Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway. In 2006, he received a Bachelor Degree of Music from Stony Brook University.
As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

Some students thrive with a highly technical approach; some thrive in a less formal, more supportive environment; most singers do best with an approach that mixes the two. I was a total novice and the progress that I’ve shown over the past several months under Elliot's guidance is almost miraculous to me. He is honest and tough but always encouraging. His approach is quite surgical, technical and focuses on finessing the finest details in how you engage your body to create the best sound possible. My bad habits were identified and I was given efficient tools to counteract them. After singing for so long with improper technique I needed a teacher who could throw me in the deep end and the results speak for themselves. Crazy value for money!

Adam is really super (I am only on my third lesson). He will make you feel comfortable and interact with you in a personable and dynamic way.

He is the perfect teacher if you want to improve your stage voice and pitch. Adam is the man if you have fame on your mind. Julia

If you are a little slow on the uptake, (like I am when I don't know the subject matter) you need to be brave and follow his directions in practicing techniques. Adam personalizes his lessons, but they could be more planned. They feel a little too unprepared.

Voice
I am an empathetic teacher, sensitive to the students individual process of learning. My singing lessons usually start with breathing and relaxation exercises. Vocal exercise come next, then when the student is fully warmed up, we will begin to work on songs. It is important that the student be part of the process of picking material since the more they personally respond to the material the more apt they are to be engaged in their lessons and the more quickly they will learn. After three to six months they will understand the fundamentals of breathing and relaxation and its importance to proper vocal training. They will have begun the process of extending their range and will understand the principles of performance in song.
Acting
As an acting teacher and coach, I tailor my classes to the needs of each student. I utilize improvisatory and sensory techniques to help unleash spontaneity. I also encourage the students to use their personal experiences as a way to access a full range of emotions. I enjoy working with the student on script analysis, so as to discover the underlying motivations of the character the student is working on.
Creative and Lyric Writing
I use prompts as a way to get the student writing. Often, I will ask the student to write for stretches of time without editing themselves. It is important to unleash imagination before beginning the process of editing. Many times it is the unexpected that is the must compelling.

I offer fun, creative, serious ways of learning how to be a complete musician, I am able to teach you how to play piano at a beginning to intermediate level, guitar, mostly beginning level, voice any level but not expert yet in all of this and so that is why I take
lessons myself in NYC to always get better. I am trained in the classical methods, but happy to experiment with others. I believe a solid technique in any level is the foundation and then, if you need more expertise, I am happy to refer you to others I know who teach in that style.

Each lesson , depending on your age, will have some kind of technical work, such as drills, work on whatever level you are at in music theory, sight reading, musicality and all components that would make you a complete musician, as I have been trained You will also have some FUN because it just would get boring and then practicing would be a pain instead of inspiring you. Games, little fun tests spelling musical words and the like,.

Kate is fantastic!! She has such a warm, easygoing personality, and I was very comfortable having her in my home. She is extremely knowledgeable about the uke and was able to immediately recognize my strengths and weaknesses. I feel challenged, but not overwhelmed. Marina is a natural teacher. She loves to share what she has learned about music and singing. She has a gift for sight reading, and memorizing, which she can do almost always at first read. Everyone in her studio has mutual respect, including her. She has been my student, but now, she is my teacher. With an open mind, she welcomes the chance to learn from others, including her students. She is highly qualified, with a BA in Music from California State University Long Beach, a Performing Arts degree from University of Southern California, a summer with Music Academy of the West, as well as the Merola and Adler programs with San Francisco Opera. An excellent performer, she gives 100% to all her roles, no matter how small, and helps other cast members and crew whenever she can. Marina was the perfect teacher for my shy sixteen year old who loves to sing but had terrible stage fright! She really brought her out of her shell and made her feel comfortable, AND she'll be singing the lead in Little Shop of Horrors at school this fall!!!!! We are sad to see her go to New York and we miss her but know she had to follow her career. We love Marina!

I take the time to get to know each student, their favorite genres of music, their experience singing, and assess their ability at the beginning of the first lesson. I incorporate breathing techniques and anatomical understanding from the start, ensuring that my students will be better prepared to sing comfortably and correctly. I keep the atmosphere light, allowing for personalities to shine, and most importantly, I give them tons of encouragement reassuring them that they are among family. One of the most important aspects of a voice class, is to make your student(s) feel comfortable, cheer each other on, and respect one another as individuals with individual gifts.
