I really enjoyed my experience taking voice lessons from Alex! I learned something new every lesson and was given the opportunity to sing some of my favorite songs along with some that were less familiar. Alex helped me with many audition pieces and made sure I was prepared and confident before going into every audition. He made every lesson fun and I would definitely recommend taking lessons from him!

My work with Katherine has been nothing but amazing. She surpasses the label as teacher by all accounts and is a true mentor.
Whether I was feeling low that day as an artist or on my game, she inspired my best work and I walked out of her studio every time feeling fulfilled and grateful.
Thanks to Kathryn, my voice and acting chops have excelled and I have gained callbacks knowing full well it was due to the work I prepared with her for the auditions!"

"Paul is an amazing musician, teacher and individual. Over the course of a few weeks he specifically evaluated my singing and worked with me in order to improve my singing. With every lesson that I had, I was able to notice real improvement in my voice. Paul also exposed me to a wide array of musical styles, in order to better get to know my voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. He is very encouraging and friendly, from the first lesson he already works to help you feel comfortable.

All in all, by having Paul as an instructor you get to learn from an amazing, accomplished musician who truly knows his field and who also has a great personality while being a great teacher, I think that sums it up pretty well."

Favorite Venues for Singing Performances in Los Angeles

By Noah W. - Los Angeles Voice Teacher

For those of us that live in Los Angeles, we are lucky to have an almost endless repository of great musical performances of all kinds happening all over town. As one of the major artistic centers of the US, our city boasts the highest caliber of performing artists in all genres. The artists may reside locally or they may be visiting from anywhere else in the world, but rest assured that any given evening there is an excellent vocal performance going on somewhere in Los Angeles. Whether you are a beginner taking singing lessons in Los Angeles or simply looking for a place to hear some good music, the following venues are a few of my favorite places to go for a variety of vocal performances.

First and foremost, one of the best places t

...

o see great vocal performances in the city is also one of the most visually striking buildings in the world: Disney Hall. Designed by Frank Gehry and home to the LA Philharmonic, there are many concerts of all types held every season at Disney Hall, and one can always be assured that the performances will be of the highest caliber. It is well worth any music fan’s time to take a look at what concerts are available to attend each season at Disney Hall.

For the greatest rock concerts in the world, look no further than The Greek Theater, majestically located in Griffith Park. The calendar at the Greek reads like a veritable who's who of great artists, both past and present. Any style of vocal performance can be expected to be seen at the Greek. Similar to the Greek is the Hollywood Bowl, an acoustically amazing outdoor amphitheater situated at the foot of the Hollywood Hills. Again, one can expect to hear the finest singing performances in the world, from rock to jazz to world to Broadway - the Hollywood Bowl is another venue that has it all.

However, L.A. doesn't only offer the biggest acts in the world; it also has a thriving community of local musicians that perform nightly in smaller venues - much smaller. One of my favorite places to go for great vocal performances is The Dresden, an old Hollywood throwback that features the legendary Marty and Elayne on a nightly basis. Marty and Elayne have been performing their unique style of lounge music for 30 years. Their covers range throughout popular music history, from old show tunes to radio hits by artists like the Bee Gees and Stevie Wonder. There are also a large number of guest vocalists that sing with them, augmenting their familiar sound with a new musical flavor nearly every time they perform.

Whatever the flavor of vocal performance that you can imagine, LA has it all. If you are taking singing lessons in Los Angeles, go ahead and see for yourself - you'll be glad you did.

How To Hum: Sound Vibration Basics For Singers

One of the funniest memories I have of my first choir experience was learning how to hum in a choir. I thought it was a little ridiculous as a 4th grader because I thought I already knew how to hum, since I was doing it all the time. However, your casual humming while you work a-la Snow White (for those of us who prefer it over whistling) is in fact, completely different from humming as an actual singer. See, my beloved chorus teacher had us open our mouths as wide as we could, and then clos …

5 Important Tips for Soprano Singers to Keep in Mind

Are you a soprano? Keep your voice in great shape with these tips from Saint Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L... Being born a soprano comes with both its perks and its challenges. On the one hand, we sopranos have a lot of the solos in choruses and choirs, and most of the highly dramatic arias and ballads. On the other hand, we tend to overwork and abuse our voice more often and get diagnosed with a lot more pathologies of the voice. Every voice type is special, and soprano singers ha …

5 Ways Learning Music Theory Can Make You a Better Singer

Do you love to sing? We'll take a wild guess and say it wasn't chord progressions and minor scales that caught your interest.
