In each lesson, I will identify immediate issues then put you on a weekly regimen to move you toward vocal balance.
I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building technique to improve your muscular strength. After that, I will use a two-fold system of vowels (Catona) and consonant-vowel speaking combinations (Bauer) to balance your voice by training the articulators to work in tandem with your vowel placement enhancing your natural sound, support and create balanced breath pressure.
Specific to learning the Catona Method: This is an intensive vocal work out learning the fundamentals of Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method. We will cover all mouth positions and how to execute each exercise properly. It usually takes two 1 hour lessons to get a grasp on the Basics.
*Please note I do not have to teach you the Catona method, but I highly recommend trying it.*
Each lesson is recorded (mp3) and emailed so you can listen and practice. Practicing is imperative to building your vocal muscles,
Hi! My name is Karmyn! Being a professional singer and actress I understand the need for an effective vocal technique that enables you to sing or speak consistently and confidently utilizing all of your emotional range without compromising the health of your voice. I can help you do just that!
My love of teaching began in vocal pedagogy class at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. For over 20 years I've honed my teaching skills in vocal science, ear training, and positive communication to help students do some amazing things!
Therapeutically I have helped students: -significantly increase their range in both directions -dramatically increase control of vocal volume and tone -smooth vocal tone through out the register: paying special attention to smoothing the mix -heal voices of vocal nodules or polyps without the need f
or surgery -heal vocal issues associated with psychological stress -learn how to find pitch easier with confidence -learn how to find their true voice and not imitator another artist -how to be creative in their song writing styles
My technique is two-fold: First, I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method and have used it in my studio for 8 years. It is the most unique and powerful method I have ever used and it works 100% of the time. It uses Italian Vowels with specific mouth positions to scientifically build your voice and make it more powerful, effective and controlled.
Secondly, I use consonant-vowel combinations for your specific vocal diction issue. Many of the exercises come from my training with Master teacher Bill Bauer of Dallas. Many times diction gets in the way of vowel placement. This technique eliminates that problem.
**All lessons are recorded and sent to you via Dropbox or One Drive.
I am so blessed to teach students who have received full scholarships to some of the best music schools and summer programs in the world, appeared on American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Grand Ole Opry, Off-Broadway shows, Regional and National tours, State and National Pageant competitions, and in National Commercials.
I'd love for you to join that list! All you have to do is take a lesson and practice!

I love her personality and expertise. She makes learning easy and comfortable. I am happy to have found the perfect vocal professional.

