About Lynzi
Hello everyone! I've been singing since the age of 3 and performing since the age of 6. I am not only an experienced music teacher with a passion for music and teaching, but an experienced performer, and songwriter. I started performing at a young age with the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts, and as I grew older I studied different techniques such as speech level singing, classical, and even techniques from Brett Manning, one of the most amazing vocal coaches today who teaches artists such as Haley Williams from Paramore. I have experience performing many styles of music, and also was a voice major in college. The students I teach will benefit from my contemporary techniques, and can learn to sing in almost any style of music they choose.

*** Lesson Details ***
Do you want to learn how to sing your favorite song just like the artist?
I can teach you the techniques! Or how about how to make a cover song your own based off of your own unique voice? We can work together to find, develop, and build the amazing qualities that you have in your voice. I will not only work on aspects of what you would like to improve on with your voice personally, but I will make an individual plan for you that will dramatically improve your voice! I will work with you individually to strengthen any weakness you may have in a fun environment. I am fun, encouraging and motivating! When asking students to do any vocal exercises, I will explain what the certain exercise does to improve your voice so that you can have the knowledge you need to be a good vocalist, and not just know how to sing properly. You will learn many things in lessons and what I teach you will vary on where you are vocally.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a keyboard, CD, Boom box, music sheets, etc. Students do not need to provide anything.

*** Specialties ***
Speech level singing method, classical techniques, singing success, various genres including: pop, blues, contemporary, and musical theatre. I utilize the different techniques I have learned through proper classical training, but mix it with contemporary methods I have learned from speech level singing methods.

About Fernando
Hello there! My name is Fernando, and I bring lots of profession playing and teaching experience to the table. I am an active musician in several local bands of various styles and genres, including jazz bands, Latin jazz bands, sax quartets, church groups, and musicals. I have played across southern California, several other states including Nevada (Reno Jazz Festival), Portugal, and Mexico.

I have a Master of Music in Conducting from Messiah College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, from CSUF. I also hold a valid California Teaching Credential, which I completed through CSUF. I also hold an Associate of Arts degree in Music from Fullerton College.

I am currently the director of bands at Savanna High School in Anaheim, CA. I teach 3 concert band groups, Jazz band, and marching band. Previously, I was the I
nstrumental and Choral Music Teacher at Buena Park Jr. High School, in the city of Buena Park, where I taught band, orchestra, percussion, and choir.

I have also taught woodwinds for various high schools across southern California, as well as a marching/visual coach for marching bands.

I front and lead my own Christian Contemporary Band. We've recorded two albums, of which I have composed the original music/lyrics, and produced both albums. We are currently working on our third album.

I can teach everything from jazz, to classical, rock, blues, Latin genres (salsa, merengue, bolero, mambo, etc.), and even contemporary Christian music in both English and Spanish.

I mix all of these experiences and knowledge into a big melting pot, and apply it very efficiently and wisely so that my students can positively benefit from a wonderful and exciting real-world musical journey!

*** Lesson Details ***
I base my lessons around the student's needs for musical growth, and their own likes and dislikes. If there is something specific that the student wants to learn, as far as a style/genre or piece of music, I foster that and I help encourage musical growth and enjoyment around that.
I am constantly encouraging my students to listen to as much music as possible, or better yet, to watch and listen to as much live music as possible. I strongly believe that this nurtures musical growth and serves as a role model.
I am very patient and laid back, but I do expect the student to have fun while staying constant with individual practice. There is no substitution for perseverance, consistency, and hard work, but it doesn't mean that we will not have fun while we make music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
An upright Yamaha acoustic piano is available, along with a Korg and Kurzweil digital keyboards, music stands, computer music software for studying repertoire (music), a large collection/library of books containing scales, exercises, music, etc. I also can make copies or print something for you if necessary. A sound system is available for listening to something is necessary. Flute, saxophone, and clarinet students must provide their own instrument, but I can point you in the right direction in terms of acquiring an instrument either for purchase or rental from a local music retail store.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students must provide their own instrument, except piano if student comes to my home for lessons. Student must also provide books (as assigned), and metronome for practicing at home. I can carry with me things such as: saxophone, clarinet, flute, a portable music stand, metronome/tunes, pencil, paper, and any other book(s) or materials as needed.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach classical, jazz/contemporary, funk, latin, blues, contemporary Christian, improvisation and music theory at very advanced levels.

About Alison
Thank you for visiting my profile!

As a professional musician, I have played in various ensembles including orchestras, opera companies, wind ensembles, chamber groups, musicals and more. The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO), presenting 3-5 concerts a year, has been my orchestral home since 2013 and I have had the privilege of playing principal oboe with them all throughout.

