Phillip teaches any level from ages 4-100. Anyone can learn at any age.
These lesson will, in a methodical way, teach you the skills you need to play piano. The only thing keeping you from reaching your potential is starting lessons. Lessons are geared to your speed of learning and needs.

About Phillip
I am a pianist and singer who started learning to play the piano at age 6, and I love teaching all students of all experience levels. Growing up I competed and placed highly in many competitions including playing with the Symphony Orchestra in my home town of Spartanburg, SC after winning it's concerto competition at the age of 17. In college I took piano from Dr. Charles Fugo at the University of South Carolina and also started taking voice lessons from Tonya Currier and Walter Cuttino. While still in college I worked with The South Carolina Opera company for a season as a member of the ensemble and as Chorus Master.
Professionally, I have worked with different theater and opera companies as a lead actor and as a musician. I have also worked in many different church positions as a musician and singer.
I have many years of teaching ex
perience with piano at all experience levels.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have experience teaching since 1995 while I was still in college. I primarily use Alfred and "Faber & Faber" piano methods for beginners. I teach how to read music, understand the theory behind the music, and the technique needed in a patient atmosphere at the pace of the student. I also teach you how the piano works and the different types of pianos as well as the history of keyboards used for different classical music. The lessons are geared toward the goals of the student no matter what level is desired.
In teaching singing, I will teach you the basics necessary to create a healthy and relaxed sound through technique. With experience singing music ranging from classical to contemporary church music to musical theater, I can teach you how to use the voice in a way that will promote a long time of singing without adding stress to the voice. I will work with any style of music and will give you the technique and confidence needed to become a better singer.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my home studio is a piano and books with big windows to look out. Pianos are an upright piano and an Alesis Synthesiser. Seating is available for parents as well.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a piano or an electric keyboard at home for piano lessons. For voice lessons a keyboard is not required but is helpful.

*** Specialties ***
I primarily teach piano in a classical style using either "Faber & Faber" or Alfred Methods for piano lessons.
For voice, I teach all my students to sing in a way that will be the most beneficial to the health of their voice. Doing this is helpful to all styles of singing.

About Ryan
I began singing when I was seven in a school choir. After that, I joined a boy choir in Florida that allowed me to travel all over the United States and Europe, exposing me to many different genres of music. When I entered college, I decided to start training as an opera singer. Since then, I have gained a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Theater Arts from the University of Miami (FL) and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. I have been fortunate to perform extensively and have become passionate about performing. Having recently graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music, I am dedicated to building a studio in the Haddon Heights area.

*** Lesson Details ***
Learning to sing should be fun and exciting! It's a personal talent that I love and enjoy and am excited to share that
with my students. I teach a classical technique focusing on breath, posture and a natural, healthy sound. From this technique, anyone can sing any genre of music healthily and for a long time. If you want to audition for some big part/company or if you just want to beat your friends in a karaoke competition I'll be happy to help! Piano students will be using technique books, and once a grasp of the fundamentals has been gained, the next step is to work on some basic repertoire of your choice. Learning technique is essential but of no use unless it's applied to music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Private studio in a comfortable common area with great acoustics in my home. A keyboard, music, internet access and street parking are all available. I recommend recording lessons but it is not required.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a keyboard and some music. If you want to record your lessons I encourage it.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical singing technique which is the basis for any genre of singing, basic piano technique and classical music theory.

I have been teaching piano for almost 20 years. I have taught classical, blues, jazz, country and gospel styles. I am well versed in traditional methods of piano study, but I also have a great deal of success in helping classically trained students learn how to play rock, blues and jazz styles.

About Willy
Willy has been teaching music for more than a decade, carrying on the tradition he learned when his father taught him piano as a youth. He is a multi-instrumentalist with a degree in music from Earlham College in historic Richmond, IN (the birthplace of recorded jazz, and home of 30s era Genette Records).

As a sound technician Willy gained valuable experience working at the world famous Tarry Town Music Hall near Sleepy Hollow, NY, where he worked with top notch touring bands like Blues Traveler, the Indigo Girls, Paul Shaffer, the Marshall Tucker Band, and the late, great Levon Helm. He also worked with A-list actors such as Stanley Tucci, James Cahn, Kevin Bacon and Keanu Reeves.

While living in Austin, TX, Willy was a member of the American Federation of Musicians alongside greats like Los Lonely Boys, George Straight, Lyle Lovet
t and Willie Nelson.

As a father of four young children, Willy teaches in a family friendly environment. At the SIW events, he has taught elementary students as well as adults all the way up to 86 years old! Willy is a background checked teacher and would love to pass on his knowledge of music to you and your family!

