Chris H. Waldorf, MD

About Chris

I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. I am a member of American Strings Teacher's Association, National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association), and the Music Teachers National Association (Music Teachers Association of Charles County). As a teacher, I'm very student oriented. We move at your pace. The more you practice, the faster we move. I do encourage learning to read music, but I use multiple ways of teaching to reach my students. Everyone learns in a different way. My primary job is to see you achieve your goals in relation to your instrument. I also encourage that you take every opportunity to perform. There are many groups in the ...

Excellent

Ms. Heins is an amazing teacher. I have been learning Violin from her for over two years now and I love it. She explains things clearly and if I am stuck on a piece she helps me out. She encourages me to do my best and participate in different competitions and activities. I love playing violin with her.

Awesome Instructor!

It's evident she cares for her students....very patient with my daughter, my daughter has been under her care for about two yrs now, even sparking her interest to play another string instrument!

I cannot say how appreciative our family is of Ms. Heins and would certainly recommend her.
Nicole C. Waldorf, MD

About Nicole

As a voice teacher and voice coach I strive to help the student get to where they want to be vocally. For me singing is something that brings me joy and I hope to be able to share that with you. It took me a while to realize how much music and singing means to me. While studying something entirely different at the University of Maryland, I began studying voice and realized that it was something that I had a gift for. I fell in love with singing art songs, jazz and opera arias. And while studying at the University of Maryland, I had the opportunity to work as a voice teacher/ section leader with the women's section of a choir, numerous opportunities to work as a soloist and in a few jazz clubs. I was also involved in dance performances and acted as a dance tutor. Later, when I ...

Valencia V. Fort Washington, MD

About Valencia

I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge. I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, ...

The absolute best

I sang most of my life and never knew that I had the weaknesses that I did and I am so grateful that I chose Valencia to be my singing instructor! She is very informative and has taught me to think about singing in a way I never have. I am learning now that my voice is an instrument and with her help my voice and range will go on another level! She is also very flexible! Couldn't ask for a better instructor!

Valencia suits my learning style!

I must say that I need to understand what I'm trying to do and Valencia really gave me insight into musical theory and technical singing. Learning about diaphrafm breathing and seeing your voice as an "instrument" has opened me up to a new world of breathing in general as it relates to relaxation, yoga, meditation and yes even exercise!

She helped me determine my vocal range #I'm a tenor!# and she gives solid feedback for what you need to practice before your next lesson.

Definitely value for money!

If there was anyway to give John 6 stars I would! John is the best teacher and also a really great guy all around. John is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from my lessons with him. John is a very patient instructor which helped make the lessons better. I would be remiss not to mention his cool cat Mr. Buttons who would often come down just to listen in on our lessons and even the occasional jam session we would have afterwards. Thank you for all that you do John!

William T. Alexandria, VA

About William

My interest in music began when I was about 8 years old and learned to play the piano. A few years later, I joined the middle school band and fell in love with the trombone. I've played the trombone almost everyday for 17 years and I'm now a member of the prestigious US Air Force Band in Washington D.C. I have a passion for teaching that is rarely matched. I love seeing the light bulb turn on when a student begins to understand specific concepts that unlock the next level of musicianship. This inspires me to keep inspiring the student! I'm one of the most patient teachers, not minding if a student is working hard but has trouble grasping something. I'll work through it many different ways until it clicks. I taught freshman level music theory and ear-training at the ...

Will has been so wonderful for my son. My son started piano lessons over a year ago at age 13 and now at 15 is continuing in music, with drive, passion, and enthusiasm, all which he has modeled after Will's character. It can be difficult and frustrating for a teenager to take on a new discipline, and Will is exceptional at relating to my son, encouraging him, and even teaching him using music my son is interested in. His ability to use multiple teaching approaches, explain the techniques, and understand what is going on in the mind of the student is phenomenal. I'm a college professor myself, and Will is an outstanding teacher. He is backed by amazing professional credentials, I trust him in my home, and trust him to provide high quality education for any age student. He was always early or on time, he was always prepared, and he always had thought about the best way to approach the next lesson. He's one of a kind. If you're looking to hire someone to teach your child about music, or if you are interested in learning yourself, Will is the man for the job.

Will is extremely professional. Our 12 year old daughter transferred schools in the middle of 6th grade and was really struggling with catching up to the students in her class. In a matter of weeks Will helped her get caught up and feel confident again! She was very comfortable with him, too. We would recommend Will 100%!!

Thank you will for everything!!! :)

Excellent Piano Teacher

William Is a very professional, knowledgeable and patient instructor. My 10 year old son had taken lesson before but William has taken my son's skills to a level that has him playing the complicated version of Fur Elise. My son can easily lose focus but William's excellent teaching techniques has gotten him to focus on the piano were he now memorizing complex classical music pieces. My son looks forward to piano lessons and this is attributed to the professionalism William displays and how he interacts with my son. In a fairly short period of time my son has made great strides under William's teaching. One of the best investments I have made for my son!
