I teach beginners to pros. I work on many aspects of singing from good basic technique covering breathing, tone quality and production, exploring the voice, expanding range, connecting registers, artist development- exploring styles/genres, finding/writing material, developing a sound, performance coaching, studio singing. Commercial voice- pop, r&b/soul, country, singer/songwriter, rock
Michael is an artist/songwriter with a broad background of experience from live performances and studio work across the US and Europe. He has sung for many labels, publishers, and on jingles. As a songwriter, he has songs recorded internationally by other artists and in film. He has a Bachelors of Music in Commercial Vocal Performance from Belmont University (Nashville, TN). As a vocal instructor, he held a Masterclass of commercial Voice for the Royal Academy of Music in London in. Michael works with singers of all levels from beginners to professionals.
*** Lesson Details *** Michael covers all modern styles of music; pop, soul, jazz, r&b, country, rock, and on and on. Michael works with all levels of singers, from beginners to professionals, who want to work on specific areas.
Michael will help you improve your...
Technique- We will help you improve breathing, phrasing, improving tone, projection and develop range.
Artistry- Some singers already have a sense of "who they are" and have found their "sound" as artists, and others need help refining it. We'll look at what songs are great for you, (maybe you write your own) how to style songs and make them your own and even experiment with different genres.
Performance skills- It's one thing to sing in a room one on one with a vocal instructor and quite another to be onstage with an audience with all eyes on you as you stand in front of the mic. How do you connect with your audience? How do you handle nerves? How do you talk between songs? Some of these things are learned best from experience. Most singers are working on their voice because they want to perform. Michael will provide opportunities for performance experience for each artist when each individual is ready.
Be an Intelligent singer- Learn how to be ready for an audition. How to communicate with a band /accompanists. How to know what keys you need your songs in. Learn about singing harmonies/backing vocals. Learn about recording vocals in the studio.
This is what one new student had to say about their first lesson with Michael...
"I had SO much fun this past Sunday, Michael. I already feel like I learned a great deal. You are such a fun and easy going teacher. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks!"
*** Travel Equipment *** I can bring a keyboard and a laptop. It would be nice if they could provide a CD player, but not necessary.
*** Specialties *** pop, soul, r&b, rock, country, any commercial styles. Performance coaching, Songwriting
Michael is the best singing teacher I've ever had. He has done a wonderful job of helping me to reach the potential that I knew I had as a singer.
His unique and innovative approach to vocal warm ups has helped me to find and define my vocal range.
He also happens to be an excellent vocal arranger, having helped me to add vocal accents to my songs that have given them new life.
Thank you for everything Michael!

Michael has been a savior for me, both in terms of expanding my vocal capacity and helping me develop my artistry and songwriting! He is encouraging, kind, fun, motivating and professional. He has truly been a caring teacher, mentor, and guide for me as I move forward in my music career, and has gone above and beyond his job as a vocal coach, taking the time and energy to invest in understanding my artistic vision, and helping me articulate and execute each step along the way. I would recommend him to anyone looking for guidance in a talented vocal coach and all around professional music mentor!Thank you Michael!

Michael is the best! Right from the start he picked up on the weak areas of my voice and we've been working on it since. He goes through the exercises such that I'm singing the way I wanted without even thinking about it. And he doesn't miss a thing. If I miss a note he's right there having me do it over again until I get it right.
He also explained in detail what the problem areas were and how to fix them. Describing with words how to use the human voice is no easy task, but he knows exactly how to get the point across.
I was originally pessimistic about online lessons, but I thought I'd try it since I couldn't find anyone with credentials and experience like Michael's in Atlanta for less than a gajillion an hour. I was pleasantly surprised. I can sing in the comfort of my own home, and it's just like he's right there with me.
I have been a professional singer for most of my adult life. I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with students as they discover ways towards self-expression through the voice.
I have been a voice, acting, and teacher of creative arts for over 25 years. My background includes ten years of classical voice training with Maestro Julio Berrocal, as well as vocal training through the Feldenkrais approach with Marcy Lindhiemer. In acting, I have studied with renowned Stanislavsky scholar Sonia Moore and Master acting teacher of the Strasberg Method, Marcia Haufrecht. I received a B.A. For comparative literature and creative writing at the State University of New York at Purchase and have recently completed my Master's degree in social work at Walden University. I believe, within all of us, Is the ability to express something distinctive and original. I work to help students discover their unique voice, whether it be through singing, acting, or writing. I share with my students an array of tools to gain the ability
and confidence to achieve their goals. I empathize deeply with the challenges students may face when pursuing a life in the creative and performing arts, having worked professionally in those areas for most of my adult life. I believe it is the teacher's job to respect each student's individual process of learning. My students have gone on to become recording artists, Broadway performers, movie actors, Blues and cabaret artists, and published writers.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice I am an empathetic teacher, sensitive to the student's individual process of learning. My singing lessons usually start with breathing and relaxation exercises. Vocal technique exercises come next. When the student is fully warmed up, we will begin to work on songs. It is important that students be a part of the process of picking material since the more personally they respond to the material the more apt they are to become engaged in their lessons. After three to six months beginning students will have gained an understanding of the fundamentals of breathing, relaxation, and basic performance skills. With more advanced students the focus will be on range extension and the on-going development of vocal style through song interpretation and performance related exercises. Acting As an acting teacher and coach, I tailor my classes to the needs of each student. I utilize improvisatory and sensory techniques to help unleash spontaneity. I also encourage the students to use their personal experiences as a way to access a full range of emotions. I enjoy working with the student on script analysis, so as to discover the underlying motivations of the character the student is working on. Creative and Lyric Writing I use prompts as a way to get the student writing. Often, I will ask the student to write for stretches of time without editing themselves. It is important to unleash imagination before beginning the process of editing. Many times it is the unexpected that is the most compelling.
*** Studio Equipment *** home- 10 minutes away from Manhattan with piano, seating for parents -practice studio seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** I provide a piano, cd/mp3 player and an large library of songbooks to work from. The student should bring sheet music of songs they want to work on and a recording device.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching how to sing rock, pop, musical theater, jazz, cabaret, and blues without hurting the voice as well as method acting instruction.
A very good first lesson. We went over breathing exercises and scales. Also had time for Amy to critique my speaking style through a portion of a speech I will be giving in a month. Time well-spent.
She briefly went over the next lesson plan and gave me a little homework to do as well.
I got a lot out of this lesson and I can see how this will help me accomplish my goal of being a better public speaker and having a more controlled and stronger voice.
Looking forward to future lessons.

