About James

Early Guitar Studies & Pit Orchestra Performances (1995-2002) I began taking guitar lessons at the age of 11 with blues/jazz guitarist Tom Castonzo, a frequent performer, bandleader and teacher in and around the Chicago area. My studies with Tom lasted for many years and covered various musical

Have been teaching myself guitar for two years; Jim has shown me I'm ready to move up a level. His lessons (I've had three so far) are fun and he tailors them to what I want to play. Jim provides written notes summarizing the lesson and guiding my practice for the next week. And he plays guitar beautifully. Makes me hope to be good myself someday.

I think Lisa is a wonderful instructor who provides clear instruction and also knows pedagogy. She starts with a step-by-step approach to build a foundation. I am an older adult and her warmth and good sense of humor help, too.

I couldn't ask for more in a teacher. I am a newbie to the cello and Lisa made me feel very comfortable and also, her teaching style is very clear, logical, starting with the basics and building step-by-step. She has a good sense of humor, too. All said, after only my first lesson, I think my learn a new trick: playing a song or two on the cello. Deb Bisacchi, MEd, MSW

It is important to have teacher, student, and parents work together to see the accomplishments happen in the future. I make the lessons meaningful, so that my student can retain the information and practice effectively at home. My ultimate goal is to have my student think critically and listen carefully, so that they can become their own teacher.

About Richard

I started playing the violin when I was 12 years old. After practicing the violin productively, I was able to join the Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra of CA. I played with the group for 5 years. I also joined other community orchestras such as: Bellflower Symphony, Los Angeles Valley College Symphony, M

"I took lessons from Laura when I was younger and I'm 18 now and she was so great! I wasn't too involved with singing, but her lessons brought up my confidence and I learned so much from her and I wish she was still available to me. She definitely knows what she's doing and is capable of teaching all ages to help them get better at what they love to do. I took lessons for singing, stage performance, and a little piano before she left for California. She's the best teacher I've ever had to this day, and is very nice, encouraging, supportive, and she smiles a lot, which is comforting. She's a brilliant singer, musician, and overall artist. 10/10 recommend. :-)"
