Alignment is the basis a great technique. Each person is different, and knowing how to help them release unwanted tension is critical.
The vocal folds are the core of the sound, and must be given the utmost care and consideration. Proper hydration is essential. They are also muscles, that need strengthening exercises and time for them to change. This will improve your vocal endurance and range. As a highly trained voice teacher, I can hear if the vocal folds are behaving in a healthy and efficient manner. It is essential that your teacher understand how to care for these delicate components of the human voice.
Vocal resonance is how opera singers are heard without amplification. It can be enhanced through awareness and coordination of the various portions of the vocal tract. There are two main components that help magnify the sound. The pharynx, also known as the throat, and the soft palate. Having an open throat and lift soft palate not only help your boost the ...

When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Two months of lessons have proven very productive. I have seen great improvement in my daugher's abilities and confidence. Barbee is mild in her ways yet tenacious; always pushing to the next level. I like that I am able to sit through the lesson. The classes run on schedule. Barbee is responsive to calls/texts and is flexible with schedule changes."

Kristen is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is always in touch with her students and teaches well! I love singing lessons and wish I could do them every single night!"

And btw, Congratulations on 9 nominations for your songs and albums for the 2017 JPF Music Awards. All your hard work and nights at the studio brings you a great harvest. >>>> peace <<<< light, harmony, blessings of the heart."

She makes the lesson fun and listens well to make sure I understand her instruction and important points.
Great teacher!"

Just kidding. There is no secret recipe. Really, the best and most basic way to keep your voice in shape is to hydrate. Water is key to a great singing voice. So you should definitely keep some water around while you’re singing right? That’ll keep you perfectly hydrated! Not quite. Its good to have water around when you sing, but it won’t actually reach your vocal folds. Whatever you drank about two hours ago is what is really doing all the work. So try to drink at least …

If you've been taking singing lessons for a while, you've probably practiced several silly warm-up exercises. You know, the ones where you're making funny faces and sounds, saying nonsensical phrases, and so on. All of these exercises have one common goal: to prepare the voice and help you learn to keep your mouth and throat open. Read on as Seal Beach instructor Carl B. explains why vowels are important for this very reason... A few years ago I coined a phrase that clarifies the import …
