I have been teaching piano for over twenty years, with many of my students participating in international competitions and regularly receiving state honors from the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). Teaching is truly more than a career for me - it is a passion that guides my interaction with all of my students, no matter their age and skillset.
If in addition to pursuing piano as a hobby, you would like to participate in the MTAC Certificate of Merit examinations and earn credit for your studies, you are more than welcome to do so. As a member of the MTAC, my students boast a 100% pass rate (with the vast majority receiving perfect scores on both the performance and music theory sections).
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Can't wait to meet you! :-)

The saxophone can be one of the funnest instruments to play, no questions asked! In order to reach that point it's important to have certain things in order such as: sound production, breath support, musicality, and technique. In lessons use a variety of exercises and method/etude books, playing duets together, as well as listening and ear training to give my students a well rounded approach to the saxophone and music helping them to become the best musician they can be.

My daughter Lili had been playing for four years and Bill stepped in with techniques that really took her musicianship to the next level. He is patient, organized and, per Lili, "A dope dude."
Bill has helped Lili with music that she is working on for marching and concert band at school while creating customized warm ups specifically for her. During the pandemic he has been flexible with his schedule, generous with his time and has kept Lili motivated in her music and on track while her school bands have had a hard time playing together.
He is a pro who is communicative, responsive, and punctual for all of the lessons.
I highly recommend Bill as a teacher. He and his band put on a pretty good show as well!

If you want a teacher who will teach you how to play the piano correctly (fundamentals, technique, not just playing the right notes) from the start, then you've come to right place.
My philosophy of music is to foster a love of music in every student, work together as a partnership, and most of all, to have fun! I believe everyone can learn to play the piano and there is no required talent.
I have seven years of experience teaching all ages, from age 3 to over eighty. I have taught over 100 students and can teach all levels and abilities. I do recitals, masterclasses and exam testing, all of which are available to the student, if they want. I specialize in teaching adults and childhood music.
I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with my Master's Degree in Piano Pedagogy. I graduated in 2017 with my Bachelors in Music from UC Irvine. I studied with Nina Scolnik, a Juilliard graduate and an outstanding piano pedagogue. I recently received the Tierney Scholarship at UCI.
When I took piano lessons as a kid, little did I know that my teacher was not actually teaching me anything. For years. It wasn’t until well after I had left that teacher that I realized I was far behind other people. Why should that matter to you? A quality teacher will save you hundreds,

Aside from doing the all-important breathing and scale work I learned the secret of an effective vibrato. She explained it in a very simple way. For me it was a revelation to think of it like this; an immediate breakthrough for me!
I was sent home with some breathing exercises and scale work as well as how to effectively sing the song I had brought along to work on with her.
Cyndi has a beautiful soul and is a very effective and positive teacher.

With the spread of the coronavirus, life as we know it is moving indoors. In many major cities, schools are closed, restaurants and bars are shut down, events are postponed, and employees are working from home. As we self-quarantine and spend more time inside, there is a growing need to occupy our time in …
