Amanda is a classically trained pianist well versed in multiple styles of music and music theory throughout the eras. Your lesson will begin by getting to know your individual goals and desires. An individualized plan will be developed to help you meet your goals. You will learn to read and understand music and be able to play full songs as well as learning exercises to develop your technique. Amanda uses hard work and positive reinforcement and encouragement to keep lessons fun.

I'm am a music therapy student who is soon to graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston. I have over 10 years of experience playing the piano and receiving lessons. I am happy to teach beginner-to-intermediate students of all ages. My lessons can be catered to meet your specific needs and goals. Potential goal areas may include piano technique, sight-reading, ear-training, repertoire-building, etc.. I have an extensive background in both the classical and jazz traditions and can help you to learn a variety of styles.

I welcome piano students of all ages and levels of experience. I don't have a set curriculum or required method book, as I feel that it's important to tailor lessons to the individual student. I work with my students to learn how to read music and feel it's important to include theory and ear training to have a more complete understanding of how and why we do what we do as we're playing. I specialize in classical music, but am happy to work on music from other genres such as rock, pop, and Broadway, or others. I feel this allows my students to be fully engaged at their lessons when the music we're working on is something that interests them.

Students will be instructed in how to read music and play the piano on a beginner level. We will work on different pieces and exercises to improve technique and proficiency with the instrument.

I have been teaching private piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele lessons for ten years. I won competitions, hundreds of dollars, and a scholarship through the Desert Valley Music Teacher Association (DVMTA). I have written and self-published two piano books with more in the works. I have worked on a Music Theory degree at MCC and plan to transfer to ASU to finish my bachelor's. I help students find the fun in music again with many involved music games and incentive programs. I instill a love and confidence in students of composing their own music from a young age.
