Within a few months, Karen has helped me become a much better singer than I ever thought I could be. She always seems to have a technique or exercise at hand to help me where I need it. Her instruction has also been very useful to improve and protect my speaking voice, given that I speak for a living. It has been worth every penny.

I'm from Hong Kong and had come to Mr Brian Lam's masterclass and private lesson in 2018&2019 when he came to HK. To me, Brian Lam is not only a piano teacher, but also a master, mentor and music friend. He knows a lot of music and his passion and teaching brings me to enjoy music more and inspire me a lot! He is very nice, professional and patient and always encourage me to develop my potential and improve my piano skills in both musically and technically. I also admire his piano skills a lot, he can play great and difficult pieces in a very beautiful way. I am always looking forward to seeing him and having lessons with him soon!

The reason I came to Mr. Brian: I wasn't making any progress under my previous teacher at a local music school. I'd say I absolutely have made the right decision to study with him! At first, my parents thought Mr. Brian's piano lessons are a bit expensive, but they let me try out the first few lessons. Worth the price! I have stayed with him for almost 4 years. He is so passionate with piano and he always tries to push me to my fullest potential, even when certain pieces seem impossible for me to tackle. We are working on a 45 min college audition program; I have never imagined I could make it this far (I hated piano when I was a kid).

Mr. Brian has prepped me well for performances. I have learned a lot from him. He is very passionate about music and he really taught me how to express myself through piano playing. I am a very shy person and have stage fright. My parents think I have advanced a lot under Brian's tutelage. I highly recommend him. A great friend, mentor and an amazing pianist!

"I don't have much to compare to since this is the first teacher I have ever had on this subject matter. What I can tell you is Robert for exceeded any expectations I had for a music teacher. He is effective and can tackle individual challenges from unique perspectives that will help you overcome you hindrances all while being very personable. I received Sheet music, training CD's and training documentation. Additionally I received recordings of each lesson which I you will not believe how helpful that is, it's like have the lesson all over again.

Robert takes the approach of an professional educator with high expectations of his students, if you truly want to improve in the realm of music, singing or otherwise, you will improve with him. He wont have it any other way!"

Learn the ins and outs in this guest post by Manassas, VA teacher Carol K...   When I first decided to tackle the word “cadence,” I thought to myself – “What exactly do I think of when I hear that word?” For me, the word implies an ending, or rhythmic inflection of sound, like the modulation of the voice in reading or speaking. This article will examine, in greater detail, what a cadence means to musicians, the types of caden …