Excellent 1st lesson. She was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very understanding. Explain things throughly and actually works with you. She's very organized and has a system that seems fail proof. I feel like I will definitely be making great progress and will achieve all the goals that I set out for myself plus more. I don't usually write reviews but this one was well deserved. Definitely looking forward to my next lesson and many more to come
- song selection - key choice - breath control - solfege - increasing throat space by lowering the larynx - developing controlled muscular adduction in the vocal tract - developing more effortless projection through tonal focus - phrasing - understanding and hearing the difference between basic vowel categories.
Lucian W is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston and former faculty member of the Hartford Conservatory. His vocal studies have been with Jacqueline Jarrett and David Baker in Connecticut, Jane Ellison at Loyola University in Montreal, noted operatic tenor Carmine Gagliardi in New York City, and Gina Moretta (whose students have included Gloria Estefan and Jon Secada) in Miami. He studied privately with world famous jazz guitarists George Benson and Chuck Wayne and has had a full time performing career of several decades as a guitarist, pianist, vocalist, bassist, arranger and orchestra leader. Lucian believes that by sharing his enjoyment of making music with his students, he can give them confidence in other areas. That is because, in order to make music, they must go through a process of physical discovery through pr
actice. They are then empowered by experiencing the connections between inspiration, work, and pleasure. He performs, as a solo entertainer, an unusually wide ranging repertoire because of his versatility on guitar, piano, and vocals. Being an accomplished arranger with a vast library of charts also allows him to lead a ten piece orchestra as competently as a trio or quartet. He has performed extensively in New York, Chicago, Cape Cod, and Florida.
*** Lesson Details *** I always try to make lessons as comfortable and enjoyable as possible yet challenging enough to maintain interest. I build lessons around the student's individual interests (specific songs or styles) so that he or she can learn the technical fundamentals in a relevant context. My own curriculum is supplemented by the following: Guitar: Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Aaron Shearer Classical Guitar Method Piano: Alfred's Basic Piano Course , John W. Schaum Piano Course Voice: Jeffrey Allen's Secrets of Singing, Nicola Vaccai Practical Method
*** Studio Equipment *** Hardman baby grand acoustic piano OptimusMD1600 electronic keyboard Crate TX50D guitar amplifer
*** Specialties *** - Singing lesson time is generally divided 50/50 between voice building and repertoire. I accompany vocalists on both piano and guitar, teaching the melody notes as they are sung along with the piano. Then, once the melody is learned, I often switch to the guitar with just chordal backing. The acoustic guitar is also softer than the piano and lets the singer hear their own voice better. For voice building, I use my own concepts plus approaches of famous voice teachers like Jeffrey Allen, Seth Riggs, and Anthony Frissel. - I am very experienced performing all styles of guitar and can cater to the student's specific area of interest, whether it be rock, folk, classical, or jazz. - With piano, I work on fundamentals of reading and technique. Learning basic harmony and chord construction starting with triads (3 note chords), the student can soon read single stave lead sheets (a form of music notation widely utilized by professional musicians) as well as the grand staff. This approach trains the ear and makes learning how to play popular songs much easier.
As a vocal coach for the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Boychoir Academy and the Sweetwater Music Academy I have taught students of all ages and experience levels. In addition to teaching, I am a classically trained professional vocalist who has sung and recorded around the world in pop, jazz, rock, original and classical music.
I have recorded and performed music for brands and channels such as Old Spice, UPS, Proctor and Gamble, VH1, E! and the Oxygen Network but what I enjoy most is helping students develop and appreciate singing ... no matter where they are at on the journey in a flexible and fun way.
Please message me any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
I am a professional vocalist who regularly performs with orchestras, rock bands, jazz bands and as a singer/songwriter. I teach beginners to professional touring artists and can break down the seemingly complex vocal techniques in simple to understand concepts and exercises. My focus areas are breath, placement and freedom from tension in order to increase your efficiency, stamina and flexibility between registers and musicality. (See my online tutorials for a quick idea of what it might be like to work with me)
I have a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan and have worked professionally from Opera to Pop. I started my professional music career at the age of 10, traveling the world with the American Boychoir School in Princeton, NJ. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I worked as an instructor and vocal
coach for the Grammy Award Winning Pacific Boychoir. I also sang professionally for ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Clerestory, American Bach Soloists and San Francisco Pocket Opera.
I am currently a vocal instructor for Sweetwater Music Academy, music director for the Jesters (a theatre ensemble for people with developmental disabilities) and I sing for hospital patients as a Parkview Healing Artist. I have taught grade levels K-8 in private schools so I am accustomed to all age levels.
As a songwriter I have composed and performed music for MTV, VHI, E! and the Oxygen Network, and have acted on commercials for Southern Comfort, Old Spice, & Anthem Blue Cross.
I am also the songwriter and front man for the original regional RootsRock band, Fernando T. & The Wickersham Bros and have established myself as a teaching artist for young audiences through the Carnegie Hall Link Up Concert Series.
I look forward any questions you may have and hope to help you or your child find creative fulfillment from the most unique instrument in the world- your voice!
[PLEASE NOTE: I will be teaching exclusively online from June-December 2017 period and am happy to squeeze in as many in in location lessons you would like before then]
As an instructor Fernando, listens and pays attention to what it is I’m saying and is very good at readying the tone of our class/session and can change things up/move the lesson in a different direction to better help me. Weather I’m just not getting it, or if there seams to be an exercise I get very quickly, he does not waist time in that area. He creates a comfortable space that lets you know it’s ok to do things with your voice that maybe in the past you where nervous to do or even told not to do. This little tid bit right there is why everyone needs to give it a shot, I would highly recommend Fernando!! I give him an A++ Rating.

I had a great first experience working with a voice coach and Fernando. I am learning new ways to engage my voice for public speaking.
The most important aspect of vocal training that I will emphasize is breath support. Connecting to the body when singing will ensure vocal protection and prevent unwanted vocal strain. I will also focus on gaining control through scales and breathing. I would like my students to gain consistency in their lessons each week by providing them with new challenges and helping them to gain new tools when practicing. Applying these fundamental elements of healthy singing into each student's repertoire is the ultimate goal in these lessons.
My name is Christina and I am very passionate about the vocal arts, specifically Opera. Opera was a surprise in my life that I discovered in college. I am now currently pursuing my MM degree in vocal arts at UCLA. The classical technique can provide a great foundation to healthy singing, ensuring a long and healthy vocal life.
Along side opera and other genres of singing, I believe basic knowledge in piano is extremely beneficial in improving musicality and an understanding of each piece. Piano greatly improves sight reading and ones ability to learn music quickly and efficiently. It can allow one to develop an understanding of harmony and context within each unique piece of music.
I would love to help and guide those interested in music, specifically classical voice, opera, musical theater, and piano. I would love to share the gre
at joy it brings me with others and pass down what I have learned over the years. I have completed courses in music pedagogy and education alongside my degree, and believe in shaping my lessons around each individual's learning style so that each student may continue to grow while having fun. Helping each student develop their own unique musical identity is one of the main goals with these lessons.
always hits the right note - literally and also in terms of the support she gives x

I enjoyed working with Christina. She was very adept at identifying areas in my vocal skills that could use some improvement and then offered solutions to that end. She also happens to be an extremely talented singer. I definitely recommend her services and look forward to working with her again.