Amy is absolutely incredible. She showed keen interest in my concerns and challenges. She listened and knew exactly what I needed to do to get to where I want to be. She makes it easy for me to understand and she is truly a great coach. I can’t wait to see her again.
I've been teaching voice for eight years and my students have gone on to study at CalArts, La Guardia, The New School, and more. I encourage students to bring in songs they've written themselves! I specialize in Jazz, Pop/Contemporary, Broadway and Choral styles, and have the following tools available: microphones, keyboard, Logic Pro, Spotify for karaoke backing tracks, sheet music.
It's important to have your own keyboard or piano for lessons.
I am a professional vocalist and composer, with a BFA and BMus in Jazz Performance, and over 12 years of performance and recording experience internationally, including appearances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center with NY's premiere a cappella ensemble Khorikos, and the Knitting Factory with Brooklyn-based indie band RVBY MY DEAR; as well as commercial voiceover work for major brands. I specialize in teaching Jazz, Pop/Contemporary, Broadway and Choral singing, songwriting, theory, ear training and arranging, as well as Beginner – Intermediate Piano. All ages and levels are welcome - including college and high school students preparing for auditions! Whether you’re looking to take your music to the next level professionally, or want to learn just for fun, lessons are tailored to your ability and musical interests. I don't believe in a
one-size-fits-all approach to music, and I encourage and guide my students to find what it is about their voice that makes them unique.
I have been taking lessons with Gabbi for about two months now. In such a short amount of time, I have seen major improvements in my abilities. She provides helpful apps and song recommendations that really expand your vocal range. I record each lesson, as suggested by her, which has made me more comfortable with my voice. Her patience and kindness have allowed me to break out of my shell. She's incredibly knowledgeable and always explains concepts in a way that is easy to understand and replicate. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a vocal instructor!!! Ps- Her accent is adorable!

Gabbi is wonderful! In our first lesson she did a great job assessing where I was and we hit the ground running playing through a number of exercises and songs which challenged me. I feel confident my playing will progress with her!
I am studying to become a professional classical singer. Through my own training, I have discovered that having an amazing teacher – one who is supportive, caring, and hard working, and who will push you and work with you to be better – is the most important tool an aspiring musician can have. I believe that every student is different, as no person's body is the same, and no vocal instrument is the same. Based on my performance in the Teaching of Singing course at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, I was selected to be a voice teacher to non-Conservatory students at Oberlin College. I have now had several students, two of whom, with my assistance, have just been accepted to prestigious summer programs in classical voice. Though I have only been teaching voice to others for a year now, I have been teaching myself alongside my own teachers through practice and independent work for the past nine years, and I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing.

