We concentrate on developing proper technique including posture and fingering, scales and strengthening exercises, beginning to intermediate theory, musicality and knowledge of repertoire in various genres

About Timothy
I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. With over 15 years of experience, in both piano and voice, I've had to opportunity to perform, both domestically and internationally, with such great acts as Peter Nero and The Philly Pops, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and many others. I served as lead singer, pianist, and co-songwriter for a number of independent bands covering numerous genres including, but not limited to, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Acoustic, and A Capella.

Since moving to Washington DC, I've immersed myself within the local music community playing a handful of group and solo acts. I currently maintain a home music studio well equipped with musical instruments and music technology. I'm constantly practicing, writing, and recording to improve myself as an artist.

My teaching style
is unique and individualized to each student. I set personalized goals to make every lesson a success, and I push my students to get the most out of themselves just like I do myself. I'm always enthusiastic and humor driven to create a personable learning environment for students of any age. Music is my life, and I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to share my greatest passion with the hope that my students, too, will fall in love with music!

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson environment is laid back and stress-free. I like my students to feel inspired and encouraged as they begin or continue their music education. I introduce fun and innovative ways to build students' musicianship and creativity while retaining classical methods to develop strong technique and proper performance and practice habits.

For beginners, we'll be exploring the basics of either piano, or voice, while focusing on proper technique, basic theory, and a solid skill set. Within 3-6 months, my students are able to read music and understand the language of it.

For intermediate-advanced, we'll focus on building musicianship and skill sets by furthering studies in music theory, varying styles of repertoire, proper techniques that will greatly improve your piano and/or voice abilities, songwriting, improvisation, and live performance skills.

I ask that my students come prepared to every lesson with the motivation and commitment to learn something new each week! Lessons are a fun and creative way to discover yourself as an artist and a person, so let's get started!!

I have taught and coached beginners.
By signing up with me, you'll learn a great deal of interpretation skills. And have fun learning too!

About Jackson
Welcome! It pleases me to welcome you as a valued student. My job as your instructor/coach is to ensure that my students get the best knowledge and skills. I teach the following lessons:* Voice lessons * English * Spanish * Public Speaking * Piano for beginners and revisiting...

I advocate a dynamic variety of approaches to your learning styles and trends. My interest is in the study of voice production; functionality, style/approach, health, and stage presence and as a result, my students are empowered with useful tools to reach their goals, confront and overcome common oppositions.

I am a PROCESS teacher. Everything in life is a process. Therefore, as a PROCESS teacher, I believe in beginning every first lesson with all of the information (I plan to teach) as a preview. Immediately (upon the next lesson) follo
wed by my teaching methods:

My teaching methods fall into these four categories: (D.A.D.E.)
• Discovery- Gathering relevant and resourceful information of voice functionality.
• Application- Putting technical skills to use and knowledge of when to use them.
• Development- Process learning- Changes cause/effects and as a result, progress, production, and promise. “Trust the process.”
• Execute- To bring forth, carry out, and perform!

Process teaching and learning is a specific teaching style that not only empowers the students to feel confident about their craft, it also gives the students useful skills that can be applied to REAL "time-life" scenarios. This reinforcement confirms that the students have indeed learned what they've hired me for and more.

By signing up for voice lessons with Jackson, you will become a V.I.P. member. What is a VIP member? V.I.P. members have the inside opportunities to learn “singer secrets!” (Vowels, Interpretations and Pept-talk).
• Vowels- Two different approaches: Spoken and Sung
• Interpretation- A stylistic approach that best explains or makes sense of. Your explanation for your creativeness.
• P.E.P.T.-Talk (Details in your lesson)

Note:
1. The most important thing for singers/musicians/language students is that they train their ears. Why? Because 90% of what you'll learn is by what you recall from hearing/listening.
2. ENVIRONMENT- is key to your learning. It's important for you to surround yourself around the very things that you're learning.

Once you sign up, you’ll receive a questionnaire. The information you provide is vital because it shapes and designs your learning curriculum.