As a music educator I have years of experience teaching privately and in classrooms, for individuals and groups. I craft lessons to the needs and interests of each student, to ensure they are getting the most out of our time together. Many of my students enjoy, for example, video game and TV show music - so, these pieces are some of the repertoire we'll work on together. My goals as a teacher are to instill proper playing technique, guide how to
shape the music, establish good practice habits, and above all find ways to connect students with the music they're studying. At the end of the day, we play music because it's fun!

Degrees:
Master's in Music Performance, NYU
Bachelor's in Music Education, The College of New Jersey

*** Equipment ***
Students should own/rent their instrument, assigned methods book(s)/sheet music, reeds, reed soaking container (for oboe), a music stand, neck strap (saxes)

About Josiah
At the age of four, after watching a group of children playing their violins on the television show, “Sesame Street”, I became inspired to learn how to play the violin. Since that time I have studied violin with Daniel Vega-Albela, Dr. Joseph Koob and Renata Knific. In 2006, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Studies. During my undergraduate studies, I learned beginning jazz guitar and improvisation from jazz guitarist, John Riemer. Leading up to my attending WMU, I had participated in Master Classes with Sally O’Reilly, Dr. Barry Ross, Stephen Clapp, Benny Kim, Katie Lansdale, David Barg, and Ronda Cole. I was a member of the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony for five years and I was the concertmaster during my senior year. I also won the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony’s soloist competition duri
ng my senior year of High School. I was a featured youth soloist with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra during their youth concerts in 2003. I also performed as a soloist on WMUK’s radio program, “Bravo!” I played in the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra for two years. Over the years I have attended several different summer music institutes including “Aria” in Muncie, Indiana, “Steven’s Point” in Steven’s Point, Wisconsin, “Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp” in Muskegon, Michigan, and “Sound Encounters” in Ottawa, Kansas.

In addition to playing classical and jazz music, I thoroughly enjoy the music of the fiddle. I have played fiddle with a few different bands in Chicago, IL, Virginia Beach, VA and Southwest Michigan. I have played in numerous pit orchestras for musical theater productions in the Southwest Michigan area.

In addition to being an accomplished musician, I have been happily teaching music lessons for the past six years. As a Certified Suzuki teacher, I believe in providing a positive, nurturing environment for my students to learn. I am committed to providing a friendly approach to teaching music lessons. I strive to make the learning process fun and interesting for them. I respect my students. I love helping each one of them find creative ways to achieve their unique set of musical goals. I teach classical, jazz, bluegrass and rock music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons take place in a large class room at a local church conveniently located right off of I-94. There is a lobby area with chairs where the parents can wait. Parents can also watch their younger children in the nursery area.

To start: If you don't already have an instrument, I will help you find a nice one and the proper equipment. I will also provide you with recordings of the music that you will be learning. I believe that listening to your pieces ahead of time is a great help when it comes time to learn them.

During your first three to six months of lessons, I will discover your main learning style. For example, you may learn music more easily using a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic approach. You will have lots of fun developing a beautiful tone on your instrument as we focus our attention on developing your technique. I will show you how to practice the music on your own so that you can make the most of your practice time. Your confidence and self-esteem will increase as you build a repertoire of music from the very beginning of our time together.

As you progress in your musical skills and artistic development, you will become fluent in performing your favorite pieces. Each lesson contains technical and musical points covered in a carefully thought out, step-by-step progression. You will eventually gain the skills and knowledge to play your instrument at whatever proficiency level you desire. When teaching, I divide skills into smaller units so that you will always be successful. I like to give you immediate, honest, and specific feedback after each time you play your instrument for me. I always respect my students and acknowledge the effort that they put forth.

Since music reading skills take time to become equal to playing skills, I usually teach music reading skills after the first six to eight months of lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Classrooms in building, space for parents to wait in lobby, nursery for parents with younger children.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching fiddle and the classical Suzuki violin and viola method.

My son had just expressed interest in acting so we worked with Kate in 6 sessions helping him become more comfortable with auditioning, cold reading and scene work. She was attentive, creative and knowledgeable. She made him feel confident and even helped him make some connections with possible agents and managers. The fact that she’s actively auditioning and knows the current state of the industry is a game changer! We continue to work with her for specific auditions and coachings, she’s awesome!

Anytime I'd be working on a monologue or a scene, she would always allow me to do what I felt my instincts were driving me to do and then she'd have insightful conversations afterwards where I'd think about things I wasn't thinking of before, regarding the character or the scene. It gave me a completely new perspective to try the scene again where we'd then tweak things that needed tweaking. She's got a great eye and ear for this stuff!

My teaching philosophy is a student-centered method.
I encourage students
1. Set up their own goal of playing (such as learning a new song, audition for a spot in the youth orchestra, pass the level 3 ABRSM/ LCM Exam, improving the playing in the school band, making self-recorded music performance video, etc.)