Learning Piano by Learning to Read Music

Emphasis on Posture, Hand and Finger Control at the Keyboard, Controlled Relaxation

Classical and Popular Styles

About Robert
Both my mom and dad were musicians and taught private lessons at home, so I grew up wanting to be a part of the music making. Now I am a university music educator who performs frequently as a soloist and collaborative pianist. I hold piano performance degrees from Carnegie Mellon and Yale. In addition, I've studied chamber music at the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau (France) and vocal accompanying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. I perform as a church musician, choral accompanist, and recital pianist in traditional and more modern styles. I'm active as a collaborative artist in competitions, auditions, and recordings. In the past three years I've been studying ballroom dancing for fun and as an extension of my interest in experiencing music from the standpoint of total body movement. It's been a game-changer for sure!

*** Lesson Details ***
I favor an easygoing approach to lessons as a joint venture (and Adventure) between the student and me. I enjoy encouraging students and responding to their individual needs and levels of accomplishment. I have taught beginners of every age as well as more experienced pianists. For beginners I aim to establish a comfortable relationship with the instrument so that they can feel at ease in playing in high and low registers and everywhere in between. For more advanced players the goal is to connect good technique with their own innate musical skill. Students at all levels will work on their music-reading and sight-reading skills. If your dream is to learn to play piano, I can help you to get started. If you already play, I can help you to prepare for auditions and recitals and, in short, to reach the next level. Let's roll!

*** Studio Equipment ***
six foot grand in living room seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
For many years I taught young children from the Frances Clark "Music Tree" series. With more intermediate and advanced students I used the Alfred Series as well as volumes by James and Jane Bastien. I also enjoy teaching and coaching students in the art of accompanying, particularly in choral music and vocal art songs. This is a specialty of mine, as I have made my living as a collaborative pianist. In recent years I have studied more popular genres that include piano arrangements of Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Rodgers, and many other American composers. While I shy away from teaching these to young students (even of high school or college age), I do occasionally teach contemporary arrangements of hymn tunes (Mark Hayes, Larry Shackley, and others) to students who show promise in handling modern genres, which of course require no small amount of technique and discipline.

I've been teaching piano for over 8 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to read music and play simple songs and as time goes on you'll be able to play songs in any genre and style that you so choose. I specialize in classical piano and accompanying (especially musical theatre), typically using the Piano Adventures books, but depending on the age and level the repertoire will be adjusted! I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Rachel
**IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK LESSONS WITH ME IN NEW YORK CITY I AM HERE FOR JUNE 2017! WE CAN SWITCH TO A SKYPE FORMAT AFTER THAT :)

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I have been teaching lessons professionally for over 10 years now. My primary instruments are voice and piano, and I also teach music theory/ear training/musicianship skills. I earned my degree in vocal performance from James Madison University, where I taught lessons to non-music majors as well as tutored general music for the student population. I am currently getting my masters in voice and pedagogy (teaching) from the Peabody Conservatory. I would describe my teaching style as fun and relaxed, with a strong emphasis on healthy technique. I believe that all students should have a strong technical foundation, and that begins on day one. Genres I teach include classical, musical
theatre, pop, and accompanying skills for pianists. I can also help with audition prep on both instruments. I look forward to meeting with you!

Rachel is my daughter’s piano teacher, and based on our experience with her, and in comparison to my son’s guitar teachers in his early years, Rachel is the best music teacher that I have encountered. Rachel is great with kids, she knows how to keep my daughter engaged and away from frustrations. In her lectures, Rachel maintains a nice balance between fun and challenging songs, and in every assignment she give out, her student either polishes a technique or acquires the new one. All in all, Rachel creates a great learning environment and provides a positive experience.

I'm not here to make a performance major out of every student. I'm here to teach students to love to learn music with the natural talents they already have! If they love to learn this will carry on into every other subject that they need to learn! It's proven that playing music is the number one thing parents can involve their children in to help them become better thinkers.

About Lisa
After graduating from college with a degree in education I was determined to change the course of the education for my own family. I was the first on either side of my entire family (all generations) ever to go to a university and graduate. I came from very humble hard working (yes bullheaded Irish) people. As a naturally highly creative person the school system was not a nurturing place at all for me. As a deeply right brained visual person the left brained system was toxic for my creativity and I struggled to thrive and be myself.

For the past 21 years I've dedicated my time, energy, creativity to home schooling my own two children in their academics as well as the necessary skills for every day life. Thankfully, I had the opportunity not to put either of them in day care one day. My focused sacrifice has been intense, seriou
s, determined. planned, and obvious in my passion to educate them both in a left brain manor with a massive amount of creative liberty.

