Throughout my studies of theory and harmony, I realized how valuable it is to learn the basics of the guitar. I studied the guitar independently to learn the fingerings of the most useful chords. Students anxious to be able to play a song right off the bat are often pleased to discover that they can play through a whole song using only two or three chords. The guitar provides students with endless possibilities; they can experiment with different rhythms, never having to play a song the same way twice.
I grew up listening to classical music; I remember listening to a Mozart and a Grieg tape over and over again. By high school, I was interested in more recent popular music that carried on in the same tradition of greatness. Andrew Lloyd Webber first caught my attention. From there, I listened to the music of the ‘60s and became quite knowledgeable in the British Invasion. My ear for this type of music allows me to teach the guitar and provide students with an ample repertoire.

I am a professional cellist with years of performing and teaching.
I attended the Jacobs School of Music for my undergraduate and masters' degrees and was a graduate teaching assistant. I also received my Stott Pilates Teaching Certification while at IU and incorporate postural alignment into my teaching.
