Our ultimate goal as a singer is communication, and developing a healthy technique enables us to express freely! Whether you're singing on the stage professionally, or in front of friends and family, the goal is still the same- to sing your very best- and the tools we will build together will last a lifetime!

About Julia
Julia has been teaching private voice for over 10 years. In 2006, she opened her private voice studio in Austin, TX where she completed her Graduate studies at The University of Texas. She now resides and teaches in Bergen County, New Jersey. Her students have received many honors including scholarship awards for colleges and universities, awards for solo and ensemble competitions and Texas All-State Choir, leading roles in musicals, and recording contracts! Additionally, her students perform in a wide range of genres -from National tours, Regional theater, to lead singers in rock bands. *** Lesson Details ***
What happens in a Lesson? In order to train your physical voice, it is necessary to do vocal exercises, in the same way that one needs to train at a gym. There is no "magic key" to unlock one's voice; it is a matter of daily practice and muscle strengthening/stretching. So, the first part of the lesson will be focused on vocal exercises specifically tailored to YOUR VOICE and its needs. The second half of the lesson is the fun part- SINGING! We will work on any songs and styles that YOU choose. Whether you want to sing Rock, Country, Pop, Musical Theater, or Classical, there is a healthy and communicative way to sing!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a keyboard. The student should provide a recording device, iPhone, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Classical and Broadway style singing, but have extensive experience in Contemporary Commercial Music as well. I teach a healthy approach to all styles, and modify technical approaches towards the genre that the student is most interested in.

As a vocal coach for the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Boychoir Academy and the Sweetwater Music Academy I have taught students of all ages and experience levels. In addition to teaching, I am a classically trained professional vocalist who has sung and recorded around the world in pop, jazz, rock, original and classical music.

I have recorded and performed music for brands and channels such as Old Spice, UPS, Proctor and Gamble, VH1, E! and the Oxygen Network but what I enjoy most is helping students develop and appreciate singing ... no matter where they are at on the journey in a flexible and fun way.

Please message me any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.

About Fernando
I am a professional vocalist who regularly performs with orchestras, rock bands, jazz bands and as a singer/songwriter. I teach beginners to professional touring artists and can break down the seemingly complex vocal techniques in simple to understand concepts and exercises. My focus areas are breath, placement and freedom from tension in order to increase your efficiency, stamina and flexibility between registers and musicality. (See my online tutorials for a quick idea of what it might be like to work with me)

I have a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan and have worked professionally from Opera to Pop. I started my professional music career at the age of 10, traveling the world with the American Boychoir School in Princeton, NJ. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I worked as an instructor and vocal
coach for the Grammy Award Winning Pacific Boychoir. I also sang professionally for ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Clerestory, American Bach Soloists and San Francisco Pocket Opera.

I am currently a vocal instructor for Sweetwater Music Academy, music director for the Jesters (a theatre ensemble for people with developmental disabilities) and I sing for hospital patients as a Parkview Healing Artist. I have taught grade levels K-8 in private schools so I am accustomed to all age levels.

As a songwriter I have composed and performed music for MTV, VHI, E! and the Oxygen Network, and have acted on commercials for Southern Comfort, Old Spice, & Anthem Blue Cross.

I am also the songwriter and front man for the original regional RootsRock band, Fernando T. & The Wickersham Bros and have established myself as a teaching artist for young audiences through the Carnegie Hall Link Up Concert Series.

I look forward any questions you may have and hope to help you or your child find creative fulfillment from the most unique instrument in the world- your voice!

[PLEASE NOTE: I will be teaching exclusively online from June-December 2017 period and am happy to squeeze in as many in in location lessons you would like before then]

As an instructor Fernando, listens and pays attention to what it is I’m saying and is very good at readying the tone of our class/session and can change things up/move the lesson in a different direction to better help me. Weather I’m just not getting it, or if there seams to be an exercise I get very quickly, he does not waist time in that area. He creates a comfortable space that lets you know it’s ok to do things with your voice that maybe in the past you where nervous to do or even told not to do. This little tid bit right there is why everyone needs to give it a shot, I would highly recommend Fernando!! I give him an A++ Rating.

Hello! I have had basic training in both classical styles of singing and in more popular styles of singing (ie pop, rock, etc). There are videos on my page of my singing style. I have a Masters degree in music, and while my primary instrument is the flute, I have performed vocally many times in different groups (again, all popular music/ folk music). I am committed to helping you achieve your goals, whatever they may be- you are the driver in our journey together, I will be the road map to wherever you want to go with your vocal studies. I believe in making students feel comfortable and taking things at the pace in which they are most comfortable- I understand singing for the first time in a focused way can be scary. Singing with some volume can feel terrifying- but together, little by little, we can take the journey together and find your comfort zone on the stage, in your shower, or wherever you would like to take your vocal skills. I hope to see you soon! :]

About Elisa
Hi, there! My name is Elisa Alfonso and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students learn and/or improve their flute playing and improve their general understanding of music. I also really love helping students learn to articulate their ideas on paper! I went to East Carolina University and earned my BM in Music Performance and a BA in Hispanic Studies in 2016. I strive to make lessons both a fun and productive experience for students, and will use the educational goals that the student identifies to structure custom lesson plans for that student. I strongly believe in explaining the reasoning behind activities so students understand the goals that they are working towards in our lessons, and I am passionate about helping my students succeed. I look forward to helping you reac
h your goals!
