Hello,
I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 1999, and 2001, respectively. Before an arrival to US, in 1994, I studied Jazz Performance, Electric Bass Major, and Classical Composition, at Moldova State Conservatory, from 1988 to 1993, respectively.
I was raised in the family, where music is an essential part of its daily life; my father, Grigoriy, before his retirement, was a military band trombone player, and, quite naturally, I was exposed to music, and encouraged by my parents to learn playing an instrument of my choice, from my early childhood.
My mother, Anisia Kondrat'ievna,
possesses both beautiful vocal abilities and perfect pitch , although she has never had a chance to develop her natural gifts any further. But I have heard my mother singing, and these moments remain one of the most touching and impressive musical experiences, that I have ever received, and remember to this very day.
Only after a considerable life experiences, abound of trials and mistakes, at the age of twenty five, I have come to a clear realization, that music remains my greatest passion, and that I would have to become a professional musician. With help and support of friends and colleagues, I have entered Community College in Soroki city, Moldova Republic, where I have studied Choral Conducting for Amateurs. I have graduated from school in May of 1988, having written a few instrumental and vocal compositions of my own, and, quite unexpectedly for myself, was invited, that summer, to visit Moldova State Conservatory, with the prospect of audition for the Composition Major. After the meeting with the Chair of the Department, I was offered an opportunity to be accepted to the Master Degree Program in Composition, provided I will have completed two years of preliminary studies of Music Theory, Music Harmony/Voice Leading, and many other related disciplines.
Why do I bring all of these facts to this Essay? I know for the fact now, that I was not ready for what was awaiting ahead of me, back then. There was no way, that I could cope with the demands of Composition Program curriculum. But I have had love for music, that my parents have implemented in me throughout my childhood; I have had natural abilities, that Heavens supplied me with: and I have had a chance to make my dream a reality, providing I do everything that I will have to, during the following years of struggles and study.
The decision was made, and my studies have begun. I have come through every mistake, defeat, and mind-barriers imaginable, and if it would not be a continuous stream of professional help and support, that I have received from my numerous teachers, mentors, and professors, along the years of study, my goals could never be attained to any modest, but real degree.
Whenever I have a chance to teach, tutor, or assist other musicians with their study, my past experience always reminds me, that any person may experience some difficulties of various nature with the learning material, from time to time, and that those difficulties should be addressed by student's teacher with the highly individual approach, however time-and effort-consuming it may be. Patience and respect, in regard to the students, have become as important aspects of teaching to me, as those of discipline and professionalism.
My studies have come to an end; I see now, that the world of music is an endless entity, for it has no boundaries, and we all have to maintain our further progress, in order to move to our chosen destinations, and to help others with their own advancements.

I would be more than willing to assist my prospective students with their various musical endeavors, and people's willingness to either play music instruments,take voice lessons, or to study Music Theory/ Musicianship disciplines will serve us as a starting point for our work. Through the diligent preliminary talk we will discuss various aspects of interest that my students have developed in relation to music, so we could plan and design our future lessons according to an initial discussion. My job and responsibility will be to make an intelligent assessment of my students' natural abilities for the given subject of study, to create vigorous learning atmosphere during our meetings, and to give my students professional instructions to the best of my humble abilities, for the benefits of their musical , aesthetic, and personal development. I will encourage my students to learn as much as they can, at the given moment, but I will not ever attempt to exceed people's natural capabilities. Participation in Music with love and fun should be as rewarding and valuable to the music amateur, as professional performing career ( with its highly demanding standards) stands for classically trained musicians. During our study sessions, we will work upon the goals and tasks that we have discussed at the beginning of our meetings. I graduated from SUNY Purchase with a BA in Studio Composition in 2007, and from Hebrew College with a Masters' Degree in Jewish Education in June, 2016. I have been working in after-school, Hebrew school, camp, and other supplementary educational settings for the past ten years. Most of my students are learning piano, and I also have a few Hebrew students. My Hebrew students are either studying for their bnei mitzvah, maintaining their conversational Hebrew, or learning for the purpose of competence of services or Torah study. My piano students have ranged from age 4 to young children learning Classical pieces to teens learning to play the songs they like to adults working on their songwriting and improvisation. My strengths are improvisation, music theory and ear training, accompaniment of popular songs - rock, theater, pop, folk, etc.

My first lesson was everything I hoped for from start to finish. I haven't played piano for many years & wanted to begin by using a keyboard as a learning tool--to recapture dexterity and reading ability. I emerged with a better grasp of basics & even a little music theory--exactly as I had requested. Itai is a wonderfully patient teacher & I am looking forward to next week.

