After studying at William Paterson University, The New School for Jazz, and Bard College, I've discovered that consistently meeting new people and connecting with competent mentors is a better music education than anything a textbook can offer.
As a composer, I treat each piece as a new building with different architecture. Each composition will have unique conventions but start with the same trademark foundation I lay for everything I do.
As a performer, I make sure to play to my strengths and the crowd. At the end of the day we artists perform to entertain and bring people together.
As an educator, I tailor my teaching to fit the specific needs of each student. While foundation is necessary, at the end of the day a good teacher should always have the mentee's goals at the forefront of their approach.

About John
I believe that by keeping the rest of my life grounded and professional, I can allow my creativity to be as chaotic and potent as is necessary to be a successful artist. Most musicians will tell you that they became artists to pay bills and it was the only thing they were good at. While this is co

After assessing a student's abilities and needs, I tailor their instruction according to what best fits their individual personalities and capabilities. I stress proper technique, beauty of tone, rhythmic accuracy, and expressive musicality. Understanding of music theory is intertwined with the musical experience. Playing in ensemble is encouraged; I play lots of duets with my students.
The atmosphere presented to my students is always casual and friendly. I take care to make them feel relaxed and uninhibited. I relate to them as whole persons, not just music students. I strongly emphasize their enjoyment of the music and my expression of pleasure in their successes. I consider it a privilege to nurture others in the experience of music!

First thing she asked me is... "What can I do for you?" with intrigue and passion, she asked more questions, working up a plan to achieve our goals, and she delivered!
She is always so enthusiastic, and never lacks patience! Her love for the piano shines through in her way of teaching. Deborah has a way of sharing her gift of music with deep gratifying acknowledgement that makes my boy feel good about himself and helps him progress rapidly every week.
I'm a mother of a gifted boy who practically taught himself how to play piano through videos and composing his own little songs. He struggles with ADHD but his piano is his outlet. Everything came to a stop once video games came in the picture. I know I wanted more for him and someone had suggested takelessons. After a week of extensive research and reading hundreds of profiles and reviews... Deborah's Profile seemed to be the best fit! My son may only be 10years old with only a year of experimenting with the piano, but with Deborah, he plays beautiful classical pieces. He's so happy and astonished at all he's accomplished in only 6 months! Even after a few lessons, he was eager to see her every week, and could see where she was leading him. He can now read music, compose more of his songs, and has better rhythm. And best of all... loves the piano more than Minecraft! (video games)
I wouldn't think twice! This is a chance of a lifetime for you or your family! I hope this review is convincing enough to help you start your endless research. She's truly the best, and all you got to do is try a lesson to find out!
We have a live concert everyday that resounds in our home and we just LOVE it.
All the best!"

How do you make your melodies shine when you're learning the piano? Read on as Powell, OH teacher Sara Marie B. shares some exercises to try... As you're learning the piano, one of the most difficult things to do, especially for young children or beginning pianists, is to bring out the melody. Simply saying it does not help, so I've found I need to provide students with ways to practice this at home, guiding them toward the correct sound. If you're listening well and spending time …
