*** Lesson Details ***
I teach weekly lessons, with daytime and evening hours available, Monday through Thursday . I recommend an hour lesson. I give vocalizations to practice and develop good technique. Repertoire/songs are chosen by the student and myself. I encourage students to be well-rounded and try different genres/styles and even give me a "wish list" of songs they would like to learn. I give guidelines on how much to practice and what to practice. I help train the student's eye and ear and work with harmonization/parts, if needed. I help the student to develop their voice with strength, stamina, clarity, resonation, projection, expressiveness, and emotional impact. Progress will be continually evident throughout the students' study. Lessons are recorded on CD for every lesson, as this is a great efficient learning tool.

I chose Alayne A. for my teen daughter's voice teacher based solely on her credentials, which are extremely impressive! However, actually getting to know Alayne and her style I am so very glad we chose her. My daughter has grown and it is due to Alayne's style and professionalism. Awesome teacher!

About Paul
I began taking drum lessons at a very early age and continued on and off with various teachers for the better part of twenty years. I will always be grateful to them for the knowledge and wisdom they imparted on me and for the positive influence they have had on my life, especially the ones with whom I really bonded and who were essentially mentors to me while I studied with them.

As a teacher, there is no better feeling than seeing a student make progress and knowing that you helped him or her along the way, while at the same time not taking the credit, as it is always the student who has the harder job, who must do the real work. I always feel tremendous satisfaction when a student masters a difficult rudimentary exercise for the first time, or is able to execute a challenging rhythm pattern on the drum set. The expression on their
faces often conveys pride over their achievement, and I can often sense a boost in their self-esteem. This is why I teach.

I began playing drums when I was around twelve years old, and played throughout grade school, high school and college, in school jazz bands and musical pit bands, as well as playing in many rock bands over the years. I began teaching drums shortly after graduating from college, eventually relocating to New York City, where I lived for 12 years and where I continued playing and teaching, as well as taking lessons on and off. I was very fortunate to study with Joe Morello - famous for his tenure with Dave Brubeck and especially on the classic recording "Take Five." I have also played on several recordings, toured throughout the Northeast and Midwest, and have performed at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the Miami Music Festival, and have been overseas a few times for some European dates. Since moving to Orlando in late 2009, I played with a cover band, played drums and percussion in the orchestras for musical productions at community theaters, and currently play with a local Orlando rock band called the Cosmic Roots Collective.

To me, teaching drums is more than simply writing notes on a page of manuscript paper and having students practice and perform exercises. It is about connecting and showing them how expressing themselves musically can be one of the most fulfilling activities one can pursue. It is also about helping them really get in touch with their own sense of rhythm, the foundation of all music. When I take on new students, it is always my goal that I can help foster in them the same passion for and love of learning to play drums as the great teachers who taught me.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plan will be based on the student's level and goals. If the student is a beginner, we will start off with basic hand technique, rudiments, reading, etc., before moving on to the drum set. Playing along with a metronome will also be a regular part of lessons and should be with practice as well.

At the drum set, I will give students exercises for developing coordination and independence. They will also learn to play basic beats for different music styles, e.g. rock, jazz, funk, latin, with a focus on execution, time and feel. I have a wide assortment of drum books spanning all levels from which we can work out of or use examples. I also ask my students what songs they want to learn to play on the drums so that together we can figure out the beats to them. I ultimately want them to be able to transcribe the beats to these songs themselves, as well as create their own beats.

I may also talk a little about the history of drumming and the pioneers of the instrument, and we may also listen to records and watch videos of some of the masters in action.

I also occasionally like to "jam" with my students. as I have a piano and a few guitars in my practice room and a modicum of ability on both instruments.

As far as expectations, I assume my students are taking lessons because they want to learn to play the drums. And, as with any learning endeavor, practicing is very important. That said, I won't demand they practice a certain number of hours per week, as they need to decide how much time they have or are willing to put into it, and I expect this will vary from student to student. I realize that everyone has his or her own aptitudes and situations, so we can work together to determine the appropriate pace and amount of material to cover per week. However, if it appears to me that the student has not practiced the lesson, or is not putting in the time necessary to make progress, I will politely point it out and ask how I can help.

