Hi! My name is Maya and I was born in Japan. I graduated from the Juilliard School in 2001 and have been a violinist of New Jersey Symphony since 2007, and joined the Opera Philadelphia Orchestra in 2022. Did you just pick up the violin for the first time? Have you been working on some pieces but need further help? Are you taking an audition for your school orchestra? Or are you interested in learning Japanese language but not sure how to start? Do you want to learn Hiragana and Kanji so that you can enjoy Japanese Manga? にほんごをべんきょうしたいですか? I believe having a solid foundation will give students a big advantage at every stage of their development. I make sure to go through every detail to help you achieve your musical goals. Step by step; beautiful sound, good rhythm, comfortable posture, precise intonation... it’s a long journey, but I patiently guide each student toward the discovery of your strength. I look forward to sharing my joy of teaching with you soon! 日本語でのバイオリンのレッスン可能です。お問い合わせ下さい。

Maya is such a talented violinist and great at instructing! She is patient and encouraging at any level of proficiency, and always aware of even the subtlest adjustments in posture, bowing, etc that need to be made to improve playing. I’ve been having great sessions with her! Also, the flexibility of my sessions in-person and/or on Zoom/Skype has been perfect for my full-time work schedule.

Maya is a wonderful teacher and violinist! I really enjoyed her class, and I learned a lot! She is not only focused on technique but also values the piece's expression. I have made great progress with her within a few months. I highly recommend her as a violin teacher! :)
