Neguine teaches piano to my two children, ages 8 and 6, and she’s been wonderful. She comes to our house and immediately the house is a calm friendly place to learn music. She’s patient with my kids who love piano but are still little, and she has a good sense of humor when they want to try something a little quirky. They also have been making great strides with sightreading, and their eagerness to learn more has only increased. Neguine also does not rush the kids: If a child needs to repeat part of a lesson for another week as she is good about making sure kids reinforce what they’re learning, which is something I appreciate, and my kids have learned to appreciate that too. I highly recommend her!

I encourage all of my voice students to sing varied pieces to expand their ability. Everyone is on board after a few lessons as the results they see are noticeable relatively quickly (depending on experience).

Whether you sing R&B, Country, Musical Theater, or Pop...I'll encourage you to sing at least 1 classical piece. The skill needed to sing a classical piece well will enhance your ability and carry itself into the other genres. Trust me, I've had serious rock singers tell me after a few lessons that they're convinced & only want to sing classical with me because the results show in their other music naturally. We really just get straight to work. I am of course, flexible.

60 minute lesson would be:

20 minutes of warmups
20 minutes of a classical piece or musical theater piece
20 minutes of another genre

30 minute lesson would be:

15 minutes of warmups
15 minutes of a piece

If I have a student dead set against classical, I will still encourage them to do a ...

I am an adult and have wanted to learn how to play the violin for many years, since I am able to work from home- I decided to invest in online lessons, Mary provides very specific and helpful feedback, she is encouraging, she has helped me to understand the basics to build a strong foundation, I practice between 2-3 times weekly (30 minutes at a time), the difficulty level has progressed along with my skills, she is able to demonstrate techniques, Mary has helped me to fine tune my own abilities, I am left handed so use of the bow has been more tricky for me- she was able to guide me through this difficulty and explained how I should be practicing in order to improve my skill level, I am enjoying learning a new instrument and look forward to advancing my proficiency with the violin, I enjoy the lessons- helps me to think differently- I have always enjoyed having music in my life

"His resume and experience speaks for itself. Steven is well informed. I had an audition to prepare for in just 3 weeks and I've never felt confident that I would ace it and leave the judges in spades. I learned the importance of vowels, dip thongs, having a steady tongue that's out of the way for proper air flow and so much more. You want to be good, put your money where your mouth is. This is the guy for you. He's a bit pricey but he's worth EVERY penny and you get what you pay for."

"I am not a singer. I just wanted to be able to enjoy singing so I decided to take singing lessons with Eric. Before the first lesson, I was super nervous and I even regretted the decision to sign up for it. After the first lesson, I was so glad that I made that decision! Eric was very patient, knowledgeable and encouraging…just like other reviewers said. I had fun and I am looking forward to the next lesson!"

"I've meaning to write a review for michelle for some time. I took singing lessons before and had a really crappy experience. I was very nervous to sing in front of someone and the past teacher made me feel even more uncomfortable. I decided a few months ago to try again and figured if I couldn't find someone near me, online lessons would be the next best option. I slowly went through all of the teachers and chose michelle based on her good reviews. Michelle has been a blessing. Im slowly learning to be able to sing in front of others and really developing my voice which were the two biggest challenges for me. The lessons are great and I get so much out of just 35 mins. Wish I had more money to spend more time with her. Regardless of your ability if you want a comfortable, knowledgeable, experience go with michelle!"

"I began taking lessons with Rachel almost two years ago because I love musical theater and singing but have never had any music education or voice classes. I was very nervous coming into my first lesson as a complete beginner with no natural talent, worried I would be too embarrassed to sing. But Rachel is so kind and really puts her students at ease - I have never felt self conscious in front of her! She has a great approach to teaching beginners.

Due to Rachel’s teaching and encouragement, I recently auditioned for a local production of a musical and got a part in the show. I never dreamed I would be good enough to be a part of the musicals I love watching and I am having the time of my life in rehearsals! I am so proud of my progress and a lot of that is due to Rachel’s skill as a teacher. She helped me with song preparation, writing a resume, and how to behave during the audition, as well as obviously all her work to improve my tone, diction, and song interpretation skills.

I couldn’t read music and in the beginning had no interest in learning, and Rachel never made me do tedious music theory work instead of doing the “fun part”... BUT through our lessons I came to understand what value being able to read music had and became self motivated to learn more about reading music and some music theory. Now I can play my melodies on the piano and have a greater understanding of music that has enhanced my singing practice! My point here is that Rachel has a very holistic approach to teaching and I have picked up very important skills as a musician without feeling frustrated! I also very much enjoyed learning some classical songs which I wasn’t sure I would like - but not only were they great to work on to learn better voice skills, they were super fun.

I am so glad I began lessons with Rachel. I would recommend her to ANYONE looking to become a better singer. She has made singing so fun and enabled me to do things I never thought I could! I’d give her ten stars if that was an option."