Ricky is an amazingly creative and inspiring teacher.

Ricky has been teaching my daughter for last 5 years. My daughter is now 15 years old. She already played piano for a couple of years before Ricky started working with her and at that time was getting disinterested. We were looking for someone who would bring that interest and spark back into her playing piano. I was looking for a special teacher who can teach basics of improvisation and accompaniment to a young child. After talking with several potential teachers, we decided to work with Ricky.

Ricky has proven to be an amazing teacher for my daughter. He is patient, creative and able to adjust to the child’s needs. I was amazed when couple of months after my daughter started working with him; she was already improvising and playing really cool pieces of music. That kind of teaching has inspired my daughter to continue playing piano for the last 5 years. She has accompanied two of her friends singing at her school talent shows and graduation ceremony with encouragement and inspiration Ricky has provided her all along.

Ricky frequently encourages my daughter to pick her own songs she would like to work on. Ricky has a strong knowledge of music theory and has incorporated that in his lessons. I love that my daughter is learning music theory, improvisation, accompaniment and reading music all with the same teacher. It is not easy to find a teacher who is so creative to include all of these in his teaching method. I would highly recommend Ricky as a piano teacher for any age.

My name is Michelle, and I'm an "older student" at the internationally renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. For years I was a professional, full-time cellist and music teacher in Southern California.

I have had the opportunity to do so many cool things with music over the years! I get to travel to other states, play in beautiful places like Carnegie Hall, give lectures at music schools, play in music videos with famous rock bands, even record for video games like League of Legends, and cues in prime time television! Wow, how lucky am I? It all seems surreal. How did I get to do all of those cool things?

It's because I had so many awesome, loving, caring mentors who were there for me all of those times I got down on myself and felt like giving up. Those moments on the road to fulfillment ar
e huge stepping stones, moments I will never forget and always have to lean on when I am filled with doubt. The power of an encouraging word of a mentor is priceless, and I believe the blessings I have are a testament to the presence of compassionate mentors in my life.

I've been teaching music for almost ten years, reaching hundreds of brilliant kids since I started teaching. I've always tried to be for my students like those mentors who were there for me.

My teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a connection between music and happiness. The necessarily includes loads of encouragement, fun, the occasional happy dance, discovering musical intuition (basic improvisation and listening), a holistic knowledge of music (basic theory and history), anxiety management, and life-long lessons about the value of concentration and hard work. I believe in getting to know my students personally, and usually take some time out of every lesson to catch up on my students' lives. This may seem like a waste of time, but in fact is extremely important for the student to feel as though they belong in my studio and, in a broader sense, the world of music.

My 9-year-old son has been taking cello lessons from Michelle for the past 1.5 months or so. I find her to be an excellent teacher. Michelle shows a genuine interest in my son, asking him about how he's doing and has the excellent ability to break down complex musical concepts into small, teachable increments. Not all teachers can do this and Michelle does it very well! She is encouraging and never demeaning, but is careful to point out weaknesses and models how to improve. She keeps the lesson going and packs much into 30 minutes. Her rewards program for younger students is highly motivating for my son! I have a BA in Music myself, and would highly recommend Michelle!

Michelle is a great teacher. I just feel I can make progress and really can learn from her class. Even though it is just my second class with her, but i love to have her classes. I can feel that every class she has some plan and know what kind of information should be covered by the class. Even though I am adult beginner, she treats me seriously to really teach me something. And every small thing, she will explain to me and make sure i can understand. It is very important because even though i am an adult, i am still the beginner and know nothing about cello. i love her class a lot and think i can really keep learning with her. BTW, her class is also very interesting and i can feel that she is a very experienced cello teacher.

I've been playing the banjo for 13 years, beginning in my hometown of Marton, New Zealand. I very quickly fell in love with the instrument and have spent a lot of my time practicing, performing, teaching, recording and collaborating with other musicians ever since. As a teenager, I was given the opportunity to travel to the United States where I attended banjo camps and got to study with some great banjo players (Tony Trischka, Noam Pikelny Alan Munde). In 2011, I graduated from the New Zealand School of Music with a BMus, majoring in Jazz Performance on the banjo. I moved to Boston shortly afterwards to pursue a career in music and have kept a busy teaching schedule privately in Boston and worldwide via Skype. I also perform throughout the United States with my bluegrass band, Mile Twelve. I'm very thankful to have met a wide spectrum of

~ About the lessons
I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building strong technique and a knowledge of the bluegrass banjo repertoire. Topics we will cover include Scruggs style, melodic style, single string technique, transcribing, arranging tunes, music theory and jamming or playing well with others.