Bio: From Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Born October 15th, 1974) is an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Notable instruments are the piano and percussion. He is also known for his work within the concert/recital repertoires around the Washington, DC Metropolitan areas and performances with the Symphonic Orchestra of Northern Virginia, Jeff Dokken, conductor.

Jackson credits himself as a Pop Inspirational singer. “Music to touch, move, and inspire.”- Jackson C.

Often, he is called upon to sing for; weddings, funerals, private parties, churches, recitals etc. Words and phrases that best describe Jackson's vocal performances are: (G.R.I.P.) Graceful, Refreshing, Inspiring, and Powerful.

*** Specialties ***
Pop, Inspirational, Gospel, Rhythm & Blues (R&B), Classical, Contemporary Jazz, some musical theater.

"Trust the process! Everything in life began and ends with a process."- B. Jackson Caesar

Languages: (English & Spanish)
My interest in the Hispanic language, its apparatus, style/approach, and culture as it pertains to the ever growing population and bilingualism around the Americas. My desire is to engage the students in the discovery and appreciation of the lingual- romantic tongues.

Spanish:
Countries visited; Mexico and Peru.
I can guarantee that within a few months you'll feel confident and sure that you're conversation- ready to Speak Spanish. Therefore, if you're preparing a trip to a Spanish speaking country, you’ll find Peruvian Castellano pronunciation straightforward and as good as any other, with few of the dropped letters or peculiarities found in some other countries.

English (As a second language)
I enjoy helping others learn the complexities of the English language. English is indeed a hard tongue to grasp however; it’s not difficult once you understand its secrets. (Phonetic learning)

Acting Coach: I advocate a dynamic variety of approaches to your learning styles and trends. My interest is in the study of voice production; functionality, style/approach, health, and stage presence and thus, my students are empowered with useful tools to reach their goals, confront and overcome common oppositions.

Public Speaking: Like that of the other subjects, my primary focus is to give you fundamental skills of interpretation. There are seven interpretation techniques that are used to empower and influence not only the speaker, but even your audience. The seven interpretative techniques can be applied to these six types of speeches: Narrative, Descriptive, Expository, Persuasive, Informative, and Social groups. You will also learn stage presence, and effective leadership skills. By the end of this course, you’ll not only have the confidence, you’ll have the command and compassion to lead.

I loved Jackson so much. He helped me understand completely new concepts and helped me learn things that will help me in my singing career. He takes a completely original approach to teaching and singing theory, and it really improves how you perform. I would definitely recommend him to someone who is comfortable with their singing voice, but wants to take it to the next level. But I'm sure he is great with everyone!

My students enjoy learning to read sheet music, play piano by ear, and to compose original music. $15/student for 2-/3-child lessons. $30 for single student lessons. 3-child lessons last 45 minutes. All others last 30 minutes.

I offer individual and discounted group piano lessons (to help parents afford lessons for 2 or three student lessons.) In my lessons students learn to play by ear, read music, compose original music, and even to improvise. I try to keep things fun, and children's lessons involve a lot of moving and interactive computer/tablet activities as well. These resources and activities are available for adult or teen lessons as well, but not required.

About Kepa
Hi! I'm Kepa Freeman and I'm a musician/educator/composer/tutor/songwriter based in Waldorf, MD who's offering a few different services on this site, but one thing is consistent: I work my hardest to give fun/engaging lessons that guide my students to success.

In terms of credentials I have a Master's of Arts in Teaching in Special Education (Trinity Washington University) and a Bachelor's of Science in Music (Temple University). I'm also a licensed Special Education Teacher for grades K-12 in Washington, DC. On the musical side, my musical credentials can be heard here: www.broadjam.com/kepafreeman.

A little about my experience as a teacher. I've spent the last 5 years working as an elementary Special Education Teacher. Before that I was a Music Production Teacher. Before that, I was a teacher's aide for a Special Education
High School. a Substitute Teacher, and a Tutor. Overcoming challenges to show my students success is what I do!

