About Keith
I specialize in teaching and performing Country, Blues, and Rock n Roll (to name a few) along with a variety of other musical styles. Because of my experience and educational background, I am able to help my students learn what they "need to know" in order to play the songs they want to play. Students will benefit from my unique teaching methods. I won't waste any time learning things that don't apply to your personalized objectives. You tell me what you want to be able to do and I will teach you what you need to know to get there.

Here is some more information about my experience and educational background.

I've been a working musician almost my entire adult life. I’m a student of the guitar as well as a teacher.
Here is a little about my background. I started teaching guitar lessons to a few students in my home in 1978. Wow c
an’t believe it was that long ago. That led me to teaching private guitar lessons at two different music stores as well as guitar class for an adult continuing education program. After a run of 15 years and graduation with a Masters degree in Adult Learning and Development I became a serious student of the guitar studying around the country and in Canada. During this entire time I performed as a working musician in several bands. I’m currently the leader of three different musical groups performing locally and mostly on weekends. I have a easy going personality and a user friendly teaching style tailored to the students individual needs. But most of all I just enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge and experience with others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can teach a student how to:
Read music and tablature
Form and play chords needed to play songs
Music Theory and ear training
Good Timing
Proper right and left hand technique
Both Lead and Rhythm techniques
Acoustic and Electric guitar
And I can help the experienced player break bad playing habits and advance to higher levels of playing.
I like to incorporate visual and audio aide as well as demonstration when I teach.
I use all or part of these teaching methods and more in order to enhance the learning experience. I always base my instruction on the needs, abilities and goals of the student..

*** Studio Equipment ***
Basement studio w/ guitar, amps, keyboard, pa system, vocal microphones and seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
Country, Blues, Light Jazz, Classic Rock, Motown, Soul. Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Soloing, Chords and progressions and reading music and preparing for performance. Vocals and Guitar.

Keith is definitely a great teacher! He knows all the theory but he uses it the very best way....to teach you to PLAY the guitar. Everything is directed at PLAYING the guitar. No time is wasted on "nice to know" vs "need to know." He's always been in a band (as he is right now) so he knows the ins and outs of actually playing the instrument. No fluff....just learning.

I couldn't be happier with Keith. He explains complicated concepts in techniques in a way that's easy to follow and implement with that day's lesson plan. He clearly lays out the origin of how certain notes and chords were developed in order to give you the full picture of what it is you're practicing.
He's very laid back and patient and a joy to work with.

About George F.
IMPORTANT - REGARDING MY AVAILABILITY PLEASE NOTE:

The availability listed on the calendar is NOT my FULL availability. Because I am a full-time teacher AND performer, my schedule flexes throughout the year and the hours listed are a limited window of what I may actually have for you. I am very flexible and try to accommodate everyone. Depending on the time of year, I usually have night hours on two days a week and teach on many Saturday mornings / afternoons as well. Click on the 'Ask George F. A Question' button on the right if you have any questions about availability and/or be sure to ask your TakeLessons rep about the schedule as you go option when you set up lessons for the first time so we can find a time that works for both of our schedules!

I've been playing and singing music professionally for about 25 years. As a family
man and father of two, I also I earn my living and support my family with music. I have a very student-driven teaching style, work with students of all ages, with focus on helping the student achieve his or her individual goals, small or large. I try to keep the lessons fun but focused at the same time.

I bring a balanced and personalized teaching style to my lessons, based on a well rounded education and wide range of real-world life experience. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts and have performance experience on many different fronts, from local rock cover bands to Top 40, from acoustic soloist to fronting a nationally touring Metallica tribute.

I come from a musical family - my father is also a pro musician. The biggest thing I've learned as a teacher of guitar, bass and voice is teaching the instrument has only made me a bigger student. The learning process never ends and that is one of the great things about music.

No matter where you are with the instrument - a beginner picking it up for the first time, or a seasoned pro of 10 years that just needs help "putting it together," I believe I can help you to get wherever you want to go.