I am a native New Yorker, and I am a proud alum of LaGuardia High School, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Manhattan School of Music's Pre-College program, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. I am also proud to have received the Graduation award for top vocalist in my year at LaGuardia. All of these programs helped to shape who I am, both as a performer and as a teacher, and I am excited to pass on what I learned.
As a singer myself, I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing, as well as the discovery that what works for some people does not necessarily work for others, and that's ok! The voice is individual because it is inherently unique to the person it belongs to. It is the exciting, demanding, and amazing work of a teacher to bring out each individual's voice, and I love discovering a person's voice with them. I can't wait to work with you and find your voice!
Rachel is a great vocal instructor and gave me the confidence to learn and discover my own voice. As a beginner with no experience in vocal training, I was able to learn the basics of posture, setup and breath and of course singing. I enjoyed lessons with Rachel and would highly recommend working with her.
September 15, 2018
Rachel is absolutely awesome. Makes me feel so comfortable which helps me to be 100% myself including my funny mistakes. I feel that I am learning and understanding music and singing a lot.
July 8, 2018
Rachel was extremely patient and could figure out how to help a new singer like me navigate their body and find a true sound. Her positive feedback encouraged me to do better along with her comforting wit and humorous exercises that really made me open up. I believe she was the absolute best person to help me along and open up more than I had ever before and I think if she continues educating that she will do amazing things, and have fun all the while!
I have been singing for over a decade now and have found that the most important thing in voice lessons, besides enjoying them, is building a foundation for a healthy, long lasting voice. My goal is to help my students eliminate tension and free up their voices so that their technique carries them through difficult songs without any pain or stress.
I am a multi-instrumentalist from Upstate New York. I started playing guitar and saxophone 10 years ago and simply couldn’t stop! Over the years, I picked up ukulele, clarinet, mandolin, flute, among others, studied voice at Ithaca College as part of their BFA MT program, and have become a singer/songwriter and recording artist. As a teacher, I am all about loving and performing the music. Learning instruments can be hard and technique is very important, but if we don’t cultivate a passion for music, why are we playing it at all? The most engaging and successful artists are those who put themselves into their music and fully perform it, not just play it. My goal is to keep his classes stress free and focused on enjoying the passion of performance while pushing towards more challenging and exciting material.
Jacob is an excellent instructor! He was patient and encouraging with my daughter while laying a wonderful foundation in what I hope will be a life-long relationship with music. They also have a lot of fun every time which definitely makes learning anything new easier. Have recommended to friends and family!
I will help you discover your best voice in a fun and healthy way! You do not need to have a musical background, all levels of experience are welcome! You will learn vocal technique that protects and strengthens your voice so that you can approach new songs with confidence and freedom! Students will also learn basic music theory and gain a better understanding of reading music.

I am a very funny and easy going person, but at the same time I am a very professional singer. I know very well that in order to achieve great results, you really need to commit yourself and work a lot, especially in your own time. My determination to make more people fall in love with Opera has driven my career both as a performer, and importantly as a teacher & coach. Specifically, I received a degree in music teaching?? at (what school??), and have worked with various clients, both professional and amateur. Through this experience, I have developed an ability to work with singers to identify key skills and specific problem areas, and work through them strategically to maximally improve their singing ability.

Jo Ann is a wonderful teacher. She is very knowledgeable, patient, responsive to the needs of the students, and provides excellent explana
tions. I started taking lessons with her as a complete beginner and, with her help, learn to understand the features of my voice and the mechanics of voice production. Also, it is very fun to work with her!"
"The 30 minutes I spend with Stacey are the bright spot in my week. In just 3 short lessons, this 72 year old has learned so much! Stacey's enthusiasm
and support for the student come together to create an environment in which the student can explore their limits. Her understanding of proper singing technique and phrasing and her ability to evoke same in her students is exemplary - in other words, I love my voice teacher, Stacey!"
"One of the best instructors of anything I've ever done. Professional, fun, supportive, and knowledgeable. She is always prepared, helpful, and focuses les
sons based on your needs. You will see dramatic improvement in a short amount of time."
"She’s a terrific teacher! She’s scholarly and intellectual herself, years of research and study on her own, knows the fundamental mechanics, physiological
and mental, to learning to sing properly and conveys it in a very clear fashion. She builds a singer; she doesn’t just do superficial pitch coaching."
"Brenda did a great job helping me to progress in my singing. I really appreciate her service!!!"
"My dad has been taking lessons with Rosita for about a year and his voice sounds outstanding! My kids adore her and are really wanting to take singing les
sons with her! but as we are moving back to Korea we won't be able to go to her studio. But we will try the online class Rosita! Thank you for offering that option to us!"
"Today we had our first lesson and I am really happy so far..Jonathan seems a really smart teacher who can capture really fast the needs of the student and
can guide you with confidence. He is very supportive, patient...and...oh my God, his voice is amazing Looking forward to our following lessons!"
"I've loved working with Sasha! Not only is she extremely knowledgable, but she's super flexible, catering her lessons to my specific voice goals. I have t
o strongly cosign what other reviewers have said about her ability to put you at ease - I came into our first lesson with a lifelong fear of singing in front of others, but I walked out her door that first day with so much confidence. What can I say - she creates a really chill, safe place to make a fool out of myself. Sasha's truly awesome and makes singing so accessible, and the difference I noticed in my singing after 1 lesson was remarkable. Plus she has the sweetest toddler on earth who much to my delight will join some of our lessons. I feel Sasha has given me some amazing training I can use for the rest of my life."
"Really enjoyed my first lesson, singing is way out of my comfort zone and Bethany made it seem achievable"
As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice...
Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a so …
