I have been playing piano since the age of six. Originally classically trained, I made a change to learning Jazz after hearing it on the radio one night while still in high school.
I began my teaching career in 2007, providing private piano instruction to beginners at a small, privately owned music school in Laurel, Maryland.
After the school closed it's doors in the Fall of 2011, I continued working with many of the students privately. It is these efforts I continue to this day.
Having the opportunity to work 1 on 1 with students and see their progression and development on a week to week basis is a truly, rewarding experience that I feel fortunate to be a part of.

I have been teaching a wide variety of styles and genres such as, classical, jazz, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, etc. for 10 years. My teaching style is unique because as a full time professional musician I also bring a "street smarts" approach to the "book smarts" type of lessons--you get the best of both worlds. All of my lessons are rooted in classical piano technique, so you can learn how to properly and efficiently play the piano from a technical approach. One of the first things we will do is set daily, weekly, and monthly goals for you! Students will learn how to read music and they will also learn how to play by ear. Let's get started!

I took 2 years of lessons with Keegan. In that time he guided and prepared me for a career as a self providing musician. Not only did he teach me anything I wanted to know and everything I needed to know about the piano, he connected me with local musicians and gave me opportunities to audition and sub on gigs.
I successfully auditioned for the Berklee College of Music, which he helped me prepare for. I can now say that everything I learned with Keegan was crucial for my survival and progress in this College.
Keegan doesn't only teach you how to play, but how to hear and how to practice and approach music with joy and humility.

I want my piano students to learn to love music but also to have a good grasp of theory and technique because that transfers to any and all instruments and styles of music they wish to pursue. Generally the beginning of the lesson is spent on strength and technique building exercises. We also study scales and music theory and then spend time working through songs to reinforce the concepts presented and help the student progress in their abilities. I train my students to be able to read the music rather than just play by ear so they can pick up and play any piece of music they choose. For beginning piano students the types of songs are more basic since they are designed to reinforce music knowledge and note reading abilities. More advanced students are able to play from different styles including classical and modern.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I have known Fawn since I was 6 years old. She came in replacing my other piano teacher who was very mean. I was Fawn her until age 19. She had me playing high level classical concerto pieces with in 4 years, with me being able to read and do them on my own. My family and I adore her. She is a wonderful, compassionate and inspiring person. She not only taught me piano, but songwriting on guitar and piano and gave me voice lessons-I even went into her recording studio and recorded the songs I wrote, that was a lot of fun! She also gave my father voice lessons. We all enjoyed her and considered her part of our family and still do, even though none of us take lessons any more. I have started teaching piano privately while going through college. Fawn taught me how to do that and how to be a good teacher. I admire her very much. She was part of my Bat Mitzvah and one of the people I chose to light a candle. I was thrilled when she was on the Billboard charts with Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey. She works harder than any one I know.
Today, I enjoy piano, voice and songwriting because of this wonderful person. She is so easy to talk to, always positive and is very thorough with music theory, sight reading and playing. She, herself has one of the most heartfelt touches on the piano that I have ever heard. I HIGHLY recommend her as a music coach. You will never regret taking lessons with Fawn."

I also appreciate that Jennifer is conscious of the distractions of a young child. She has a piano in a separate room with doors. If there is too much noise outside of the room, or outdoors, she will turn on a 'white noise' maker to help cancel out the distractions and keep her students focused!
Overall, it has been a great experience so far! No complaints! Yes, I'd recommend her!"