Regarding availability - make sure to inquire if you don't see a time open that suits you - I am flexible. I perform 4-6 times a week and teach full time. Flex lessons tend to work very well.

I was extremely nervous about starting singing lessons even though it was something I've always wanted to do. George put me at ease and helped me feel comfortable right from the beginning. He has a great sense of humor and is very down to earth, so my time at my lessons just flies by! I highly recommend George as he is knowledgeable and very competent as a singing/music instructor!! He's awesome!!

Amazing first lesson!! :) I'm a beginner with very little musical experience beyond picking up my violin once in a while, and by the end of our 45 minutes Marilyn had me playing a couple of different rhythms and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She covered the bow hold and how to position the violin, where your fingers should be -- all the essential basics you would expect to learn at a first lesson. She was super, super nice and great to talk with! If you have any questions, she's happy to answer them, and it was just all around a great experience. The time went by so fast -- 45 minutes felt like 15 minutes! Can't wait for our next one!

Our 8 year old son, Ben, takes violin with Mrs. Taylor once a week. He loves the time with her & she is wonderful with him. Disciplined, but fun and always encouraging. She is so talented, which is inspiring for Ben. She is also very accommodating when our schedule gets hectic, which happens from time to time with two busy kids!

About Danae
I believe that over time, with dedication to practicing and properly structured lessons, students can become great musicians. I've seen this again and again in the 10 years since I started teaching, and I absolutely love watching young musicians grow under my guidance.

For me, teaching is a way of giving back. I am indebted to Bryan Dumm, (Cleveland Orchestra), Heidi Albert, (College of Wooster), Keith Robinson, (Kent State University), and many other well known musicians. These great teachers have taught me that good practice skills pay off in the end. Good technique makes you a better player. Also, the right focus and motivation will help you to grow, not only as a musician, but also as a person.

I provide properly structured lessons. I push my students hard to practice regularly, but it's ultimately up to the parents and the stu
dents to ensure this happens. Music provides kids with discipline, and it works the creative and analytical sides of the brain at the same time. How cool is that!

Danae has been a wonderful teacher and she has helped me tremendously with my desire to play the cello. A quietly observant instructor has a way of noticing the roadblocks and suggesting the subtle changes that can help you through them. Danae has that quality and her experience as well as her ability to pass that experience along has been key to my progress. I truly appreciate her talent and her patience.

I have been teaching violin since high school, through both group classes and private lessons. While living in Chicago, I taught through the New Music School as an adjunct faculty member. In Montreal, while studying for my Bachelor's degree at McGill University, I taught private lessons to community members and gave presentations to local school groups. Here in Cleveland, I teach as a substitute at a couple of community music schools and assist with group classes at the Cleveland Institute of Music's Sato Center for Suzuki Studies. I am registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas through Unit 1 (Pre-Twinkle and Book 1), and will be registered with Unit 2 (Books 2-4) by Winter 2018.

I provide a fun environment to study music, often using games and activities to learn musical concepts. I believe every student has the ability to
excel when given the proper environment and tools to succeed. I have worked with students of all ages, and have experience working with students with speech disorders, hearing loss, ADD, and ADHD.

I am a professional music therapist who has dedicated my professional life to sharing music with individuals with all different ability levels. I graduated from Ohio University in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy and I've been working in the Cleveland and Akron areas for the past 19 years.
I taught piano lessons for school aged children and adolescents for many of these years and I really enjoy the 1-1 interaction and the ability to customize a lesson based on the student's goals. I use all types of music (even modern rap) and I enjoy adapting music for different ability levels to keep my students motivated and excited to learn.
I also play flute and remember clearly the hard work it took to be competitive in the flute world as a young student. I can help your young flutist succeed in the school band or orchestra, p
repare for contest and competitions and play fun Holiday songs for family.
My lessons are fun and success-oriented and I enjoy challenging students when they need to be challenged. I am also sensitive to my students stress levels and anxieties and I know when it's healthy for them to take a break, work on a new piece or learn a piece of music in a new way.
I have a background check every year for my full time job and I am CPR and first aid certified.
