About Denise
I'€ve always had a love for music. When I was 8 years old, I taught myself how to read music before my first piano lesson because I was so excited to learn. I continued taking piano lessons throughout my school days and became involved in choir in high school.

When I began college I decided to study business. I auditioned for choir and realized that my dream was to become a music educator. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I studied piano, voice, clarinet, and music education. I had a lot of experience playing the piano and singing that I decided to learn the clarinet and join the concert band so I could have band experience. I was also involved in hand bell choir and continued to perform with the choir after I graduated. After graduating, I taught piano at various private eleme
ntary schools throughout San Diego. I also had the wonderful experience of being the pianist and vocal soloist at my church. I am a substitute teacher and have the opportunity to work with students from preschool to high school and am able to use my knowledge of each age group and school curriculum in teaching music.

"Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance" - Samuel Johnson

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are tailored to each individual student'€s needs. I think everyone is special and has their own unique way of learning and customized lessons should reflect that. I believe that music theory is important and I include that in lessons. For piano lessons I mainly use Alfred'€s piano books. In each lesson I will demonstrate the necessary skills in order for the students to feel comfortable in taking the music home to practice. For voice lessons I include vocalizations, vocal technique, and song study.

I want students to have fun with music. I am very patient and I think it'€s important to encourage and praise students. I hope to instill the desire to learn in each student.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room, full size keyboard for piano lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a portable keyboard.

I’m a beginner so Denise gave me a cd to practice my breathing and warm ups even when I’m not with her. THis was my first voice lesson so I don’t have much to compare her too but in my opinion she’s was very professional. I’ll deffinetly be going back to her In the future.

About Rhonda
With over 20 years of experience as a musician, piano teacher, and music director, I am able to explore all aspects of musical theory and make the piano an enjoyable and exciting instrument to learn to play.

My lessons will be rhythmically exciting, and never boring. I always have book lessons as well as personal musical pieces that the student would like to work on. I most often will incorporate ear training in all of my lessons without being obvious about it, as well as performance. I believe it should be music that speaks to the heart.

Not only will students achieve their goals in learning to play their favorite song or actually play well, they will find a peace and a calm in freely exploring the art of music. Whether they find it to be an escape from it all, or their future with a musical career, it shall be achieved.

D
id you know that a troubled child can find rest and recovery from getting involved in the arts, especially that of the piano? She has displayed her knowledge at church and in front of family and friends. I have also noticed that her math concepts have been strengthened. Our practices are always friendly, warm, encouraging, and uplifting.

During my lessons, my student should expect to leave feeling confident and that he or she has learned something new. My students will always be making constant progress!

About Katie
I have been teaching young students piano for seven years. I have completed my education for a music education degree, and am the former president of the Cal State Piano Society. I have been playing piano for nineteen years and love every aspect of music. My goal is to pass my passion for music onto my students, and allow them to develop a deep appreciation and understanding for all genres.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a strong believer in making the learning process fun and enjoyable. I want my students to be motivated to learn and practice as much as possible. My teaching style consists of starting with the basics (technique, theory, and reading music) then graduating to style and phrasing. My students will always leave our lessons feeling accomplished and confident. Learning an instrument is hard work, but with enough effort a
nd commitment, anything is possible!

*** How Long of a Lesson? ***
For very young beginners, I recommend 15 minutes. For beginners, I recommend 30 minutes. For intermediate, we can do 30 to 45 to 60 minutes. For advanced, you would benefit from 45 to 60 minutes. If you are beginner and want to have a 45 or 60 minute lesson, each lesson will focus on any of these categories: technique, repertoire, theory, ear training, and listening.

***Cancellation Policy***
Please notify me at least ONE HOUR before the lesson if you need to cancel to avoid charges. I may or may not be able to reschedule, and I will allow up to one month for a makeup lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baldwin Upright Piano
Various Piano Books
Metronome
Internet access for resources

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect all music students to provide a piano and the required materials (i.e. metronome and specific music books)

Tutoring: Please provide the class work, assignments, and projects for the subjects that need tutoring (if possible).

