Music is the biggest passion in my life. I love being able to share that gift with my students, and look forward to their progress as much as my own. I continue to grow and develop as a musician, and love connecting with people through music. My students all learn to love and appreciate music, theory and performing as I share my knowledge and expertise.
I have degrees in Violin, Viola and Vocal Performance, that I earned while on full scholarship for music. I started violin as a young child with the Suzuki Method and later added viola. I began singing professional gigs while still in high school, and was the youngest member ever with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus at 17. I also have extensive experience singing in non-classical groups and bands and am comfortable performing and teaching musical theater, pop, country,
opera, operetta, and church music. With solid vocal technique my students are able to cross genres with ease, and sing whatever inspires them musically.
I currently play as a principle violinist with the La Jolla Symphony, and have also played as a section viola for the LJSO, sung with the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Symphony. I was concertmaster in several symphony orchestras and have played as section leader for viola in numerous groups. I also play in and manage a string quartet and am also currently coaching small group string ensembles. My siblings and I have played in our family string quartet for over 20 years, and still perform together. Most recently I was chosen to record a new song Glow for Disneyland's California Adventure World of Color Winter Dreams.
I am comfortable teaching with various different methods, and cater lesson plans to the individual student. With over 18 years of teaching experience, I have taught students that vary in age from 3 to 75 years old, and am very comfortable with teaching children and individuals with special needs.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument or voice, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play/sing introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing/singing multiple songs.
*** Travel Equipment *** I have a violin and viola that I bring to assist in teaching lessons. I expect that the students provide an instrument and their books. A keyboard or piano is essential for voice students for vocalization. A student need not know how to play piano in order to take voice lessons.
*** Specialties *** Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest. With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, I use other books to supplement scales/technique.
Betsy is a wonderful violin instructor, and we found her sense of play, imagination, balanced with the need to instruct a good fit for our three year old daughter. Thank you Betsy for your patience and flexibility!

Betsy was my daughter's viola teacher for almost 2 years. She was consistently fun, nice, supportive, knowledgeable, and professional. We recommend her highly.

I like to teach in a style that is functional and interesting. Students will be doing a variety of activities at each lesson. The focus will be determined by their needs.
As students become more proficient in music their enjoyment of musical activities will increase. The success of completing various levels of musical achievement will carry over to other lifetime skills.
*** Lesson Details *** I will work with each student depending on their individual needs. We will strive to produce steady improvement in player proficiency.
*** Travel Equipment *** Student should have a music stand and instrument
*** Specialties *** I like to teach based on the individual. I have taught group and private lessons. The materials I use are varied, with an emphas
is on scales, theory, and also some duet playing. I also like to incorporate some music history into each lesson. I feel that each student needs to work from known to the new areas. I often use supplementary materials (solos or small ensembles) to reinforce my teaching.
Kay is awesome. My daughter loved her. She is very patience and kept Victoria engaged.

Kay is very knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. She is very encouraging and never makes me feel dumb when I hit a sour note. (As a beginning beginner, that happens a lot!) I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time!
Danny is a voice development/performance coach, recording artist, singer, published songwriter and motivational speaker. Danny has to work in professional acting, singing with various local bands, improvisation live, acapella groups.
Danny has been a voice teacher since 1999 and has learned that the best way to develop a voice is by isolating a vocalists range and working as a team to strengthen what needs developmental work and also reinforcing long-term knowledge of longevity.
There is no one size fits all. Each student has a custom plan developed on day one with timelines and short/long-term goals. Think of it as personal training, but for the voice. There are areas to think about;
-Blending -Range -Control -Riffs and Runs -Multiple registers and how to use each one -How to transition between vocal registers -How to sin
g around vocal break (Passagio) -Vocal mixing -Twang Each technique can be demonstrated and taught by your instructor in a gradual progression.
These classes are best suited for students who are goal-oriented and who already have proficient knowledge of singing/vocal technique as a recommendation.
My First lesson was outstanding, we picked up and move pretty wuick. Taught me about the voice and how it works, Danny is very adaptable to your needs and knows how to find your sweet spot. Great motivator as well. Highly recommended.

