I sing in international houses as an opera singer, and I would love to pass on everything that I have learned over my twenty years of singing onstage. I specialize in classical voice, but good singing technique is universal, and I would be very happy to assist you at any level, from the very beginner to the very advanced. My core vocal principals are breath, alignment, placement, and last but definitely not least, joy and love of music. I am also a pianist, and I can assist you with piano or music theory/ learning skills.

Taking a voice lesson is a great tool to break through those invisible barriers and to discover one's voice. Singing for fun is a valid reason to take voice lessons, it would help make singing more enjoyable!

We will cover how to warm-up the voice as well as the mind and the body. You will learn body stretches to get the body ready for singing, proper breathing and support for singing, and of course, you'll learn to sing songs that you want to sing.

Get ready for the most unique voice lessons you've ever experienced. Based on MDH Breathing Coordination, Nicole will do an assessment of your breathing mechanism and relate proper breathing to vocal production. Once the body is ready for singing, proper techniques will be explored through vocal exercises, which will then be applied to song selections. Laryngeal massage also available.

I have been singing with barbershop quartets, classical choral groups, and contemporary a cappella groups for four decades. I teach the classical approach to the voice, which can be adapted to any style of singing you choose.

I have a simple, no-nonsense approach to vocal training, helping students build the vocal strength and coordination necessary to sing efficiently, using principles and exercises learned through over a decade of intensive vocal study in NYC.

Please be advised that I expect students to learn their music on their own (although I'll certainly give you some learning strategies, help with tricky passages, etc.). If you are looking for someone to "teach you the notes," I'm probably not who you're looking for. But, if you want to learn how to sing well and are willing to put in the work, I'd love to help you achieve your goals!

My name is Gretchen Tucker. I have been singing over 20 years. I have experience in a variety of choral settings, I hold a B.A. in music from Keene State College. I am also currently attending music therapy school. I am experienced in singing at weddings, funerals, patriotic, and historic events. My vocal training is popular, Broadway, religious, opera, and jazz. When I teach lessons I care much about the process, warmups, the anatomy, music theory, getting into character, vocal technique, and I have a kind and holistic approach.
