About Udell
I have love and a great passion for music. I have been a musician for over 30 years, I have been a private instructor in piano, organ and voice for 10 years. I have trained and arranged music for several choirs and musicians. I have been music administrator for the church I attend for 12 years. I have instructed children's music classes at The Cleveland Clinic Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. I have toured with choirs, soloist, and musicians in the United States and Canada. I play for weddings and am currently on staff as a musician at a Funeral Home.

I am a graduate of Evans Academy of Music in Buffalo, New York. I have studied music at Cuyahoga Community College.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have great patience in teaching. The piano and organ lessons start with music theory which is studied each lesson. The lessons develop into
learning scales, techniques, developing skills, learning to play songs. The singing lessons start with vocal scales and breathing exercises. Diction, pronunciation, and tone quality are perfected.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio is at a church with separate music rooms for training. Each room has a piano and organ inside and seating is available.

*** Specialties ***
I start with description of notes, meaning of symbols, measures, lines, spaces, learning to read notes, how chords are formed, teach scales and chords, introductory theory, simple sheet music of popular songs. My genres are mainly popular music, jazz, and gospel.

It was an amazing first singing lesson!! Udell is an excellent teacher. I can't wait for the next lesson. I learned so much in one lesson it was unbelievable. It is going to be a journey that I look forward to. I believe in time I will reach my goal of being able to sing Praises "in tune" for the Lord.

About George F.
IMPORTANT - REGARDING MY AVAILABILITY PLEASE NOTE:

The availability listed on the calendar is NOT my FULL availability. Because I am a full-time teacher AND performer, my schedule flexes throughout the year and the hours listed are a limited window of what I may actually have for you. I am very flexible and try to accommodate everyone. Depending on the time of year, I usually have night hours on two days a week and teach on many Saturday mornings / afternoons as well. Click on the 'Ask George F. A Question' button on the right if you have any questions about availability and/or be sure to ask your TakeLessons rep about the schedule as you go option when you set up lessons for the first time so we can find a time that works for both of our schedules!

I've been playing and singing music professionally for about 25 years. As a family
man and father of two, I also I earn my living and support my family with music. I have a very student-driven teaching style, work with students of all ages, with focus on helping the student achieve his or her individual goals, small or large. I try to keep the lessons fun but focused at the same time.

I bring a balanced and personalized teaching style to my lessons, based on a well rounded education and wide range of real-world life experience. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts and have performance experience on many different fronts, from local rock cover bands to Top 40, from acoustic soloist to fronting a nationally touring Metallica tribute.

I come from a musical family - my father is also a pro musician. The biggest thing I've learned as a teacher of guitar, bass and voice is teaching the instrument has only made me a bigger student. The learning process never ends and that is one of the great things about music.

No matter where you are with the instrument - a beginner picking it up for the first time, or a seasoned pro of 10 years that just needs help "putting it together," I believe I can help you to get wherever you want to go.

Regarding availability - make sure to inquire if you don't see a time open that suits you - I am flexible. I perform 4-6 times a week and teach full time. Flex lessons tend to work very well.

I was extremely nervous about starting singing lessons even though it was something I've always wanted to do. George put me at ease and helped me feel comfortable right from the beginning. He has a great sense of humor and is very down to earth, so my time at my lessons just flies by! I highly recommend George as he is knowledgeable and very competent as a singing/music instructor!! He's awesome!!

Learning to play a musical instrument is a skill that has been proven to improve brain activity. It is one of the only activities to engage both sides of the brain. Students who learn a musical instrument show improvement in their ability to pay attention and understand what is being taught in their academic classes. Most students retain this advantage even if they do not continue to play into adulthood.

Music is fun! It also can express your feelings in ways words cannot. I don't just teach you how to play your instrument, I will teach you to have a love for your music, and from that, you will find that it is a lot of fun! After all, you do "play" your instrument!

In addition to the violin, viola and theory lessons described below, I am also available to coach ensembles. Any combination of string instruments you are working
with, I will work with your group to improve your cohesiveness and your musical style.

Nice to have the one on one teaching experience. If you have an issue she can stop you right on the spot that is giving you an issue and tell you what your are doing incorrectly. She also tells you what you are doing right.

Megan is a great piano teacher, however she was not fully committed, she cancelled 5 sessions out of 8. When I tried to reschedule with another teacher at take lessons, they told me the only way I could sign up under another instructor was to pay for additional lessons first. I would not recommend using take lessons.

About Danae
I believe that over time, with dedication to practicing and properly structured lessons, students can become great musicians. I've seen this again and again in the 10 years since I started teaching, and I absolutely love watching young musicians grow under my guidance.

For me, teaching is a way of giving back. I am indebted to Bryan Dumm, (Cleveland Orchestra), Heidi Albert, (College of Wooster), Keith Robinson, (Kent State University), and many other well known musicians. These great teachers have taught me that good practice skills pay off in the end. Good technique makes you a better player. Also, the right focus and motivation will help you to grow, not only as a musician, but also as a person.

I provide properly structured lessons. I push my students hard to practice regularly, but it's ultimately up to the parents and the stu
dents to ensure this happens. Music provides kids with discipline, and it works the creative and analytical sides of the brain at the same time. How cool is that!

Danae has been a wonderful teacher and she has helped me tremendously with my desire to play the cello. A quietly observant instructor has a way of noticing the roadblocks and suggesting the subtle changes that can help you through them. Danae has that quality and her experience as well as her ability to pass that experience along has been key to my progress. I truly appreciate her talent and her patience.

I have been teaching violin since high school, through both group classes and private lessons. While living in Chicago, I taught through the New Music School as an adjunct faculty member. In Montreal, while studying for my Bachelor's degree at McGill University, I taught private lessons to community members and gave presentations to local school groups. Here in Cleveland, I teach as a substitute at a couple of community music schools and assist with group classes at the Cleveland Institute of Music's Sato Center for Suzuki Studies. I am registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas through Unit 1 (Pre-Twinkle and Book 1), and will be registered with Unit 2 (Books 2-4) by Winter 2018.

I provide a fun environment to study music, often using games and activities to learn musical concepts. I believe every student has the ability to
excel when given the proper environment and tools to succeed. I have worked with students of all ages, and have experience working with students with speech disorders, hearing loss, ADD, and ADHD.
