You will learn how to play and identify notes on the keyboard, read sheet music, learn rhythmic values, play chords, and so much more. The piano is a very diverse instrument. It is a great tool to teach a student about music in general. In addition to learning how to play the piano, you will lean many basic music theory concepts.

Ian is fantastic teacher. He was so patient with my toddler daughter. And when she became fuzzy during the class, Ian could be so creative to always come out with a way to calm her down and redirect her attention to other musical things. I would love him to be my daughter’s music teacher for as long as possible if I did not have to move.

I am a professional pianist with a degree in Jazz Performance and over 13 years of experience in classical piano. I'm very experienced working with children as I've spent nearly two years teaching music in a social project entitled 'Sulamot', designed to bring musical education to children of all ages in low-income areas.

I teach students of all levels, from beginners with no former education in piano/music, to musicians looking for prep-work for college auditions, as I was the recipient of a full-tuition scholarship for my bachelor's degree.

"Excellent, exciting teacher my son loves

We love Fawn. She took my perfectionist, baseball loving boys boy and turned him into a composure, songwriter and potential concert pianist. Fawn is eccentric, talented, patient and a true professional. I thank Fawn for helping my son discover his love of the piano and for doing it in a way that was authentic to his learning style. She made it fun."

"I'm not a musician. For a long time I was dreaming of playing an accordion. Knowing that David is good with accordion I took a few lessons. The results exceeded all my expectations. I couldn't even imagine it would be so easy to play one of my favorite songs. If you have doubts listen to this clip and see for yourself.

"Daniela is wonderful and our lessons are always fun. She lets me play pieces that I enjoy plus introduces me to new music that she believes I will also enjoy. She allows me to play freely but will correct my mistakes (wrong fingering :). But this only make me a better player and learning a new piece easier. As an adult learner I cannot say enough good things about her and her style. I really enjoy my lessons with her and I highly recommend her."

"I started taking my 2 children to Miss Joan after our previous teacher stopped giving lessons. Joan is great! She adapts her teaching style to their learning styles and keeps things fun while making sure they learn a lot. It was very important to me that we find someone skilled in teaching by ear as well as classically, and she fits that bill. She goes the extra mile with bringing in a variety of worksheets and activities to cement new concepts. We're thrilled!"

What Piano Pedals Do + How to Use Them to Sound Like a Pro

Piano pedals are levers which alter the sound of the piano in a variety of different ways. The three types of pedals most pianos have are, from right to left: a sustain pedal, a sostenuto pedal, and a soft pedal. As you get more comfortable at the piano, you may start to wonder about these three pedals at the bottom. What do the pedals on a piano do? You'll find the answers in t …
