I have been playing the saxophone for about 17 years now, starting from when I was in 5th grade. I have gotten to play throughout middle and high school, as well as college. I've played alto, tenor, and bari sax, but I prefer to teach alto saxophone. Music, and the saxophone specifically, is a great passion of mine, and I would like to help instill that passion in others. Although I am new to teaching, I have a deep understanding of how a saxophone works and how to teach musical understanding.

About Shane

I'm passionate about music and about sharing my knowledge with others. Everyone can benefit from music and learning an instrument. Specifically, the saxophone is easy to begin learning, and can be very technical at advanced levels. I am still learning new things almost every time I play.

I have nothing but good things to say about my lessons with Ray, he's very easy going and he teaches you the theory behind the music as you're progressing so you get the full experience, he's a great teacher and I look forward to more lessons with him

Ray is a very knowledgeable and skilled piano instructor. He's especially good at finding a balance between making sure that I understand concepts already covered, and challenging me with new ones. I love that he teaches music theory concepts and shows real-life examples of how it's used in music genres that I'm interested in. He also makes "dry" material much more palatable by showing me how to practice things like scales and chords in novel ways that keeps things interesting. I recommend him highly to adult beginners.

I've played alone and in ensembles for over 25 years. My lessons will start at your level. What do you want to accomplish? What music do you want to play? You'll learn the basics- bow control, intonation, vibrato, shifting positions. What you play with those skills is up to you- that's what makes music enjoyable!
*Note: at this time I am only taking on intermediate students, as I can only teach lessons online at this time due to the pandemic. I would consider anyone who has been playing for at least 1 year to be intermediate level.

About Crystal

My name is Crystal and I've played viola for over 25 years. I can teach both violin and viola. I play professionally and just for fun. I have a bachelor's in music from Vanderbilt University where I studied with Kathryn Plummer. l love teaching people of all ages how to make music!

"Exceeds expectations

My daughter Julia has been taking singing lessons with Danielle since July. Julia is in second grade and this is her first time taking singing lessons. Danielle has devoted so much time to researching good vocal exercises and music selections for a young singer and also to learning the songs Julia was interested in singing. Danielle always follows up within 24 hours with the audio for the lesson and an encouraging email. Danielle is very patient with Julia and takes a genuine interest in her. She listens to the little stories Julia likes to share with her and remembers details of what Julia shares, and has even taken a little extra time to teach Julia a little about playing the keyboard. I can't say enough good things about Danielle. She is a fantastic teacher and a lovely person."

"Matt is a true professional!

Matt teaches my 10 year old on drums and has done an amazing job. He has instilled the basics and foundation of drumming while still holding the interest of my son. At the same time he is developing his ear and teaching him how to play and adapt to different styles of music.

I highly recommend Matt for all ages of drumming kids and adults alike."

"Russ is a truly exceptional individual and very knowledgeable in all aspects of music theory, production and the industry. Not only is he an great at what he does, but he can also relate and impart that knowledge onto others - a skill that is surprisingly rare among high-caliber performers. The price per lesson seems higher than average at first glance, but I feel that the speed and amount of knowledge you acquire per dollar is actually lower than that of other instructors. Really.

He is also active in the industry, so the skills he teaches are current.

I take lessons with Russ online through Skype for EDM production in FL Studio. He is always punctual and promptly communicates if anything comes up. His teaching style carefully balances the need to provide guidance, while allowing freedom for individual artistic development. Every week, I start a composition or track analysis project that applies what I've learned in previous lessons, and I will submit it to Russ to discuss things that went well and things to work on in the future. In this way, you are not just being lectured, but you are actually learning to collaborate with an exceptional musician. I've personally experienced how constant application and feedback facilitates rapid learning.

He certainly is a serious musician, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a fun personality. He is engaging and inspirational.

I would, without reservation nor hesitation, highly recommend Russ to anyone who is interested in professional music production."

15 Struggles Only Left-Handed Guitarists Understand

Left-handed guitarists of the world unite! When it comes to guitar setup and style, you're kind of in your own world... 1. Some people try to change you... ...but you do your own, awesome, left-handed thing! There is a school of thought that lefties should conform to right-handed ways and learn to play a regular righty guitar. This works for some lefties, like Paul Simon and David Byrne. For other left-handed players, a right-handed guitar can be discouraging and difficult, and switchi …
