With all my students, I emphasize good technique. No matter what genre of music or age of student, singing in a healthful and fun way includes great posture, good breath management, and producing a free and easy sound.I believe that each student has their own unique way of learning, so I tailor my lessons to fit. Immediate feedback and specific practice instructions help my students gain a sense of confidence and assess their progress. Last but not least, singing should be fun!

About Michelle
Instilling and nurturing a love of music and developing musicianship are why I’m a voice teacher. I earned my Master of Music Education degree in 2012 from Boston University, which has furthered my love of teaching and given me even more resources to draw from.

With all my students, I emphasize good technique. No matter what genre of music or age of student, singing in a healthful and fun way includes great posture, breath management, and producing a free and easy sound. I believe that each student has their own unique way of learning, so I tailor my lessons to fit. Students are both encouraged to sing music they're familiar with and to try something new. I worked with Michelle for a little over 2 years. As an adult student, I was super nervous about singing in front of anyone - it took me this long to just sign up for lessons! She was patient with me and gave me lots of tools for dealing with my nerves and stage fright. Michelle helped me to choose songs that I not only wanted to sing but that matched my voice and range. I was hesitant about performing in a recital but Michelle pointed out that it was like training for a marathon - doing all the work but not performing just seemed silly. It wasn't perfect but it was definitely something I'm proud to have crossed off my bucket list.

My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Gina since the beginning of 2013. In her opinion, Gina is a great teacher! She makes each lesson vocally entertaining as well educational. Whether it's tackling a newer pop song with a range lower than your own or a song from an operetta that requires not only a large upper register but also the classical singing characteristics , Gina has the talent and technique to help you achieve your goals!

I focus on proper technique and breath, as I am a very firm believer that with a solid technique, students can safely and successfully explore whatever genres and repertoire they want. I like to spend about half the lesson working on technique and warm ups and half of the lesson working on music, but of course that varies on what the student wants to work on and what I feel is appropriate.

About Delaney
I am a conservatory trained classical singer who has been performing professionally for eight years and teaching privately for five. I'm very comfortable teaching a wide variety of genres and tailor my teaching style entirely to a student's level of experience, goals, voice type, age and musical interests. In addition to teaching vocal technique and repertoire, I am very comfortable teaching essential musical skills such as sight singing and music theory.
As a performer, I have appeared with such companies as Washington National Opera, Baltimore Concert Opera, Lyric Opera Baltimore, The Art Song Preservation Society and Peabody Opera Theater.

As a teacher, I fully believe that you don't have to want to be a professional singer in order to want voice lessons. I love teaching students who simply love music and want to be better at it. E
ven though I'm a professional singer myself, I believe that the point should always be to enjoy singing, and whether your goal is to make money as a singer or to feel more confident doing karaoke (both real things that have brought students to me!), I want you to have fun doing it. I also want to show you that singing is a skill, and anyone can learn to do it.

*Note about my apartment: I teach lessons in my home, and I have a pet kitten. She's extremely friendly and would love nothing more than to bask in your attention, but if you'd prefer not to be around her or you are allergic, it's no problem at all. I'm happy to make sure she's kept in a different room during your lesson. All you have to do is let me know before your lesson that you'd prefer not to be around her, and you won't see her at all.

My students have achieved admission into Berklee College of Music in Boston, lead roles in their school plays such as Peter Pan and Into the Woods, and new levels of confidence and vocal technique that have made them the stars of their local talent shows and concerts!
I am a vocal coach with over 10 years of experience singing on stage in bands, in professional musical theater, and in voice competitions. I've been trained in Jazz, Classical, Musical Theater (legit and contemporary styles), Rock, Pop, and Folk Music (Americana and Celtic).
I am absolutely sure that any singer of any age or ability can come to me with their audition, performance, and vocal technique goals, and together we will achieve those goals and more!
I love bringing the joy and beauty of singing to others and I can guarantee you'll leave our lessons with results beyond what you had thought possible.

About Orla
Hi there!