I am laid back and very patient. I never want my students to feel pressured or anxious about coming to lessons; I always strive to create a comfortable and relaxed environment in which they can learn and have fun at the same time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
A designated music room with an electronic drum set (Roland V Drums), digital piano, and a couple of guitars and amplifiers

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a practice pad or snare drum and sticks to the first lesson, if he or she is a beginner, although I prefer them to have these already if possible. After that, I expect the student to buy sticks, a pad and if necessary a stand to mount it, a metronome, music manuscript paper, and have a comfortable seat to sit on, if not a drum stool. If they are at the intermediate level and/or have already started on the drum set, then they need to have their own set in their home.

*** Specialties ***
Basic hand technique for beginners, eventually incorporating an extra limb, usually the bass drum first.

Rock and basic funk, jazz, and latin. Also basic musical notation. Ultimately, I would like the student to be able to transcribe the beats from some of their favorite songs, as well as write their own!

PIANO TEACHER/TUTOR BIO:

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and emigrated with my family to the United States, moving to Brooklyn in 1962 at the age of 9. I began my piano training in Brazil at the age of 7 and continued my studies in New York. I speak three languages fluently - English, Portuguese and Spanish.

While continuing piano lessons at the Long Island Conservatory of Music, I found my passion for teaching while still a student. During my early teaching career, I apprenticed with the conservatory's director, master teacher, composer and author of educational books, Sidney J. Lawrence. While shaping my philosophy of teaching, Mr. Lawrence became my mentor and friend. I taught 3-4 year olds in preschool music pedagogy classes while also teaching piano in a career that spans more than 40 years of working with children and a
dults at all levels.

I am able to adapt my teaching style to my students' unique way of thinking and communicate musical concepts in a way they can understand. I believe in not only teaching how to play the piano, but also the "language of music." This provides students with a holistic understanding that encompasses theory, technique, sight reading, basic composition, and performance, all while sharing my personal joy of music.

I am currently living in Clermont, FL and am specializing in teaching teens and adults. I feel that high expectations for my students encourages them to reach for the best of themselves, achieve the highest standards and carry their musical training into their future lives.

My children started lessons with Ms. Rosely when they were 5yrs. and 9yrs. old. They've been with her for almost a year and a half now, and love the piano! Her teaching style, relaxed but disciplined nature, and love of music, have been incredibly infectious. They look forward to each lesson, and love performing at the recitals she plans twice a year. We couldn't be prouder of their progress, and happier with their teacher and the experience she provides! Thank you Ms. Rosely!

About Christian
My name is Christian L. and I am a 28 year old guitar/music instructor in the Orlando area. My interest in guitar began when I was 12 years old and blossomed into a full time obsession about 3 years later when I started playing small gigs as a solo guitarist playing simple jazz and classical pieces for small art clubs and events. Alongside gigging, I also began teaching guitar, ear training, and music theory when I turned 18 and have been teaching full time ever since. During that time I also spent 4 years in music school for classical guitar. Currently I spend my time teaching, recording, and performing various styles including rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop, musical theater, metal, and country.

Throughout the 8 years I have been an instructor I believe I have refined my teaching style to be as versatile as possible to accommodate any learn
ing style a student may have. I am capable of teaching all styles of guitar at any skill level with an emphasis on ear training and general knowledge of guitar techniques.

Slight disclaimer in regards to lesson length, price, and student interest:

Over the past year or so I have tried a new teaching structure that I find to be quite rewarding for myself and the students I have had. My lessons do not have a maximum time limit, meaning a lesson could go for 2 hours, if that is what the student wanted, for the same price as a 45 min lesson.

This may sound strange in that I would be losing out on a large amount of potential money but the simple answer is this: I love music and guitar as well as teaching music and guitar. If we are in the middle of a great topic that you, the student, is really interested in, there is no way that I am simply going to stop talking about it when the "timer" stops and there is no way I am going to charge you more for getting into a topic you want to learn.

I find that students who spend more time in the lessons tend to become more interested in guitar and thus, better at playing. I do have to instill a minimum time limit of 45 mins however, any less is honestly just not enough time to get anything worth while accomplished.

One last thing, music and guitar have made up the majority of my daily routine for the past 10 or so years and have literally paid for everything that I currently own as I have never had any other type of job. What this means is that I take the craft very seriously and I project that in the lessons. Basically, if you are genuinely interested in learning guitar and music at any skill level, I will show you everything I possibly can to let you meet your goals. However, if you do not take it seriously, as in you don't pick up or even think about the guitar except for lesson days, the lessons may quickly feel pointless.

