Lessons with me will be a unique experience because along with learning the basic fundamentals of hand drumming, but we will learn how to listen to those around us in order to have an all encompassing experience. It will be light, fun, informative, and we will go at whatever pace feels good for you, the student! I've been around drumming and drum circles for over ten years now and have come to have a very individual, impactful style for those around me. I look forward to sharing what I know!
About Jessica

I began studying music theory in high school, and have taken several semesters of college-level music theory. To complement and support my music theory and ear training knowledge, I have studied piano at the intermediate level. Music theory will help you appreciate, interpret, and enjoy music - I can't imagine not knowing what I know about music theory, and I want you to feel the same way. Here are materials I can use in music theory lessons:
- The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis (Clendinning and Marvin)
- The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis workbook (Clendinning and Marvin)
- The Musician's Guide to Aural Skills Sight-Singing book (Murphy, Phillips, Marvin, Clendinning)
- Materials and Techniques of Post-Tonal Music (Kostka and Santa)
- Grand piano (in my College Studio and can be used online)
- Yamaha electric piano (in my Home Studio and can be used online)

In my lessons I really listen to my students especially when it comes to the type of music that they want to learn. Many times they will bring ideas to me that they have heard or seen. I do insist on reading and using the music as a tool to improve on sight reading, rhythm and other basic studies of music. I try to make it enjoyable and fun and not a stressful experience.

With so much music in the world to play, how do you figure out how to practice guitar? Guitar teacher Jack C. breaks it down to the basics... One of the most common questions I'm asked by students, whether they are total beginners, or seasoned veterans who have been playing for more than ten years, is: "How exactly should I practice guitar in order to get the most benefit from my time?" As my explanation, I always like to break down guitar knowledge in three basic categories. 1. Techni …