*** Specialties ***
I believe that technique is very important when it comes to piano. I start with teaching the basic scales, hand positions, and good posture. Then I begin teaching music theory, in which the student learns how to read notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc. Once the student becomes proficient in reading and technique, I give them more difficult pieces in order to work on style, voicing, and phrasing.

I have been teaching piano since I graduated high school, and will continue to do so until I graduate with a music major in college. I teach out of plenty of different books, depending on age level and learning style. I teach from my own home, the music store in Redlands, and can even travel for lessons for a small fee. What I teach and the way I teach is dependent on the student, and what I believe will be useful for them moving forward. But, the most important aspect is fun!

About Dominic
Hi! My name is Dominic and I'm a lifelong lover of music. I've found through experience with studios, other musicians, and professional teachers, that teaching music is what I want to do. I have a huge passion to help students stay interested and engaged, because I believe that if a student loves what they are doing, they WILL become great at it. I would love to cultivate that success! Students will be taught theory, technique, and performance skills. These skills are vital to a students growth, and will be a major focus in my lessons. They will also learn to play music that they enjoy, alongside practical repertoire. I teach beginning piano, violin, ukulele, and guitar lessons. If you're looking for someone with a flexible schedule, lessons offered on and offline, and a passion for teaching new skills, consider me as your teacher!

My lessons will consist of adaptive teaching. Depending on age, I will approach teaching in a manner to instill the knowledge for learning music notation along with the ability to play the piano. Beginners: Ages from 7-12 years old will start with basic fundamentals of music. This will be active lessons with learning both music notation and the piano until the student can apply both skills together. Any ages higher above 12, will be approach with a similar method of teaching if they are beginners. Music selection for the students can range from any sort of genre depending on the availability of sheet music. This way it can be taught with the appliance of music theory while learning their musicality. Age difference comes with different types of music. Which I believe effects all of us. So the best music to teach the students, is through that connection. However Classical teaching will be focused heavily, because I believe it's the foundation to playing music. My goal is to teach the ...

Piano Lessons should be FUN and something that the student looks forward to! It is NOT as hard to learn how to Play Piano as some people think it is, and it doesn't take years before you're able to play he songs YOU love! I have more than 40 years experience playing piano and have taught more than 100 students (kids AND adults) how to Play Piano! And taking lessons has never been as easy as it is now with webcams and an internet connection making it possible to take lessons from ANYWHERE!

About Teresa (Teri)
I am excited to have the opportunity to teach piano lessons to students who want to enrich their lives by learning this magical instrument! I can say with 100% confidence that I can customize an individual course of 'study' that will make it possible for ANY student to quickly and easily play piano utilizing methodology geared toward the student's own particular learning style.

Music is a language that, once the basics are understood, is simple to become fluent at. I, myself, began taking piano lessons when I was 12 years old and continued studying music in college where I studied piano pedagogy (teaching) and commercial recording arts in Southern California. Combining the traditional formal training I received in music theory, technique, composition, and performance with the ART of improvisation and 'playing by ear', I have developed
a method that makes it fun and simple to learn how to master the piano!

I look forward to interacting with many students here at Takelessons.com---including YOU!

Piano is an amazing instrument and has so much power. Have you wanted to learn your favorite songs? The piano is an easy instrument to start learning those and the way I focus on learning music is by focusing on the songs you like to play and listen to.

We focus on ear training, theory, proper practice techniques. We will learn excersizes to help us play with both hands better.

I also am a Jazz musician, so we can talk about imrovisation and comping as well

About Brandon
I am a professional Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute player. I have been composing my own music for video games and short films, and working as a mixing engineer for a couple years now, just really exploring many different aspects of music. I have a degree from Utah Valley University in Commercial Music, and spent most of that degree on the performance aspect of music.

My Saxophone students can expect some of the fun and some of the practical. We will be working on articulation, tone production, intonation, breathing, different forms of vibrato and many other aspects of control over the saxophone while learning songs that you as the student want to learn.

I have been taking piano lessons for 15 years, and turning around and teaching the techniques and abilities to my students have been really fun! We work on the fundamentals, but we
focus on learning cool songs and do things that few other instruments can do.

I have a lot of fun with music theory. I try to be practical in what students need to know, but can teach much more. I have a jazz background and can teach jazz theory, including comping and improvisation.
