Jon A.

Cincinnati, OH

About Jon

I have been playing guitar since the age of 9. I have studied Classical, and Jazz at CCM's Prep Dept. in middle school and throughout high school as well as rock, folk, country etc. with other local teachers. I started teaching lessons at the age of 18 in local music stores and have never stopped. While doing this I attended The College of Mount St. Joseph where I studied Classical and Jazz guitar as well as Music Ed. In addition to my 22 years of private lesson experience, I have 2 years of classroom experience teaching general music in elementary schools. I believe it is my years as a s
tudent and instructor that enable me to be an effective teacher, having had learned what worked for me as a student, and what has shown to work as a teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
I cater my lesson to the individual. I like for students to have a structured practice routine and working knowledge of music and their instrument, but it has to be fun. I have students who learn Classical, rock, and Jazz. Each lesson is different. Some people just want to be able to play their favorite songs by a camp fire, and others want to go on to perform at Carnegie Hall. I enjoy teaching both lessons and put forth the same enthusiasm for each one. You get out of the guitar or bass what you put into it in terms of learning and practicing. The level of achievement is up to you, I will help guide you to meet your goals regardless of how large or small they are.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Spare music room: guitars, amps, bass; computer with recording software, ProTools seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have all the equipment necessary. I would like the student to have an instrument, but if not I can provide one for the lesson.

*** Specialties ***
I'm really pretty versatile. Over 18 years of teaching anywhere from 80 to 100 students a week will do that.

Todd T.

Cincinnati, OH

About Todd

About Guitar Lessons With Todd

"Todd is a very gifted and motivated guitarist with an uncommon aptitude for teaching."
Rodney Stucky

"Todd is passionate about teaching, and dedicates himself to this with utmost energy and purpose. He is always extremely successful in producing a high level of achievement with every student." Jeffrey Van

One of the most important duties of a competent instructor is teaching students how to practice. This is just as true for the rank beginner as it is for the advanced student, or even professional. Everyone can learn to play music and play it well if
given competent instruction. Learning to play well is learning about the mind and body, and how to use it to one's potential. As the awareness of the self is refined, not only is the playing improved, but the potential for greatness is elevated. Learning to perform music with security and confidence is fun!

Chelsea is an excellent instructor who is patient, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. I'm extremely picky about teachers, but she is by far the best I've ever had and has improved by technique and understanding of music so much. I would recommend Chelsea to anyone, family, friends or strangers.
