My instruction of voice will focus on proper breathing techniques and healthy vocal production, no matter how advanced the singer is. I will help the singer navigate and expand their vocal range. Classical training is the strongest foundation, but we can explore musical theater as well. One of my greatest joys is introducing students to new repertoire and helping them find what they love to sing.
I will also teach basic music theory and sight reading skills

About Sarah

I am always excited to meet and work with dedicated, aspiring singers who are devoted to learning about their voice as an instrument! As a professional singer I have sung with opera companies and orchestras throughout the world. I continue to pursue my singing career, but I also love teaching le

Love how she teaches the mechanics of learning to sing properly such as breathing correctly and posture right from the start for a beginner. Fantastic instructor!

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

"Shelley is fantastic. She made me feel at ease right away, even though I have no prior singing experience and I was incredibly nervous. As early as my second lesson, I could already hear a difference in my voice when I listened back to the recording of our session! She really knows what she's doing and it shows. I highly recommend Shelley. In addition to being a great music teacher - which she is - she's also so pleasant to work with! She's fast to respond, very accommodating with her schedule, friendly and easygoing, and professional. I started out thinking I'd just take a few weeks' worth of lessons to get out of my comfort zone. Over a year later, I'm still here, and looking forward to every week."

"This was a great lesson. He knows his stuff and can really develop a person. I did 20 minute lessons to start, but honestly the more time you can the better. He taught me way more than I expected I could learn, but I could tell there's so much more he can do with more time. My lesson was as long as it took to drive there but it was worth it even for how short it was. I'm doing longer next time for sure.
Danny's really great to work with. He's very skilled and I'm glad he's teaching what he knows because I'm pretty sure he keeps himself busy with a lot of projects. I highly recommend lessons with Danny. It's fun and comfortable because he's a great person and funny and easy to be around even if you haven't taking any lessons on singing."

Favorite Venues for Singing Performances in Los Angeles

By Noah W. - Los Angeles Voice Teacher

For those of us that live in Los Angeles, we are lucky to have an almost endless repository of great musical performances of all kinds happening all over town. As one of the major artistic centers of the US, our city boasts the highest caliber of performing artists in all genres. The artists may reside locally or they may be visiting from anywhere else in the world, but rest assured that any given evening there is an excellent vocal performance going on somewhere in Los Angeles. Whether you are a beginner taking singing lessons in Los Angeles or simply looking for a place to hear some good music, the following venues are a few of my favorite places to go for a variety of vocal performances.

First and foremost, one of the best places to see great vocal performances in the city is also one of the most visually striking buildings in the world: Disney Hall. Designed by Frank Gehry and home to the LA Philharmonic, there are many concerts of all types held every season at Disney Hall, and one can always be assured that the performances will be of the highest caliber. It is well worth any music fan’s time to take a look at what concerts are available to attend each season at Disney Hall.

For the greatest rock concerts in the world, look no further than The Greek Theater, majestically located in Griffith Park. The calendar at the Greek reads like a veritable who's who of great artists, both past and present. Any style of vocal performance can be expected to be seen at the Greek. Similar to the Greek is the Hollywood Bowl, an acoustically amazing outdoor amphitheater situated at the foot of the Hollywood Hills. Again, one can expect to hear the finest singing performances in the world, from rock to jazz to world to Broadway - the Hollywood Bowl is another venue that has it all.

However, L.A. doesn't only offer the biggest acts in the world; it also has a thriving community of local musicians that perform nightly in smaller venues - much smaller. One of my favorite places to go for great vocal performances is The Dresden, an old Hollywood throwback that features the legendary Marty and Elayne on a nightly basis. Marty and Elayne have been performing their unique style of lounge music for 30 years. Their covers range throughout popular music history, from old show tunes to radio hits by artists like the Bee Gees and Stevie Wonder. There are also a large number of guest vocalists that sing with them, augmenting their familiar sound with a new musical flavor nearly every time they perform.

Whatever the flavor of vocal performance that you can imagine, LA has it all. If you are taking singing lessons in Los Angeles, go ahead and see for yourself - you'll be glad you did.

Your Cheat Sheet for Singing High Notes

The "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" concert aired last night, featuring performances by Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Taking voice lessons and finding out your own vocal range can be an exciting process - but if you're ready to take it the next level (literally), you'll need to k …