The ignorant, verbal, flack I encountered during this was insane but I didn't waver. I believe in one on one education customized for each child and knew from the start what I wanted to accomplish with both of them! I wanted them to learn how to learn with their personalities, natural strengths and talents but I had to observe and implement very different parenting and teaching techniques with both from birth.

Yes, my hard unwavering work has paid off and is continuing to pay off. Both of my children walked into their first college courses at age 14. Yes, real college classes on real college campuses! Both are honor students and my first will finish his degree in English Lit/Creative Writing at UNC Asheville in Dec 2016 at age 21!

Private piano lessons are nothing more than home schooling. I bring the same customized passion I used for my own children to teach yours! Not only do I have an education degree I have a proven track record of teaching children how they uniquely need to learn whether it's visually, audio, or kinetically etc. I know how to challenge them and make them work...even the super smart lazy ones!

After each lesson I take a few moments to consult the parent(s) about the lesson and what needs to be accomplished during the students next practice week. You need to be aware of their education because they grow rapidly and there is much to accomplish before they attend college! Do some research on the benefits of learning and playing music if you are not a musician yourself. It's incredible what it will do for the development of their brain little brains!

Apparently, I'm not allowed my customary studio "meet and greet" with Takelessons. I have studio rules that must be followed and if they aren't I will not continue to teach your children. You must have a piano or keyboard for them to regularly practice on and believe me I know when they don't practice. I know what method books I like to teach from so I'll be happy to share that information with you. If you don't have any I cannot start the lessons without them. They must be purchased before hand.
There are other rules so please message me first so that we can discuss them first so that there is no confusion about the studio policies. This isn't a hobby this is serious valuable education for your child.

I don't have the time nor the energy to deal with unprofessional parents because my time and energy goes fully towards teaching amazing students.

At this time I've been pre-approved, by the head of arts education in Guilford County, to teach music education and chorale education in the Guilford County School system. I'm waiting for openings and interviews. My time educating my own children is over with so I must move on to teach other incredible human beings!

I look forward to passionately educating you or... those you love!

I love teaching piano because it was my first instrument at 2 years old. I have been playing since before I could talk so it is my best form of expression. The most important thing about teaching is remembering that the student wants to enjoy what they're playing, and they are learning because they ENJOY MUSIC.

I would love to help you play, write and perform your own music!

About Kyle
Hello!
I began learning piano at 2 years old and started teaching at the beginning of high school. During high school, I picked up percussion and guitar and started writing and singing my own music. In 2012 I joined a world class indoor drumline and played keyboard, placing 11th in the world. The beginning of last year, I was given the opportunity to teach a group piano class to adults with developmental disabilities.

Roger taught my son Max for over two years, took him from finding middle C to advanced Mozart, Bach and other music that Max selected. Roger's musical knowledge is extreme and he will adapt his teaching style to individual learning personalities. When Max had some less enthusiastic or frustrated moments, Roger would make every effort to re-motivate him with positive encouragement and by finding fresh music that inspired him. Max is an absolute pleasure to listen to on the piano now. So is Roger by the way if you can catch him playing some of his favorites between lessons :) Recommend as highly as possible!

About Roger
Teaching piano is my passion. Within the first few lessons you will start reading music. As you continue you will learn introductory classical pieces. As you progress, you will be given opportunities to choose pieces that you want to play. I teach using the Bastien book series, but customize each lesson to suit your needs. Depending on your interest level, we can explore composing and songwriting. Twice a year, you'll get to showcase your talents on recital.

I taught piano to K-12 aged children in the Ballantyne Area of Charlotte, North Carolina, from December 2013 until September 2016. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching all the precious children in my care.

I love teaching kids of all ages, starting at 4 (depending on child) and up through 18. My biggest thrill is when I see a child's eyes light up and I "see the light bulb come on",
that they have grasped what it is I am trying to teach them.

I became a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society in 1992, partially as a result of my piano composition "Melancholy", which is also registered with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers).

I don't just teach mechanical playing and reading skills. I try to go the extra mile and teach children the "why" behind the music, including music theory, harmony, composition techniques and music history. I also like to teach, when appropriate, chords, chord progressions, and how to incorporate them, even into their own compositions.

I earned by Bachelor of Music Education in 1993 from East Carolina University. I majored in voice (high baritone, not quite a tenor) and minored in piano.

My final grade point average was 3.64 and course work included four years of voice lessons and a senior recital that counted for 8 semester hours! My professor considered me an "anomaly" as French was the language I was best at singing and pronouncing.

I look back on my college days with fondness and have no regrets whatsoever. The music skills I learned have helped me in all walks of life.

I am a member of ASCAP since 2006.
