I teach all ages above 7 years old. Students will learn to play with a metronome, to read music, memorize scales, play with proper technique, play patterns by ear, and even write their own songs! Students get to pick from a variety of games to end the lesson with. Adults will add various listening and theory exercises. I hold a spring concert every year!

About Mary

I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Music from UW-Milwaukee in 2006. I continued to study privately on Saxophone with Curt Hanrahan and on Accordion with

Gary's just fantastic. He has the knowledge and the attitude that makes learning both effective and fun. He's working with me to help learn the kind playing I want (mostly modern songs) but knows when to reach for other material to help learn important techniques.

Rina is an organized instructor who perceives my son’s strengths/weaknesses and demonstrates real concern for him as a blossoming musician. She goes out of her way in unexpected ways such as helping him acquire a better instrument at a bargain price. Wow!

A great first lesson even though my oboe didn’t work. I learned a lot of fingerings and about reed making. Great fun.

We feel very fortunate to have Rina M. as our daughter’s music instructor, for oboe and guitar. Our daughter’s musical ability and knowledge has grown exponentially, and her music teacher at school has praised her understanding of music / music theory, most of which she learned since working with Mrs. Rina. We are so happy to have found TakeLessons, as this is how we were introduced to Mrs. Rina. She is very special to us, and we highly recommend her!

Different people learn differently, so I like to vary my teaching methods based on individual students. One way of thinking about something may be very helpful for one student and not so helpful for another. Having had some not-so-great personal experiences with teachers who would only explain a concept in one way, I try hard to avoid this in my teaching. I try to keep the lessons fun and stress-free while still pushing students to meet their full potential. Music is fun because it contains both abstract (i.e. how the music feels) and concrete (eg notes and rhythms) elements, so I try to include both sides of the spectrum in my teaching.

About Chad

I have taken piano lessons for the past 17 years and have been teaching for the last 5. While working on my Bachelor of Arts in Music at Willamette University, I decided to give piano lessons during the summer and found it to be an exciting way to connect with new people of all ages, give them a ski

Deborah is a diamond in the rough. She is a talented pianist and an excellent teacher. I spent countless hours during COVID searching for a piano instructor for my daughter, a beginner. Many veteran teachers prefer to teach intermediate-to-advanced students, and even fewer are willing to teach virtually. I'm so grateful to have found Deborah. She provides high-quality instruction to my daughter, and communicates with ease using technology. Deborah is engaging, professional, and her love of music is infectious.
Alice
I’ve been learning piano with Deborah for over 6 months, and I am really surprised with my improvement. Deborah is very professional in the piano technique, style and theory. Her class is organized and content oriented, it help me progress every lessons. She is also very motivating! She likes to hear feedback from me and help with my difficulty about the practicing, understanding and everything. I had a great experience with Deborah!
Dana -.
Deborah is such an excellent teacher. I've been taking lessons with Deborah for a little over 4 months now and I'm impressed with my progress. We're going at my own pace because I don't have a whole lot of time to practice due to work and other obligations, and she is understanding, incredibly patient, and encouraging.

In the lessons, she's not only teaching me theory and classical piano (my choice), but she's teaching me the joy of playing music and how to play from the soul. Our lessons and my practice never feel tedious. Often, she'll play a song for me so I can hear the melody for a piece I'm going to learn. Whenever she plays, you can see the passion and joy she has for music and piano.

She is a professional, very skilled at both piano and teaching and I'm thankful to be taking lessons with her. Whether you are taking lessons for fun or for professional reasons, Deborah is the right pick.

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?

Wondering about the average piano tuning cost, or how often you should tune a piano? You've come to the right place! Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life.
