Roseann has a very pleasant personality and makes learning the guitar enjoyable and exciting for my six year old daughter. She gives clear and concise instructions that my daughter can understand and follow on her own while practicing at home. I would highly recommend Roesann to anyone interested in learning the guitar.

There are a number of reasons someone may wish to take music lessons. Whatever the specific reason, striving to achieve one’s “artistic truth” is the goal. My holistic view of education is to help a student find his/her own individual “voice” as a singer and a creative artist. I believe the role of an educator is not to relay information in a detached context, what I call teaching “at” a student, but to lead that student in a discussion of the music, pulling information from the student in a collaborative effort between two or more individuals. It is my goal to facilitate an emotionally safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, listen critically, and articulate his/her thoughts. We work towards freedom of expression and letting go of fear. Fear is the single greatest enemy of any artist: If you're afraid of how your music will go, you won't be making art.
A healthy mind, body, and spirit all work together to make a strong, whole individual. The development of ...

Voice was my major at University. I have sung all different styles of music from pop to opera although I focus more on the Broadway and Classical for teaching as these are the foundation for voice. If you have a good foundation, you can sing any style!
I teach all levels of voice. I use a great many different books suitable for each age and level of voice such as the 24 Italian arias and art songs, the first book of solos, folk songs for solo singers, to name a few.

I am a beginning singer, my only prior experience was singing with the congregation in church, not the choir.

I have been teaching for 8 years, directing choirs of all ages, teaching in music classrooms, and working with students one-on-one. In my studio, I use my knowledge of the voice, repertoire, and styles to meet the needs of each student. I love to sing music in the classical repertoire, but I work with students on a variety of styles, from original songs to arias. We will apply the principles of healthy singing to whatever styles of music you are interested in singing. I am passionate about helping my students reach their goals, while also helping them become stronger musicians. My love of singing has made me a life-long musician, and that is a love that I strive to foster in all of my students.
About Chelsea
I am a soprano, and I recently graduated with a master’s degree in vocal performance. I have spent years performing as a soloist and with choirs in countries around the world: France, Switzerland, South Africa, China, Singapore, and The Philippines. I’ve had the opportunity to sing with symphonies

Vanessa is an amazing teacher. She is so sweet and encouraging! Whenever I'm having trouble with an exercise she is able to pin point what I'm doing wrong and correct me, which I really appreciate. I've only had a few lessons with her but I can already hear the progress! I highly recommend taking lessons with her. She's great!!"

If You Can Talk, You Can Sing - NYC Voice Lessons
By Marjorie K. - New York City Singing Teacher
As a singing instructor based in NYC, I have always felt that there is no such thing as a bad student, only bad teachers. If you have a good teacher then you will in turn become a good student.
When a new student comes to me, I begin the lesson by telling the student right away that my motto is “If you can talk you can sing, and I guarantee it” - therefore the responsibility to get this student to sing well is mine, not theirs since they are paying me to help them find their best voice.
Once this is understood, the student can then relax, begin the process of trusting me and open up for the experience of learning to sing. I also make sure the student thinks of the lesson as a mini vacation from everything that has happened before the lesson and anything that will happen after. This allows for complete concentration during each session.
In addition to teaching private singing lessons in New York City, I give performance classes once a month. These singing classes address the elements of stage fright and performance anxiety which can’t be addressed in private voice lessons. Only in a class with other singing students will the student be able to learn skills to combat the nervousness that comes from the fear of singing in front of others.
I also present my students in local recitals twice a year to give them a performing goal to work towards. There is no better way to jump start the improvement of the voice than to have a performance you are preparing for. I teach all styles of singing and work from a classically trained throat, which is the basis of all correct singing. The only thing that changes is the style of music that one is singing.
In closing, the most important thing is that my students have fun in their lessons. After all, singing is a joyous experience and that is the reason we do it. One always has to remember that we sing because of the pleasure it brings to ourselves and others. Take New York City vocal lessons with me and experience this joy for yourself!
