Iryna has been working with my young daughter for about 5 months now, and she is wonderful! She keeps the lessons fun and gives us lots of ideas and varieties of things to work on throughout the week to keep it engaging for a 5 year old, which is no small feat!

Iryna has been an excellent fit as my granddaughter's first piano teacher. She is clearly a knowledgeable professional, with the way she evaluated this young student for readiness, carefully assessing her physical abilities, temperament, listening skills, rhythm, etc. I am confident our granddaughter is getting grounded with a superb music foundation and piano instruction. You may be able to find a less expensive option, but spending a little extra money now so a child does not need to unlearn bad habits later seems worth it to me!

Iryna is punctual, joyful and makes our granddaughter's learning experience truly fun and very effective. We highly recommend you try Iryna! We are very happy with her as an instructor! E. Taylor

My main goal is making sure the student is having fun while learning! I cater my lessons around the individual student, because I think that students learn the best doing something they love. I cover the fundamentals - music theory, proper technique, note reading - while incorporating songs and activities the student will enjoy. While every student will learn the basics, I focus in on the student's specific interest during the lesson, whether that's classical music, pop, musical theater, or jazz.

About Nicole

I am a composer, pianist, and vocalist originally from Austin, Texas, currently living in New York City. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in music composition in May 2020, and I am currently pursuing a masters in composition at New York University. Music has

Nicole started to teach piano lessons to my then 3yo son. She's very professional and as well as accomodating whenever we have conflict with our schedules. She's very patient and good with kids. We've been doing in person lessons with her for years and then this year ,covid happened and also Nicole had to move to NY but we are still doing lessons with her, virtual learning style. We are so glad that even with the current set up,my son, now 7yo, still enjoying and learning more from her.

"I have been with Ruth for about 14 months. As a beginner, and an adult, I came into our lessons with a few concerns: Can I actually learn to play an instrument in my late 20s? Will I be able to keep up? Will I be stuck playing childish songs for the first few years? Fortunately Ruth was able to put these worries to rest. Not only is she patient and comforting, working with me at my own pace, she is great at breaking down theory and technique in a way that is easy for anyone at any age to understand. And the book that she has me using is filled with a large collection of songs specifically chosen for adult students; it's great!
Ruth has been nothing but a blessing; I enjoy our lessons thoroughly and I look forward to them every week."

"I know Lella as a colleague, and we have also done a lesson exchange. Lella loves music and cares about her students. She wants them to do well. She focuses on where the student is and guides the student to play better. She sometimes focuses on one section of the piece or on one hand to help them improve that portion. I only took piano for a few years growing up, but in 20 minutes, she was able to help me quite a bit with a song I had never played before.

Lella's biggest difficulty is the fact that she is still learning English (her native language is Mandarin Chinese), but between what she does know and is able to demonstrate, she is still very helpful."

2 Effective Techniques for Smoothing Out Your Legato

What are the best exercises for practicing legato music on the piano? Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. offers her tips and tricks for mastering the technique... Legato… a beautiful and mysterious word that brings images of a pair of swans gracefully gliding on the placid waters of a still lake. In the phrasing of the Italian renaissance, the time and place where the language of music was born, legato meant tied, bound, or connected. In terms of legato music, it means this and more. …