Great 1st lesson
July 14, 2017
This was a great lesson. He knows his stuff and can really develop a person. I did 20 minute lessons to start, but honestly the more time you can the better. He taught me way more than I expected I could learn, but I could tell there's so much more he can do with more time. My lesson was as long as it took to drive there but it was worth it even for how short it was. I'm doing longer next time for sure.
Danny's really great to work with. He's very skilled and I'm glad he's teaching what he knows because I'm pretty sure he keeps himself busy with a lot of projects. I highly recommend lessons with Danny. It's fun and comfortable because he's a great person and funny and easy to be around even if you haven't taking any lessons on singing.
I love sharing the knowledge and techniques I've learned through years of training and performing. Lessons are so much more than just learning the notes. Everyone has a unique perspective and way to express their feelings through music. I help my students embrace their artistry while learning. I have extensive training in music and vocal pedagogy that gives me the ability to teach both voice and piano. I hold a Masters in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of North Texas.
Whether you want to have more confidence singing karaoke or play Beethoven. I can help you reach those goals. We will build a repertoire that is appropriate for your age and ability. Over time you will gain greater control, endurance, and confidence.
VOICE LESSONS *The vocal folds are the core of the sound, and must be given the utmost care a
nd consideration. Proper hydration is essential. They are also muscles that need strengthening exercises and time for them to change. This will improve your vocal endurance and range. As a highly trained voice teacher, I can hear if the vocal folds are behaving in a healthy and efficient manner. It is essential that your teacher understand how to care for these delicate components of the human voice.
* Vocal resonance is how opera singers are heard without amplification. It can be enhanced through awareness and coordination of the various portions of the vocal tract. Using this natural resonance will make singing in any style more comfortable.
*The most important part of the singing is emotion. Anyone can sing words, but if you don't know what they mean or how to express them they become nothing but white noise.
*Selecting the perfect songs for your age, voice type, skill level, and interest is really important. I will help guide you in finding the right choices for you.
PIANO LESSONS *Alignment is the basis a great technique. Each person is different, and knowing how to help them release unwanted tension is critical.
*Building hand coordination is essential to playing piano. A variety of agility and strengthening exercises will help you gain greater control and comfort in playing.
*Articulation and phrasing is how pianists convey emotion. By Understanding the different colors available, a performer can create a dynamic and moving experience.
*Selecting songs for your skill level and interest is important. Playing music you love will make your experience more enjoyable.

Even with a bit of technical difficulties it was a good lesson. We are enjoying working with Ms. Rachelle
I have been teaching privately since 2010, when I accepted a position as a graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University. My responsibilities included teaching private lessons to undergraduate percussion majors and coaching percussion ensembles. I began teaching students from middle school through high school age around the same time, and my students have since included a number of adults.
I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels of experience, as they all bring something unique to their lessons and challenge me to adapt to their varied styles of learning.
My daughter was shy at the beginning, but Stephen was able to warm her up and get her talk. Even she didn't learn a lot, she is excited about the new class coming next week.

I was passionate about music when I was younger, but I never had the tools to get where I wanted. Music was always a mystery to me and I got stuck learning from tabs and not stepping out of my circle of knowledge. It wasn't until I pursued music seriously that my love for the art really took off. I suggest doing the same! Let me help you get there quicker!
I received my associates degree in music from Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, and I will receive my Bachelors in music from San Jose State University Spring of 2019. Hello! Are you interested in learning the Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, or Old Time Fiddle style of playing violin? I can help you! I have been teaching professionally since 2009, and I have loved every minute of it! I specialize in teaching music for violin / fiddle by ear and music notation. You will learn how to acquire, set up and tune your instrument, as well as regular maintenance. Lessons will start with posture and bow exercises, then you will learn short, simple fiddle tunes. You will gradually progress into learning more advanced songs/tunes. Eventually, you will be able to jam with other musicians. We will have fun fiddling!
I am so glad that I took lessons from Ashley! I had been playing for about a year and a half when I started my lessons in January of 2018. We had hour-long sessions once a week for about a year, but the time always felt too short! We usually learned about a song a week, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how quickly I picked it up. Since I could already read sheet music, I mostly learned by ear, and Ashley did a wonderful job with slowing the songs down and helping me repeat them until I could play by memory. Now, I'm really glad I learned through ear training because it's an invaluable skill to have! I also really enjoyed playing harmony with her -- so cool. She always had songs hand-picked for me to learn, or, if there was a song that I really wanted to be able to play, she would help me with that one. Ashley is the best -- such a sweet, patient, and encouraging teacher! She even offered to have me play with her on stage! If you have the chance, take lessons from Ashley!!!
"Brent is a great piano teacher. My son has been taking lessons from him for almost 2 years. He is great at reinforcing fundamentals which is critical for
kids to have a strong foundation in music. He is good at motivating my son w/o pushing him unnecessarily. Also he is very open to giving parents the tools to help children practice away from class. Most importantly he makes learning piano fun."

"I studied music theory with Brad my senior year of high school, and it was the best decision I could have made! Brad fully prepared me for college-level t
heory at a conservatory, and I have excelled as a performer because of the great theory background Brad provided me with. He knows music theory inside and out, and he is able to adapt his teaching skills for any student. Thanks for all your help, Brad!

"Lucas has been working with my daughter for nearly a year, and she's really loving it! As a typical 6 year old, she doesn't have the longest attention spa

Properly preparing your voice is a crucial step to having a successful performance; however, it's not always about scales and arpeggios! As a singer, your entire body is your instrument - so you'll want to make sure you're fully warmed up, from head to toe, as well as mentally. Consider adding these outside-the-box vocal warm-ups to get the full effect:
1. Avoid Certain Foods and Drinks
Try to consume as little caffeine as possible before doing your vocal warm ups, and avoid ice cold drin …
