I have been teaching professionally for the past six years. As a student who struggled myself in nearly every aspect of education, I understand the importance of individualized learning. As a teacher and performer, I look to find relationships between the emotional and intellectual facets of music. By doing this, I try to uncover the mystery of violin playing, allowing my students to gain an understanding that will last with them forever.

Every single student posseses the potential to fulfill his or her violinistic dreams. I cater my teaching around the goals of each student, while still instilling a high artistic integrity.

Though I center each lesson around building a superior technical foundation, duet playing, the theory of harmony, and aural skills are integral parts of my teaching. I strive for my students to develope a beautiful, in-tune, pure sound that can directly connect to their own emotional palette.

About Thomas

Hailed as "delightfully spirited, [with a] rich tone" (Cleveland Classical) violinist Thomas Cooper has appeared as a soloist with several American orchestras, including the Colorado College Festival Orchestra, the Coeur D'Alene Symphony Orchestra, the Credo Baroque Orchestra, the Dubois Orchestra

Rainice has helped me grow tremendously as a musician and develop a greater appreciation for percussion. I've studied with her for two years now and she is always super welcoming and positive in her approach. Rainice has helped me organize my audition preparation, overcome various technical issues I was having--especially on auxiliary percussion and marimba, and develop a better ear which has been particularly helpful for playing in orchestral settings. She has also given me lots of helpful advice based on her experiences in the field. Highly recommend!

I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, per

Ha-eun has been an amazing violin teacher. I played violin for several years throughout my childhood and then stopped playing for about 10 years before deciding I wanted to learn again. Having not played for so long, I wasn't really sure what I remembered or what my skill level was at.

Ha-eun has done a great job evaluating me and picking pieces that are challenging but still do-able. She is really friendly and encouraging and has made re-learning the violin an enjoyable experience.

For personal reasons, I have to take a break from violin for a little but when I re-start lessons, I will definitely pick Ha-eun as my teacher again if she is still taking students at that time!

She really knows her stuff when it comes to music and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn violin.
Miriam
I was exited to start my first lesson and it was great! Ha-eun welcomed me warmly and I think learning with her will be successfull and wonderful at the same time. Looking forward to my next lesson!

Incredibly knowledgeable in physical techniques required for guitar; He is a master of all the subjective hands-on knowledge you can't learn from a video or a book, like individual hand/wrist placement, strength building, muscle memory, string bending. His curriculum is excellent for developing the raw ability to play as desired.

We initially did lessons in person then transitioned to Skype once I moved away. I found no difference between in-person or Skype.

Before I became a student under my teacher, I thought that my previous teacher was good. However, looking back, my first teacher (Not Robert Grant), was horrible. The one distinct difference between many of the casual guitar teachers and Robert is that he has a great curriculum for teaching kids and adults the proper techniques, different styles, and practices for playing the guitar. I remember on the first lesson, he immediately commented my wrong form for my picking hand. Since then he has assisted me in correcting bad technique, pursuing my strengths and passions, and expanding my knowledge in music theory, both specific for guitar and for music in general. His curriculum is equal if not better than many college courses for music(classical, jazz, etc. courses). I have been with him for 3-4 years now and I find myself greatly improved from when I first started. I would recommend going to Robert if you want to seriously learn how to play the guitar with a brilliantly structured course.
Justin
I've been playing guitar for 28 years and Robert has done more to advance my playing in the last 5 months than anything else I've done over that time. Whether online or in person, Robert has a great mix of laid back attitude with a task-master's approach; he encourages his students to have fun with the guitar, but to take it and their work with it seriously. In a really short time, I've picked up a wealth of music theory and my technique has improved dramatically. Most importantly, I'm having more fun playing than I have in years. I can't recommend Robert highly enough.

After earning my BA in Economics at Harvard, I followed my true passion and began playing music professionally. I'm a Berklee Music College Alumnus, and I did learn a lot there. My guitar heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Jimi Paige, John Lee Hooker, Duane Allman and Dickey Betts. I love all the inspired by the greats, but as well as listening to my favorite guitarists, I also listen to just about everything under the sun, and appreciate all types of music.

Teaching students how to play with bands and read music are both important. I've played over 30 years and taught over 20 of those years. Grooves, coordination, reading and soloing are all aspects of what I teach from mostly my own books. I combine having fun with the commitment of practicing into a well rounded learning experience. I have recitals for students to show off their talents 1-2 times yearly. I'm versatile in teaching new drummers or advanced students. I look forward to our lessons.

About Danny

I've played drums about 30 years and taught lessons about 20 of those years. Each student is different and I've evolved my lessons to accommodate teaching each student. My background consists of all styles of Drumset, marching band, rock bands, soloing and Troopers drum corps. Also playing in jazz,

6 Common Questions About Beginning Guitar

Thinking about taking guitar lessons? It's one of the most popular instruments for beginners! While it's pretty easy to pick up the guitar and start plucking, if you really want to master the chords and songs you hear from your favorite artists, working with an experienced guitar teacher is important. Here, Brooklyn guitar teacher Amit P. discusses six of the most common questions new guitar players have before starting lessons...   1. "Am I too young or too old to start learning …

How to Write a Guitar Solo (And Then Play it With Confidence)

Mr. Crowley. Smooth. Sweet Child o Mine. Let it Be. All these songs have something in common. A captivating guitar solo. What makes a great solo? More importantly, how do you write a guitar solo? In this article, we’re going to dive in and discover what makes great solos and some tips on writing a guitar solo. My influences include lots of 80s rockers (Randy Rhoads, EVH, Slash) and Latin players like Sergio Vallin, Carlos Santana, and Al DiMeola. I tend to use very little effects because I …

How Long Does it Take to Learn Violin?

Wouldn’t it be great to learn to play an instrument in minutes? Think of the musical repertoire you would have! Unfortunately, like many different skill sets, that simply isn’t the case. Learning to play an instrument, as with driving and hitting a great shot on the golf course, is all about practice. The more you practice, the faster you learn, and the better you play. And the violin, a wooden chordophone with a beautiful soprano sound, takes time to learn, just like any other ins …
