Piano lessons definitely involve theory, but are structured around the genre of music set by the student's goals. Music theory is taught around a repertoire that the student builds throughout the piano program so that they build a portfolio from which they can pay. Then performance ad versatility become the second focus.

About Loretta

I have always been fascinated with how music is created and who works behind the scenes of performances and recordings. I started playing the flute in elementary school, piano in junior high school, and singing in high school. Once I got to UMASS, Dartmouth I chose the Music option for my major. I

Loretta is the perfect singing teacher. I am brand new at this and I was terrified to sing in front of another person. She made me feel super comfortable and it’s all good! I am loving our time together and She makes me feel like she is, too.

Hi, I'm Laura and I believe everyone has a unique and authentic voice that deserves to be uncovered. Whether you have stage aspirations or are simply interested in learning more about singing, voice lessons can be a great way to build confidence and grow in your sense of self. We'll work together to develop a language and tool box that will enable you to reach your fullest potential as a singer.

About Laura

Hi, I’m Laura, and I want to tell you right now, you CAN sing and you SHOULD sing. From birth until death, the voice is our primary vehicle for expression. When you take a voice lesson, you are learning more than just good vocal technique (though that’s important). You’re learning about yourself an

Thank you soo much! The best lesson I've taken so far
Michael
I had no prior vocal or musical training of any kind--I can't read music--when I began voice lessons with Laura. All I had was a passion since childhood that I finally got the nerve up to pursue. The lessons were a wonderful experience from the very beginning. Voice may be the most challenging instrument to learn, because the teacher can't "play the instrument" to demonstrate technique. Laura has a remarkable talent for communicating vocal techniques and concepts with inventive and vivid visualizations that helped me understand the relationship between my body, my voice, and the sound I produce. I loved the music of Gabriel Faure, but never imagined I could sing it. Laura had all the confidence that I could, and we jumped right in. Faure's beautiful art songs, as well as others by Reynaldo Hahn and Ernest Chasson that Laura introduced me to, are now a part of me. I learned so much in the two years we worked together before Laura returned to her hometown of Denver, and miss her terribly!
Kaylen
I've learned so many valuable vocal lessons with Ms. Laura! She is super talented, smart, and such a great teacher. Ms. Laura takes time to explain musical concepts and techniques. Five stars!

Number one is we always have fun, though we do a lot of hard work too! Lessons are split between technical/theoretical music study, and live performance practice. Emphasis is on gaining skills in coordination and dexterity, understanding the theory behind compositions, and finding individual expression with each piece. Technique exercises follow the Dozen A Day series; Lessons, Sight-Reading, and Theory from Faber & Faber; skills are applied to a performance song of the students' choosing. Students generally select a song at their level in either Classical, Jazz or Contemporary style. All students are required to practice at least 5 mins a day, every day. Each performance piece is later performed live in concert.

tons of fun super excited to do more lessons!
Pearson
Firstly, Jameson is not a voice teacher for money. I do not know anyone who genuinely loves music and singing more than him. Jameson's passion for performing is evident from the moment you meet him. His rates are very reasonable considering the top-notch quality of the lessons. He focuses on the fundamentals of releasing your authentic voice rather than specialized techniques to mimic other performers. He listens carefully to your thoughts and feelings throughout each lesson, adjusting accordingly. He challenges you to express how your body is working with your vocals after each try so that you are able to be aware of your voice outside of lessons as well. He ensures that the lesson is fun and fast-paced so that you can feel great strides in vocal improvement with each time.
Thanks to Jameson, my voice has been freed. I sing strongly, with control, and with passion any chance I get. The confidence Jameson has giving me in my singing voice is quite honestly, priceless.

As a music teacher I have a great love and passion for music theory. I feel like it is such an important part of learning any musical instrument that so many students seem to struggle with. I like to take a fun but structured approach to learning music theory. I work with each individual student to help them develop personal goals to work towards whether that is working through a theory book, preparing for a theory exam, polishing their ear training or even just strengthening what they already know. I hope to help you take your music theory knowledge to the next level!

I've only had one lesson, but Jill was great! I am so excited to continue learning with her. I told her what I was hoping to get out of lessons and she was amazing at making sure we did. Would definitely recommend her!

My daughter just began learning harp after asking about lessons for quite a while. Jill has been wonderful in her communication, thorough and encouraging in her delivery method, and as a result after just three lessons I am already hearing the courage from my daughter to learn a piece for a recital in three weeks. That’s really amazing! I truly appreciate Jill’s teaching and flexibility around her lessons.

The Benefits of Music Lessons for Kids

There are plenty of reasons why music lessons are a great idea for kids of all ages. Learning the basics of how to sing or how to play an instrument early on can set your child up for a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

Music lessons for children are a fun way to build confidence and boost social skills. Research also suggests that the benefits of music education can extend to other subjects, such as language and math. The best part is that these brain-boosting benefits can come automatically, all while your child takes on an exciting new instrument!

Online Music Lessons for Kids

If your child is interested in music lessons, there’s no need to drive across town for them to study with a professional teacher. With TakeLessons Live, your kid can receive a world-class music lesson from the comfort of your own home. This is a perfect solution for busy parents and busy kids alike!

Today’s kids are more well connected than ever and learning a subject via a webcast comes naturally to them. Even if they don’t have tech skills yet, it’s easy for them to follow instructions and give feedback through the computer. Unlike pre-recorded online videos, these real-time lessons provide personalized guidance from the teacher and allow your kids to get their questions answered on the spot.

Language skills and music skills are closely interconnected, and it’s never too early to introduce your child to singing and listening to music. Around the age of four or five, they may be ready to start taking private music lessons or group music classes. You can start with a shorter lesson duration, and gradually extend the playing time based on their level of motivation.

TakeLessons makes it easy to find teachers who specialize in providing music lessons for kids. Simply pick your child’s favorite instrument above and browse our listings of professional music teachers. You can then read a particular teacher’s profile, check out the reviews, and send them an introductory message. This allows you to have complete confidence in the teacher that you pick.

The Power of Music Lessons for Children

While there are plenty of great resources online for learning how to sing or play an instrument, nothing beats the one-on-one guidance of a private music lesson. When your child is starting out on a new instrument, it’s important for them to stay motivated, and the right teacher can provide encouragement and step-by-step guidance along their musical journey.

Whether you want your child to become the next Mozart or you’d just like to give them a boost in the classroom, online music lessons for kids are a convenient way to integrate the power of music into your daily lives. With each lesson, your child will be cultivating important study abilities and developing critical listening skills.

Chances are, your kid already loves to spend time watching videos on YouTube, so why not make that screen time more constructive? Once they get in the habit of connecting with their music teacher online, they’ll have a positive role model they can reach out to for all of their music-related questions. Music lessons for your child today will lay down the foundation for a future full of musical fun!
