't feel too overwhelmed. He is proficient in the banjo and other instruments so I'm getting well-balanced instruction. He is also very flexible with my schedule and adapts our lessons based on my progress. Ken really does deserve all of these 5-star recommendations.

During my lessons, my student should expect to leave feeling confident and that he or she has learned something new. My students will always be making constant progress!

About Katie
I have been teaching young students piano for seven years. I have completed my education for a music education degree, and am the former president of the Cal State Piano Society. I have been playing piano for nineteen years and love every aspect of music. My goal is to pass my passion for music onto my students, and allow them to develop a deep appreciation and understanding for all genres.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a strong believer in making the learning process fun and enjoyable. I want my students to be motivated to learn and practice as much as possible. My teaching style consists of starting with the basics (technique, theory, and reading music) then graduating to style and phrasing. My students will always leave our lessons feeling accomplished and confident. Learning an instrument is hard work, but with enough effort a
nd commitment, anything is possible!

*** How Long of a Lesson? ***
For very young beginners, I recommend 15 minutes. For beginners, I recommend 30 minutes. For intermediate, we can do 30 to 45 to 60 minutes. For advanced, you would benefit from 45 to 60 minutes. If you are beginner and want to have a 45 or 60 minute lesson, each lesson will focus on any of these categories: technique, repertoire, theory, ear training, and listening.

***Cancellation Policy***
Please notify me at least ONE HOUR before the lesson if you need to cancel to avoid charges. I may or may not be able to reschedule, and I will allow up to one month for a makeup lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baldwin Upright Piano
Various Piano Books
Metronome
Internet access for resources

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect all music students to provide a piano and the required materials (i.e. metronome and specific music books)

Tutoring: Please provide the class work, assignments, and projects for the subjects that need tutoring (if possible).

*** Specialties ***
I believe that technique is very important when it comes to piano. I start with teaching the basic scales, hand positions, and good posture. Then I begin teaching music theory, in which the student learns how to read notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc. Once the student becomes proficient in reading and technique, I give them more difficult pieces in order to work on style, voicing, and phrasing.

I have been teaching piano since I graduated high school, and will continue to do so until I graduate with a music major in college. I teach out of plenty of different books, depending on age level and learning style. I teach from my own home, the music store in Redlands, and can even travel for lessons for a small fee. What I teach and the way I teach is dependent on the student, and what I believe will be useful for them moving forward. But, the most important aspect is fun!

About Dominic
Hi! My name is Dominic and I'm a lifelong lover of music. I've found through experience with studios, other musicians, and professional teachers, that teaching music is what I want to do. I have a huge passion to help students stay interested and engaged, because I believe that if a student loves what they are doing, they WILL become great at it. I would love to cultivate that success! Students will be taught theory, technique, and performance skills. These skills are vital to a students growth, and will be a major focus in my lessons. They will also learn to play music that they enjoy, alongside practical repertoire. I teach beginning piano, violin, ukulele, and guitar lessons. If you're looking for someone with a flexible schedule, lessons offered on and offline, and a passion for teaching new skills, consider me as your teacher!

Ms. Cynthia has been working with my two kids (6 & 8) and me (age withheld) on a weekly basis for two months now and things are going very well. My children practice on their own with minimal prompting on my part.

My 8-year old, who had previously taken some introductory lessons with another instructor and quit, asked to have lessons with Ms. Cynthia after seeing me and my six-year-old take a few lessons with her. The change in my 8-year old has been dramatic, for whom learning piano has somehow gone from being a chore to something fun, and I give significant credit to Ms. Cynthia for that. We look forward to continuing to work with her.
