My main priority is to help you discover your voice and treat it as an instrument. You will learn some basic concepts as projection, breath control, pitch, and pronunciation. Alongside singing, you will also learn some basic music theory concepts so that you can truly listen to music as far as how your voice can fit into any song. With me as your teacher, you will be taking the steps necessary to become a skilled and versatile performer in any musical setting. Once you've excelled as a solo performer, you will also learn how to sing in two and three part harmonies, as well as fitting into an acapella style ensemble, if it is applicable to you and your goals as a musician.
About Paul R.

To all potential students, I believe that my education in vocal technique and my 7+ years of performing either solo or with an ensemble can be an asset to you. I’ve had 3 years of formal vocal training from High School and College, have studied music theory as a music major in college, and am well versed in a wide variety of music, whether it be disco, musical theater, R&B, and rock. With all that I teach, there will be an emphasis on ear-training. Knowing how to listen to music is just as important as performing. I formerly worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant from 2005-2020. If not for the pandemic, I would perform regularly either as a solo artist or with my band, The Bannermen, as well as random collaborations with people who either need an extra vocalist or as guitar accompaniment. I have been a performing musician since 2013. I believe that our time together will be mutually beneficial. As restrictions are lifted and is considered safe, I am available in the Chicago and the surrounding areas to do in person lessons. Sincerely, Paul

Paul is not only the epitome of what it means to use your own creative voice, but he's an outstanding vocal performer with a beautiful range. And his understanding of what any contemporary vocalist needs is very strong.
