About Mark

I am a lifelong lover of music and education. I will use my 41years of performance experience to show students how to play guitar, bass, or sing, but more importantly, how to enjoy those things! I believe music is, first and foremost a source of joy, and my lessons are designed to bring that abo

Unfortunately, yesterday was my last lesson with Mark, as I am moving to Guam. I would definitely not be giving up my weekly lesson with him if that weren't the case! I've learned so much in the short couple months taking lessons from him. I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level. Very helpful and kind. :)

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it may be selected from the western classical, musical theatre, and popular rep based on the student's goals and learning needs with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

I have been singing since I was two years old. Growing up I was in a family gospel band and performed at community events and fundraisers as well as in church. I studied Opera and Classical music for a time and have performed everything from Americana to Gypsy and New Orleans Jazz so I know how to work with my voice to use it in various capacities with great control. I am also a singer/songwriter/ performer of contemporary folk originals. I am excited to find your unique voice and style and work together to really make it your own.

Our voice is such a unique instrument, because it is inside of us. It makes the act of singing amazing and hard at the same time, because we all have different instruments and there is no general rule that works for everyone in the same way. When I teach, I always take into consideration the uniqueness of the voice I am working with, and this requires a great deal of attention and sensitivity. I am very passionate about teaching and my goal is to share my passion and my knowledge, in order to acquire the tools to develop that beautiful instrument that our voice is!

About Alessia

I am an Italian -American Soprano, with Master degrees in piano and voice performance. I have been teaching piano and voice for the past 10 years. I teach italian as well. It is such an amazing language to learn! I believe that it is never too early or too late to develop a new talent. I love mus

I came to Alessia's lessons with little experience using proper vocal technique and admittedly as a voice student well outside the usual age range - which meant that we had to work on unlearning some long standing bad habits. Alessia has been extremely patient in reinforcing the elements of good vocal technique. At the same time, she is great at communicating what she wants to see me work on and how well I'm succeeding in those areas. And most importantly, I can hear the improvement in my singing! Highly recommend, especially for those interested in singing musical theater or classical pieces.

Singing is closer to me than any other instrument. The downside of that is you can feel everything, both good and bad. With students,I always seek the key to unlocking the best singing experience

~For young singers I find music they love and make singing as easy as possible
~Intermediate students usually need solutions to problems; I offer those and help find performance opportunities
~With advanced students I coach for technical mastery and deep musical sensitivity

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Hello beautiful singers! My name is Hannah and I have been steadily training for the past 15 years, specializing in vocal pedagogy. Through years of training in both the professional world and extensive education, I firmly believe that the key to easy and lasting singing is in healthy vocal production. My desire is to transform the voices placed in my care through the simple science of muscular development, and transform hearts through the repetition of them seeing what they are truly capable of.

About Hannah

I am a professional singer, a signed singer/songwriter with Destiny Music Records, and a worship leader at my congregation, where I also teach my students! In addition, I am the residential Music Director for Rich Theatre in Virginia Beach. I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in vocal p

"better singing progress!

I think the singing lessons with Aryls are amazing! I can feel and hear my voice getting fuller and louder and my self feeling more confident as I sing. The lessons are also versatile because I can apply them to singing but I can also apply to my own talking voice. She makes singing fun but at the same time, she takes teaching me seriously. What's especially helpful is, since I'm a science person, she explains the science behind the voice, which helps me look at the voice on a whole different level. I would definitely recommend her to anybody, as I have had a lot of progress with her."

Do Singers Need Metronomes?

As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice...    Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a so …
