Antonella is an AMAZING teacher. I am an older adult student, with no music theory or background. She is very patient, accommodating, and uses very useful analogies that help me visualize what to do in a way that helps me learn and remember. My own weakness is in making time to diligently practice. I look forward to each lesson, and give her my highest recommendation.

Our experience with Antonella has been wonderful. She has high standards but is also extremely patient with young students. My daughter has learned beautiful technique but more importantly, she has expanded her mind, improved her sense of discipline and commitment and learned to play piano with a feel for the music. Working with Antonella is fantastic for the student and their parent/guardian. It's a joint effort. I highly recommend Antonella

About Rene
Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15
albums with various ensembles and bands. In college I already knew from my previous experience that I wanted to teach and pass on the joy that music brought to my life. I studied Music Theory and Jazz and finished my degree in Music Education. I have been teaching all in all for about 14 yrs. And I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with my students learning as much from them, as them from me. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us music aficionados! and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching method ranges depending on the student. I believe in my experience that everyone learns differently, therefore everyone develops at their own pace. I try to find key strengths in each student and expose this to their advantage, using their abilities to further develop their skills, this method has shown the most promising results and students usually find themselves playing and performing just a couple of months after their first lessons. Part of my method involves a lot of performance and recital opportunities to help break any fears and inhibitions a student may bring with them. Music is about sharing, so an early exposure to this method helps to strengthen and stabilize a core acceptance of a students style and path, giving them and those close to them a very clear picture of their development and achievements.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Has all instruments at both his home and college studio

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide lesson material, song charts and a progression scale. I require student to have an Instrument and recommended technique literature.

*** Specialties ***
My classical training began in High School with Influences in Segovia, and Romero I studied classical for 4 yrs. and trained in Jazz and Improvisation with performances In Big Band and group ensemble. Also sang and played in the school gospel choir.

****Personal Statement*****

If you needed a reason

There is no question that music touches us instantly and activates images, emotions and memories that linger with us throughout our lives. As a casual listener or an obsessive music elitist, there are times in our lives when we get blown away by a sound so unique our entire body vibrates and resonates with the touch of something out of this world. I can honestly say when this happens to me I feel as close to a spiritual connection than anything I have experienced otherwise. I believe it is these exact events that have triggered my need to be completely involved in the making, performing and consuming of music. The creative process, to me, is the single obvious reason we exist in this world. We create and share, learn and interpret, build on previous ideas and inspire others to perfect upon this process. It is no doubt a very humbling experience to realize you are part of it all. During this process you come to realize how important you are as an Individual, how there is no other vessel like you in this world, nor has there ever been or ever will. You are here now and your voice, your talent, your gift is an instrument to the great choir of the human spirit. No one but you can relate this, a reason to be, to create, to give.

About Laura
Welcome to my studio!

I love getting to know all of my students and helping them achieve their goals. One of my favorite things about teaching is that I can meet musicians (that's you!) at all different levels and with varying interests. Whether you want to learn to sing pop, broadway, classical or just learn a tune on the piano, I am here to help!

I have been teaching for over 14 years. I have taught private lessons, group voice classes, beginning and intermediate piano, beginning music theory, and acting. I have taught in my own private studio as well as at the collegiate level. As your teacher, I will do my best to make sure your learning process is fun and that you feel comfortable. If you are nervous to try singing or piano, don't worry! I have dealt with stage fright myself and love helping my students out with nerves.

I am so proud of the many successes my students have had - from preparing auditions for college music programs (and getting accepted!) to going out for roles in their school musical or choir, or working on a community audition. I have helped my singers gain the confidence to sing at an open mic night, or perform a solo at their local church.

Whatever your goals are, I am here to help you grow and to learn to sing and/or play in a way that is HEALTHY and will help you keep making music life long.

I'll get you the skills you need to excel, and we'll even have fun doing it. Looking forward to meeting you!

