Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am opening up an opportunity for three students (ages 10-17, beginners, intermediate or advanced) to significantly advance their skills and abilities to play drum-set and percussion instruments.

My underlying intent is to help develop your child first as a musician and to also help them discover more joy in music, rhythm and performance through percussive expression. To do this, I have developed and use the BEAT Method coupled with what I call “FP Success Factors” for over 20 years with students of all ages and experience with great success.

Equally important is your child’s development as a whole person (body, heart, mind and spirit). I have seen through my experience over 20 years of teaching aspiring young drummers and percussionists that some of the most important outcomes gained throughout the learning process is their leadership development. There are gifts and talents within every child. It is my first priority to help them discover ...

For younger students, I use the Albert Young Beginner lesson book and activity book. The lesson book teaches basic piano skills at a good pace for young beginners, and the activity book reiterates what the lesson book teaches, but in different fun ways. For older students, I use the Bastien series of Piano instruction for my piano lessons. I use the Lesson book for teaching basic playing skills, the Theory book for basic theory. In addition to this, I like to eventually include A Dozen A Day exercise books and Hannon finger exercises, scales, and arpeggios. I feel this method of teaching will lead to well-rounded, quick improvement!

About Kathleen

Kathleen Little, after playing the flute and piano on her own for seven years, began her classical education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. Only a year and a half after Ms. Little began her studies with Jun Kubo, she was accepted into The College of New Jersey for a Bach

I've been teaching guitar to students of all experience levels and ages for 20 years. I structure lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of basic musicianship. I typically use Hal Leonard Guitar Method for those students who want to learn to read music.

About Rhonda

I have always had a love for music. From all the music trivia games my family won't play with me, to my large collection of records, cassettes, and CDs - I am hooked! I made my solo performance debut at age 7 by singing "It's A Small World" acapella in a school talent show. At age 9 I started

Want to find a comfortable way of playing the violin with confidence, fullness of breath, and ease? Want to develop your ears and violin technique so you can effortlessly play anything you hear or see on a page? I have taught violin for 10 years, including 2 years at the college level, hold 3 classical performance degrees from internationally renowned musical schools, have studied jazz violin and piano extensively, and have spent years developing my skills in singing, composition, and improvisation. My experience teaching yoga and meditation, as well as my experience as a collegiate track and field athlete give me the tools to help my student overcome tightness, shallow breathing, and lack of confidence. My diverse skill set, my love of music and teaching, and my immense care for my students help me to cater to each student's needs and enable me to inspire every student to find their own musical voice and the joy of sharing music.

About Michael

I received my Bachelors degree from UCLA, Masters from Eastman School of Music, and Artist Diploma from the Royal Conservatory Glenn Gould School, all specializing in violin performance. I also taught violin for two years at University of Tennessee-Knoxville as a graduate teaching assistant and hav

Michael is an exceptional teacher. My wife and I began to learn the violin with Michael. Not only is he an extremely talented musician but also patient teacher. I would highly recommend him.

Michael is a great teacher for students of all ages. He is patient and innovative, and was able to help me overcome shortcomings that I had developed from when I played years ago growing up. The breadth and depth of his experience in music performance and teaching, combined with his competitive athletics experience and meditation skills, allows Michael to develop in his students a broader foundation for success. His ability to draw from a variety of music genres and teaching methods helped me to be a better musician and to enjoy playing the violin again.

"Tina is the best voice coach. She is very professional but friendly at the same time. Somehow my daughter(8 years old) clicked with her and loved singing with her! Tina successfully prepared my daughter for the Talent Show quickly even though the date was imminent. My daughter is currently taking a break from singing until her school is over. I highly recommend Tina to anyone who has a child or teenager as she is very patient and fun to sing with!"

"I had taken lessons locally for several months and was very frustrated. I was given a color coded sticker and sheet music to get me playing fast however I actually wanted to learn to read and understand music.

On a lark I found Stephanie on the takelessons site. We scheduled a call where I explained my experience, frustrations, and what I wanted to accomplish. I honestly did not think online classes would work. Was I wrong!! It takes great skill in verbally correcting bow holds, etc. and Stephanie is terrific. Before I was told to practice but I never knew HOW to. Stephanie assigns specific tasks, # of time to repeat, and duration for homework. She is so friendly and easy to work with. I would recommend her for any age or skill level??"

Violin Tips: Stiff Shoulders and Arm Pain

Playing the violin should be fun - not a pain! Some arm fatigue is normal when you're first starting out, but anything more than that may be a sign of poor posture, technique or instrument placement. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you practice and play... 1. Relax. Many beginner players tense up their shoulders, arms or wrist without even realizing it, which can cause a lot of problems. Just relax! Focus on your breathing, but also don't lose your posture. 2. Check your techni …