My name is Orla and I love singing and teaching others to sing! I began my vocal training at the age of 12 learning how to sing classical and musical theater music. I eventually went on to learn jazz and rock vocal techniques before going to Berklee College of Music in Boston where I learned how to sing celtic music and alternative contemporary styles.

The most important thing to me when working with singers of any age or ability is helping them learn the correct techniques to keep their voices safe and healthy while singing. With this strong foundation, my students will be able to achieve almost any style or level of singing they desire. It is totally possible to stretch your vocal range, learn a new style, or incorporate movement into your songs if you simply use the correct and healthy vocal techniques!
I also make s
ure to focus a lot on confidence and stage presence to help students prepare for upcoming auditions, showcases, concerts, and talent shows. With my voice lessons it is absolutely possible to transition out of your stage fright and own that stage like you were born to be there, because you were!! These are not only vocal coaching sessions, but complete performance-ready-workshops.
I am here to make all your singing and vocal performance dreams come true! I can't wait to sing with you :)

I booked a package (10 lessons) with Orla to help me gain confidence in my choral singing abilities. I was nervous at first, but she was patient and made me comfortable very quickly. She is very knowledgeable about anatomy and the "how" of singing, but even more importantly, she can communicate the visual, physical and emotional cues that are so critical to learning to sing properly. We focused on exercises to improve the areas I needed the most work on, and I could see the improvement in my singing in just a few lessons! As the lessons flew by, she "leveled me up" in areas that I was doing well in, and kept on working with me on the techniques that are a bit more difficult for me. I could tell that she was really engaging with me as an individual, and making me the best singer I could be.

Overall an extremely positive experience - I would recommend Orla to anyone in the area looking for a vocal teacher.

Within a couple lessons, I was already improving the way I was singing. She is also very flexible to adjusting to your schedule and singing needs.

The first time that we meet, I'll sit down with a new student and ask them about their singing experience and goals so that we can tailor the lessons to their individual needs and so that I can adjust my expectations accordingly. I am very flexible with my approach! During subsequent lessons, I will introduce the student to some basic concepts in vocal anatomy, the bel canto style ("beautiful singing" in Italian), and the Marchesi method.

About Roxanne
Roxanne is a singer-songwriter based in Falls Church, Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Music degrees in both Vocal Performance and Music Education from Longwood University in 2017. She has experience singing and performing many styles of music, including musical theatre, classical "opera", jazz, folk, and pop. She also considers herself a singer-songwriter and often performs at local venues in Washington, D.C. as well as at weddings. In addition to voice, Roxanne also plays guitar, piano, ukulele and bass.

Roxanne has been giving private voice lessons for two years to various locals during her days at university. It is her philosophy that anybody can learn how to sing. With the proper instruction, everyone can learn the techniques required for a more beautiful singing voice! Some of these techniques include proper breathing techni
que, vowel formation, and many many others.

I earned my B.A. in music from Hood College and have studied with Elaine Bonazzi in New York and Ruth Drucker in Baltimore. I sang opera professionally in my twenties and have been teaching private voice lessons for fifteen years. Many of my students have gone on to music conservatories or universities for vocal performance (classical and musical theater), but if you are just looking to have fun singing that is great, too!

*note: for voice lessons I only teach female students

About Marie
I earned my B.A. in music from Hood College and have been teaching private voice/piano lessons and general music in schools for the past fifteen years. I sang opera professionally in my twenties and early thirties, and have taught both the young beginner who just likes to sing for fun and the serious musician preparing for a career in music. I also teach beginning piano and particularly enjoy working with children (I am a preschool teacher by day). If your child is interested in learning to play the piano, this is a great first step; thanks to my background in working with young children, I understand how to pace a lesson to keep a young child interested in sitting still on a piano bench for thirty minutes straight ;)

If you are interested in piano lessons, please have either a real piano or weighted keyboard at home for practice. Yo
u will also need to purchase a few music books (about $5 each). Voice students will need to purchase song books ($15-20) after we meet and I get a feel for the student’s range and what type of repertoire we should work on.

Note: for VOICE LESSONS ONLY I only teach female students.