We will start with talking about how to hold the banjo, tuning the banjo, playing with fingerpicks and how to read tablature. Then we will work through your first tunes in the bluegrass style gradually learning more tunes with harder techniques such as slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs etc. I take into account each students interests and goals so we will work on specific songs you request or licks you'd like to learn. You will have slow, medium and fast recordings of each tune we work on in the lessons as well at the tablature for that tune.

I knew BB was the real deal when I hired her to record banjo on my first album 4-years ago--an intelligent player with a driving sound and warm personality. Mona knows what she's doing and is very kind. Not only are the links that she sends you during the lesson helpful but she explains when you'd use the words and helps you understand the appropriate situations for when you use them. She is very friendly and a wonderful teacher that will listen to your questions and answer them and her answers are never halfhearted. I completely would recommend her as a Japanese tutor/Instructor if you wish to learn how to speak and write Japanese while still having that relaxing environment.

Paola Del Negro made her debut at the Teatro Juvarra in Turin at the age of 9 years. In 2001 she graduated from the Conservatory "N. Rota" (Italy) with a master in Piano performance. Hi! My name is Colin Lester Fleming - and I am first and foremost, a musician. I grew up falling in love with records and playing drums in rock bands and orchestras. I was first chair All-State in high school as a percussionist, and started my official musical journey playing in orchestras and studying percussion. I went to Boston University on a full-ride for this.

Really though, what I was studying was sound. I was always fascinated with sound and specifically with how it is people recorded it and played it for the world. This passion and curiosity for recording ended up pulling me into the studio. It was when I transferred to Berklee College of Music that my passion for recording met some education! I studied Music Production and Engineering at Berklee, and my love for recording was cemented.

I spent (and still do spend!) as muc
h time as possible in the studio honing my craft. I have my name on many projects in the Boston-area, New York City and LA as producer, engineer, mix engineer, and assistant engineer. I am also an experienced and skilled audio technician, and I make, sell (and repair!) analog recording gear.
I am constantly finding bands to record so we can both play in the studio together - the band in the room, and me in the control room!

Like I said - first and foremost I am a musician, and I want to make music, I want to share the gift of recorded music and share my tools and toys so we can all create music and art in the best way possible.

I have been playing the cello for 12 years, and in those years I have experienced many different approaches to teaching. No two students are alike, and I cater every lesson to the student's personal needs. I have a Bachelor's degree in cello performance from Ithaca College, Whalen School of Music, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

My main goal is to create a fun, engaging, encouraging and inspiring relationship with my students. I often play alongside my students during lessons to create a more comfortable atmosphere, as well as allowing me to demonstrate whatever it is I am trying to teach. At times in my cello studies, I found practicing to be difficult because I wasn't playing repertoire I wanted to play, rather, playing only what my teacher felt was best. I have taken those personal
struggles and applied them to my own teaching style. While technique and standard classical repertoire is incredibly important to a students development as a cellist, I like to incorporate music that the student is passionate about as well, whether it be pop music, folk, rock, you name it! I think it is really important for a student to make their own choices in their musical development.

At this point in my career, I am most passionate about chamber music. I find when I'm playing alongside other musicians, I feel the most comfortable and can express myself openly. As a chamber music coach, I strive to help a group connect, both as musicians and as people, so they can perform passionately and experience all of the fun that small ensemble music has to offer.

I'm a professional 7 string guitar player, singer, songwriter, arranger and orchestrator, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors in Classical Composition.

My family is impregnated with musicians both professional and amateurs hence, Brazilian music is a big part of my background. I try to mix both worlds with creativity and originality and you can check the result of that at my band Breculê whose album called "Vidas Volantes" I've produced, composed and arranged.

Since my late teens I've recorded and performed with a vast array of musicians which allowed me to develop my guitar skills to a large array of rhythms. I've also recorded with several artists in New York, Boston and different places in Europe.

In Brazil, I've won state and national prizes of composition and arrangements.
Right now I'm producing my own al
bum and just finished a series of arrangements for different artists in São Paulo, Brazil.

If you're interested in going deep into Brazilian music, I have all the tools necessary for that.
Students will be able to learn different rhythms, chords and melodies using written music, chord sheets and specially their ears.
I really like to focus on developing my students ears so they can trust themselves and feel comfortable playing any kind of music.

Classes will be held at the comfort of my living room in a quiet area of Brookline where we will have access to all the material I have on Brazilian, Classical and other styles of music.