I'm a pretty laid back person, so a lot depends on how much effort you put into it. There's a couple different things we'll do for the first lesson. If you're new to this, I'll start you out learning basic stick grip and pos
ture, and we'll get you sitting behind a kit. If you have some experience, I'd like to hear what you can do before we decide where to go from there. Your participation in your lessons in paramount. Bring songs to learn, ask questions, get EXCITED about playing. I'm here to facilitate your needs, so if you don't ask questions and get involved in your education, I can only do so much.

Drum set, practice pads, and P.A. equipment

About Daniel
I teach piano, composition, music theory, and ear training to students at every level of musical experience (including those who cannot read music). To date I have taught over 100 music students in private, online and classroom settings.

My biggest priority in teaching is to help you reach your specific goals and address your needs! Every student has their own objectives and learns at their own pace, and my job is to ensure that you get exactly what you want out of the lessons. Whether you’re looking to master piano basics, learn your favorite songs or pieces, write your own music, prepare for a theory exam, strengthen your theory skills, or improve your ear, I can help you achieve your goals!

I am available for both in-person and online teaching. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

-Subjects-

Beginne
r Piano - I have privately instructed over 30 students in beginner-level piano skills. I can help you master the basics of the instrument, acquire a basic technique, and learn how to read music if necessary. Once the fundamentals are in place, we can cover piano repertoire from a wide variety of styles (jazz, classical, rock, pop, international, etc.), and maybe even learn some of your favorite music and pieces! If you wish, I can supplement lessons with music theory.

Composition and Arrangement - To date I have helped my students write over 20 compositions of widely varying styles and characters. I can help you perfect the art of writing melody, harmony, accompaniment, counterpoint, forms, lyrics, songs, orchestration, or film music! I will provide feedback on your work, as well as instructive musical examples from the past.

Music Theory - I I have taught music theory for 4 years to over 50 students. I can teach you everything from music theory fundamentals (key signatures, scales, major/minor chords, chord analysis) to some of the most advanced topics in undergraduate and graduate musical studies (form, part-writing, counterpoint, advanced harmonic analysis, Schenkerian analysis).

Ear Training - I have taught ear training for 3 years to over 50 students. I am very experienced in assisting students in recognizing and notating everything from single notes and chords to complex passages of music. I have many useful learning materials and know effective methods for achieving aural recognition.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me!

I have been attending online classes of arranging with Daniel for several months now and all I can say is that he has helped me greatly in progressing towards achieving my musical goals. Not only is he very clever and knowledgeable, but he can also adjust his teaching pace with the student's needs. The material he provided was excellent both from a quality point of view and from an organizational aspect. Overall, Daniel has been a great teacher for me and I am very happy I have found him. About Doug
Doug has been involved with synthesizers since 1976, his first being a PAiA Gnome kit. Early influences include Tangerine Dream, Todd Rundgren, Brian Eno, David Bowie, and Isao Tomita. Since then, he has steadily worked his way up the synth food chain. He now owns a LOT of analog and digital synths and samplers by the likes of Moog, Arturia, Korg, Ensoniq, and Roland. Along the way, he has run an 8 track recording studio, was a free-lance sound engineer and house sound engineer at The Brewery in Raleigh NC, as well as played guitar, bass, and keyboards in bands.

Currently, he has two solo projects.

80 lb.Test uses a variety of hardware synths and controllers, coupled with software virtual synths, to create anything from lush, ambient washes to frenetic pulsing sequences, to meandering sonic doodles. For the most part, the 80 repe
rtoire is based on loosely structured songs. However, Doug will often wander into uncharted territory, veering dangerously close to the musical ditch.
His other solo project, SumbGlitch, tends to stay in that ditch. If it's too weird for 80 lb. test to do, then SumbGlitch takes over. Expect anything from straight up Noise, to alternate controllers, to more esoteric concepts.

He also plays keys and electronics in Subliminal Surge, an "Experimental Geezer Punk" band, with heavy emphasis on social satire and commentary.

Doug has played at events and in venues all over the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area, all over the state of North Carolina, and in New Jersey.
He is an inveterate electronics tinkerer. He would just as soon pop open a broken box as to send it off to be repaired.
His top favorite artists are The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Todd Rundgren, Pink Floyd, The Tubes, and Dash Rip Rock.
