My son was always very excited for his lessons. She is extremely patient! Works great with hyper active children. Extremely impressed how she would calm him down even on days where he couldn't stay still. Very encouraging when he was frustrated. She is pleasant! 100% recommend!

My 10 year old daughter has been taking singing lessons from Robert for 4 months. Her singing voice has improved immensely as well as her confidence in her own voice. She has thoroughly enjoyed each lesson with Robert and always comments on how quickly the lesson time passes by. She also talks about how much she has learned from him.
Overall we have both been thrilled with the experience of taking lessons from Robert.

Patient, kind and effective teacher

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Robert! We've worked together for over a year and I can say my voice has improved as well as secondary benefits like my breathing. What I love about Robert is how he teaches, he helps my confidence, courage and faith in my abilities. In my work I use my voice everyday, often I am speaking in front of a large crowd. The lessons have really helped with speech, volume and enunciation. BTW I do all my lesson with Skype, which I believe is a great way to do it.

Liesl S.

Chesapeake Beach, MD

About Liesl

I graduated from Grove City College in May 2010 with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education.

I am currently on a Parental Leave of Absence from my position as Director of Choral Activities at Patuxent High School in Lusby, MD where I conducted 4 choirs, taught Guitar and AP Theory, directed the Glee Club, and served as Musical Director for the school's Spring Musical Productions.

American writer Joseph Campbell said, ”The job of an educator is to teach students to see the vitality in themselves. ” I believe that my role as your teacher and adviser is to help you find your voi
ce and connect to your instrument. Music is a universal language that takes our human experience to a higher level and I hope I can help!

*** Lesson Details ***
Music should be enjoyable, so my number one goal is to bring joy to you, the performer, and to your potential audiences. I encourage you to communicate with me about your musical preferences and goals in your role as a music student.

My lessons follow a format each week. We begin with warm ups and technique building, followed by an in depth look at grade appropriate music selections that appeal to you, the student. Through practice, you will be given the tools necessary to reach mastery on each selection with dedicated practice.

In a vocal setting, warm ups consist of breathing exercises and vocalises. I teach in depth classical technique and explore the physiological aspect of vocal production and how it relates to classical music as well as to jazz and pop genres. We will work on vowel shape, vocal placement, and breath connection that will give you the tools you need to be successful in a variety of vocal genres.

Skill building assignments will be assigned weekly to help you form good practice habits that will set you on a pass towards success!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons will be held in my home where we have a digital piano available. Quiet neighborhood, available parking, one dog.

*** Specialties ***
I am currently on a Parental leave of absence from Calvert County Public Schools where I worked full time as a choral director and specialize in choral performance. My Chamber Choir girls qualified for the Maryland State Choral Festival in the Spring of 2012.

I specialize in classical singing technique.

Liesl easily imparts her love for music to her students.

Liesl interacted well with our 9 year old granddaughter. She kept her on point and interested in learning the various skills necessary for a new student to sight read music. Our granddaughter had had three previous teachers who gave in to her excuses for not sticking to task or practcing. Liesel is upbeat about music and imparts that to her students.

great teacher, I love the way he interact with my son, making sure they understand each other. he takes the time to understand how my son learns and listen to his questions. He finds the easiest way to bring the lesson across and ensure that the practice time is chosen by my son so he feels he is a part of what going on and he his responsible for his learning. I met Randy many years ago when he was playing with the Rogues at the MD Renfest. He is a great teacher and taught me some bodhran basics in the little spare time he had between shows. He is very patient and encouraging. If you are interested in learning the bodhran, dumbek, djembe or full kit, I highly recommend that you seek him out.

Being an older student with a different learning curve than younger students, Randy tailored my lessons to meet my special needs. He was patient beyond expectations when I was having trouble grasping a difficult concept. He is a true professional and dedicated to passing on his musical knowledge. I had to stop taking lessons for a while due to a broken arm, but I plan on continuing them in the future.
