I have been teaching private lessons now for over two years. I specialize in teaching children and teens and am a student favorite at Take Lessons with a collection of wonderful reviews from students and their parents. I am a very thorough and patient teacher. However, I expect a MINIMUM of three days a week of practice from all of my students at a length of time equal to lesson length. Without adequate practice, the student cannot flourish in fine-tuning their skills and could ultimately end up disappointed. This is completely avoidable with diligent practice.
For my younger students (ages 6-11) I utilize the Little Singers series of text written by Gregory Blankenbehler. For ages 12 and up, I utilize The Contemporary Singer: Elements of Vocal Technique written by Anne Peckham, one of my most influential Berklee professors. I cater my lessons to anything my students want to focus on, as well as providing them a strong foundation of music theory. I am a classically trained singer and was a part of choruses from elementary school through high school. In high school I was selected for the Central District chorus four years in a row and for the All State Chorus one year. In addition to classical, I sing pop music and musical theater very frequently, as well as jazz and other genres of music. I also am trained in belting and mixed belt singing and healthy singing is important to me as a teacher.
