About Gail
In 2018, I moved with my family from California to Texas, and found even more of what I love: music! Fort Worth is a music-loving area, and I'm happy to be here.
I began teaching began by accident when my twins entered a TK program. Their teacher asked for help with music - how could I turn down that request? I successfully wrote and taught the music program that I used for K-2 grade students at that school, and now teach violin and viola to beginner through intermediate students, advanced for viola.
I specialize in working with younger children, but love teaching kids of all ages (even adults!).
As a teacher, I am flexible and fun-lo
I'm classically trained, but love all music, especially baroque, renaissance and Celtic styles. Medieval and renaissance music has a special place in my heart because I spent several years playing it as part of a string quartet.
I am available for online lessons all over the world, and I'm happy to record them so you can review them all week long.

A typical lesson consists of checking student's progress, addressing any immediate issues, and developing technique/knowledge.
In 3-6 months, your child should be:
* Reading music consistently at a level appropriate to their progress.
* Developing an understanding of rhythm and meter.
* Placing their fingers properly for the most part.
* Developing correct posture and holding their instrument and bow in a relaxed manner that suits their body type and facilitates the freedom of movement required for making great music.
I specialize in working with kids of all ages - from 5 to 95!

MY PHILOSOPHY
Music touches our lives every day. Music is there for us to help express our emotions feelings, fears and hopes. With what you learn in your lessons you will be able to make your own music, whether it be from the printed page or something that you have composed yourself. I will provide a teaching environment that will be encouraging and caring. We will work together to create great music from your very own fingers and who knows, maybe one day you will share your talent with the world!!!
MY EDUCATION
My story started on the day my mom said “HAPPY BIR
I studied piano for 6 years with a local teacher and then moved on to a teacher who could help me with more complex music. I was only able to study with her for a short time because we moved to a new town. There I found the greatest piano teacher ever. He helped me grow in my playing and performing.
After graduating from high school, I was accepted at Illinois Wesleyan University where I studied piano with Dr. Carol Thibodeaux. I also sang in the collegiate choir and had a great time in theory classes and music history.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have had many other great experiences as a musician and teacher that include:
1. I have played and sung at many weddings, parties, and social events.
2. I continue to accompany band and orchestra students even though I am no longer teaching in schools.
3. I directed the Bell Singers choir from AT&T for about 10 years.
4. I was the music & youth director for the First United Methodist church in McKinney, TX were I lead the adult choir. I also create a children’s choir program which was a great success. I was also the substitute organist when needed.
I have been involved with music of all kinds over the last 40 years and am looking forward to carrying on for many more years to come!

*** Studio Equipment ***
baby grand piano, white boards, etc. , in a room dedicated to music
*** Travel Equipment ***
I would provide the teaching aids, writing materials . The student would have to have a piano, bench, chair and lesson books.
*** Specialties ***
I believe young students like to learn with touching and doing. I've use materials from Bastien, Thompson, Aaron along with aids I create for students to get the best learning experience. With adult students, we discuss what the goal is for taking lessons and in what ways they learn best.

Styles and techniques include Rock, Country, Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, Shred, Slide Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Slap Bass, to name a few.

Lessons in my home stud
I also find that students who are at home (especially the children) tend to be more distracted, whether it's from lack of privacy due to the area chosen for the lessons, or often (again, this goes especially for the kids) there are pets that they like to play with while I'm trying to talk to them.
When they're guests in my home, however, I find I have their strict attention.
*** Specialties ***
I am primarily a guitar player specializing in electric lead guitar and solo acoustic guitar/vocal performance. I also teach beginner to advanced bass guitar, primarily finger-style.

We had to set up our home computer for web chat, but it seems to work very well and we can definitely hear my son's improvement week to week (he just started playing this fall). Carl is very patient and will send you music files and links that he thinks will help your student. Overall four thumbs up from the student and his (non-saxophone playing) parent.
