About Maya S.

Hi! My name is Maya and I was born n Japan. I graduated from the Juilliard School in 2001 and have been a violinist of New Jersey Symphony since 2007.

Did you just pick up the violin or piano for the first time? Have you been working on some pieces but need further help? Are you taking an audition for your school orchestra?

Or are you interested in learning Japanese language but not sure how to start? Do you want to learn Hiragana and Kanji so that you can enjoy Japanese Manga? にほんごをべんきょうしたいですか?

I believe having a solid foundation will give students a big advantage at every stage of their development.

I make sure to go through every detail to help you achieve your musical goals. Step by step; beautiful sound, good rhythm, comfortable posture, precise intonation... it’s a long journey, but I patiently guide each student toward the discovery of your strength.

I look forward to sharing my joy of teaching with you soon!

Maya has been my violin and piano teacher for about 7 years. She’s very patient and fun to work with, but sometimes strict for what I work on. We have to prepare for the annual students recital she has in the spring, but i feel I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s my favorite teacher!