I hope to work with you soon!

Cheerful and energetic teacher with several years of teaching experience and over 18 years of performing experience. I teach my students technique, artistry & musicianship, music theory, music history, composition, sightreading, and improvisation. I believe in a wholistic approach to music that expands beyond the boundaries of the keyboard. In order to understand the piano, you must also understand music as a whole! I firmly believe that that the key to success in learning how to play the piano is learning how to become your own teacher. Many students don't realize that 99% of the work is done at home. Unfortunately, most teachers don't teach their students how to practice, resulting in very slow progress and a bored and frustrated student. I give my students the tools they need to learn quickly, which improves their focus and motivation, and most importantly allows them to have fun! My curriculum focuses on classical music, but also incorporates other genres like jazz and pop ...

About Sarah
I am a pianist and light lyric soprano. In May 2017, I graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in College Park. I received my B.M. in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Mayron Tsong and my B.A. in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Linda Mabbs. I am a CAPA scholarship recipient and a member of Pi Kappa Lambda. I have maintained a private piano studio since 2014 and also teach additional skills such as music theory, music history, improvisation, and sightreading. I am excited about introducing children to the beauty of music and believe that learning an instrument positively affects individuals in all areas of life. Listening to, practicing, and performing music equips children with important skills that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Since the age of 8, I have also been an active performer and competitor
in the Washington Metropolitan Area. At the age of 15, I débuted with both the Capital City Symphony and the JMU Symphony Orchestra in performances of Liszt’s Totentanz. I have won numerous awards and competitions in VA, MD, and D.C. In 2010, I placed 2nd in the NSO Young Soloist’s Competition and performed at the Kennedy Center Mainstage. In 2013, I won the Golden the Voices of America Competition and performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. This year, I won the Mary Graham Lasley Scholarship Competition in Alexandria, VA and as a result will be performing the Barber Piano Concerto with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra in their next season. In past years I have also performed at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Atlas Performing Arts Center in D.C., and the Alden Theater in McLean, VA. One of my primary passions is new music, and I have premiered numerous compositions at the New Music at Maryland recital series. In 2013, I was invited to collaborate with the New Street Dance Group in a performance of two new works for chamber ensemble at the FringeArts Festival in Philadelphia. In future years, I hope to frequently premiere new works on an international scale.

Let's work together! I will teach you more than the basics of piano, but how to experience the passion and fun of being a great musician. You will do notes, theory, and technique like most students. However, I will guide you in the ways of how to truly perform as well as appreciate every key the piano has to offer. Send me an email and let's have fun!

About Javier
I am a choir director for my local church and have been since I was 19. I started playing piano when I was 6, but I never really got into it until several years later. My parents pushed me to play piano my whole life. It took a lot of practice and encouragement, but little by little, and with the help of some amazing teachers, I have become a very talented piano player.

I graduated from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelors in Architecture, and a Minor in Theology (what does that have to do with music right?). I constantly motivate myself to teach piano and learn as much as I can which places me in strong position of talent, while my degree is not in Music, I challenge anyone to perform with as much passion as I have for music.

A few years ago, my choir was awarded a silver medal in a competition among choirs in the area.
My talent and natural leadership skills were lauded by the audience and the judges. Since then, I have only improved in my skills and wish to give those skills to others.

As a well-experienced student and instructor, I have acquired several (nearly 50) piano books that I use to constantly refresh my skill set. I am happy to use and donate any book for prospective students, so that they may follow my footsteps into true piano playing.

Everyday, I listen to a different song and work hard to learn it on the piano and develop chords, melodies, or just various forms of accompaniment .

I also enjoy singing as much as possible, to keep my voice as well-maintained as my piano. When I sing and play together, it is an entirely different atmosphere that I create and know any student is capable achieving that as well.

I am happy that my family kept pushing me to play because I learned to maintain a positive attitude. Now I play with so much passion and fun, which very few teachers can do.