For more information on what I teach, feel free to look into the category entitled "Guitar" as well as any of the other subcategories that you are interested in.

Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am looking forward to teaching you everything I know about music! I've been singing at Walt Disney World for over 23 years (and I still am currently) with the Voices of Liberty, the Dapper Dans of Main Street, and Four For A Dollar. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University. Even more than singing, playing the guitar, arranging for a cappella, and playing piano, I love to teach! Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I've wanted to be a teacher of music in various capacities. My favorite aspect of teaching several private students each week is that every individual student has a different story: What is it that you want to accomplish? Would you like to sing, play piano, or play guitar? Would you like training in music theory? Do you want to eventually have a career in m
usic? Will this be a hobby for you? Whatever your goals are, I am excited to know your story.

Making music and Teaching music has always been a huge part of my life! Music has brought such joy to my personal life and the lives of my students and their friends and family. I teach music because it is such a wonderful experience for everyone involved from the practice room to the performance. I hold a Degree in Music Education from Kent State Univ. I have conducted both chorus and orchestra, established small singing groups and founded the Strings of Gold. I promised my own children that music would bring adventures, and they are all performing throughout the world today. Many of my private students experience new friendships at music camps, orchestras, bands, churches, and find a wonderful purpose in school through their participation in music programs. Cara is the best music teacher we've ever met. My daughter Amanda (now 6 years old) started learning piano from her 8 months ago. Before that Amanda learned piano for 1 year but didn't have good progress. Now, Not only can Amanda play piano very well, but also she can play violin well for 5 variations of Twinkle Twinkle, after only 9 violin classes from Cara. The most important thing is: Amanda is falling love with the music, which I believe will benefit her whole life. In our opinion, experience, fun, discipline and child-centered are the key to Cara's teaching success. We have met with her husband (a retired band director), and two daughters (both professional violinists), we can feel their love to the music and really admire their music skill.

Our friends thought we were crazy when they knew the fact that we need to drive 60 minutes single trip to take the weekly lesson, but after they see Amanda playing piano and violin, they think it well deserves it.

Cara is the best music teacher for kids in Metro-Orlando area. If you want your kid to fall in love with music, she is your best choice. Go Cara!

About Kristen
I have been teaching voice and piano in the Dr. Phillips/Windermere area for over five years. My studio is a fun learning environment and I take great pride in finding out what each students' goals are. I have a studio near Disney, off 535. I do travel to students' homes on occasion, if my schedule allows. Lastly, there is always a very fun end-of-the-year recital.

Please note for singing, I teach a classical technique that lends itself to Classical and Musical Theatre types of singing.

My experience in music starts from an early age playing piano and singing in choirs. I attended Dr. Phillips High School, was apart of the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet and graduated with the Voice Department's Most Outstanding Graduate Award. I eventually earned a B.M. in Voice Performance from Palm Beach Atlantic University and I have recently
received my Masters from UCF in Music.

Here is my professional bio:

Kristen, mezzo-soprano, has appeared as a soloist with the Palm Beach Symphony, Palm Beach Atlantic University Concert Choir, Palm Beach Atlantic University Oratorio Chorus and in the Palm Beach Atlantic International Piano Festival. Kristen has been a featured staff soloist in recital, concert and worship with the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. She has also been seen on the opera stage as part of the chorus with Florida Opera Theatre and Palm Beach Atlantic’s Opera Workshop performing scenes as Rosina in Il barbieri di Siviglia and Cheubino in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Kristen as a chorister, has sung with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Choir, Atlanta’s up and coming Chamber Choir, Coro Vocati and Miami’s Seraphic Fire in their Professional Choral Institute Program. She has recorded with Stetson University’s Concert Choir: Duruflé Requiem and Seraphic Fire’s Professional Choral Institute, Brahms’ Ein Deutches Reqiuem, Op. 45, which was honored with a GRAMMY nomination.

A native of Florida, Kristen received her B.M. in Voice Performance from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She graduated cum laude, as a member of Who’s Who Among Universities and Colleges and received the University's Music Department’s Outstanding Graduate Award. Recently, Kristen received her M.A. in Music at the University of Central Florida.