Hannah was a fantastic teacher- I was only able to be in LA for a short period of time but managed to have a very productive and useful singing lesson with her. She was very personable and friendly, while able to pinpoint areas to focus on and gave me a lot of great techniques to work with to improve. I'd definitely return to lessons with her when I can.
March 28, 2018
Hannah has been amazing in helping me learn how to properly use my voice as well as warming up for shows. She is incredibly understanding and makes you feel comfortable. Not only that, but she is a warm, sweet, and hilarious person to be around. I would recommend her to anyone!

Singing is a very personal and transparent art form. Performing takes skill. It takes practice, commitment and fearlessness. I believe anyone can learn to sing with applying learned skills in these ways. It all comes dependent on the artist and time, but I believe in you and it can be done. Lessons: It is very important to feel comfortable when learning something new so that you are not afraid to fail. Getting over the fear of failing is the initial part that will free you to experiment with your voice and really grow. You will find a safe space here to do that. In our lessons we will work on vocal agility, range, improvisation, healthy singing and healthy projection, diction, harmony, different genres and music theory. I am so excited to get to know you and your voice and how much you will grow!
Leah, a teacher, singer/songwriter, musician, entertainer and Berklee College of Music graduate.
She loves teaching and loves her students. Her main joy in teaching is watching her students grasp a new understanding and appreciation for their desired art and growing in their skills and talent. She loves seeing her students overcome obstacles. In her lessons, Leah sets the tone for care and a safe space to truly grow fearlessly. It is important to grow in confidence in your craft. In lessons, she covers setting a foundation, different genres, confidence, warm-up exercises, vocal techniques, ear training, music theory, harmony, performance techniques, audition preparation, range, improvisation, agility, freedom and more. She focusses on a few things at a time and has her students grow into other areas to work.
Musically, she provides
sounds and smooth tones of Jazz and Soul. Her latest EP entitled SonKissed is Jazz influenced music with Neo-Soul vibes and a positive message about love and life. She has been singing around Boston and New York and writing and recording new music. She has great things in store for her in the near future and much music and passion to share with the world.
Originating from Henderson, North Carolina, she grew up singing in school, church and choirs including the Raleigh Girls Choir of Raleigh, NC. Taking singing and piano lessons grew her love for music. She always had a fondness of jazz music starting at a young age, as her father would play jazz music. Studying music has led her to perform in recitals, concerts and festivals such as the Mozart Music Festival with The Capital City Girl’s Choir in Vienna, Austria, to study and perform abroad in Valencia, Spain, to graduate from Berklee College of Music and to continue writing, performing and growing as an artist. Leah also enjoys being involved in and performing in community events as she gives back. It is very important to her to help others as many have helped her.
She gets much of her inspiration from influences such as Jesus Christ, her parents, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Dianne Reeves, Lisa Fischer, Sammy Davis Jr., Sade, Anita O’day, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Adele, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Mary Mary, Robin Thicke, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Esperanza Spalding, Miles Davis, Al Jarreau, Nancy Wilson, Ledisi, Sounds of Blackness, Take 6, Gretchen Parlato, and Quincy Jones just to name a few.
Leah was so knowledgeable and personable! After my first lesson, I’d say that she did a great job of explaining concepts that I typically struggle with, in simple ways. Her passion for teaching and her skill at singing both show! I’m so happy I found her!!
June 26, 2018
I have worked with Leah for quite some time now for vocal training. I have heard a major improvement in my voice with regards to vocal strength and breath control. I would reccomend Leah for vocal training.

Leah has ability to spot what your voice really needs to improve and she's a great vocalist .
As an artist, I want to help you discover your true authentic voice. I'm a vocal performance Berklee College of Music graduate, and former top 20 contestant on NBC's The Voice. I believe, as artists we crave real life advice and experience and I want to offer just that. I've been working as a professional session vocalist, songwriter and performing weekly with live bands all over Los Angeles. I believe the voice is a very strong, resilient muscle but must be taken care of with daily practice.
I am a professional singer/song-writer. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. Over the last ten years, I have been performing all over Los Angeles, Boston, Florida and even Hawaii.
In 2013 I was an artist on NBC's "The Voice" making it to the top 20 on Adam Levine's team. Soon after the show, I relocated to Los Angeles where I now work full time in music. I work with some of LA's largest entertainment companies, gigging all over California. I also work in Artist development, session work and songwriting for other artists. I have a strong foundation in vocal technique. I believe in building (or re-building) a healthy foundation of good technique to avoid developing bad habits that could potentially hurt the voice or hinder growth.
My voice students should expect to grow with each lesson. I believ
e ridding the body of tension so that the voice can be free is key. Through teaching healthy habits and technique I believe any singer can uncover their authentic voice. Aside from technical singing, I'm even more interested in you connecting to the song and telling the story in a meaningful, powerful way.
I have a wide variety of genres that I work with. I have a particular passion for soul/r&b and pop but I grew up singing everything from country to jazz. I believe that I can help any singer establish good technique, no matter the style.
I look forward to working with you and making you an better singer!
"Very professional, patient and encouraging with our 8 year old."
"My daughter has learned so much with Julia in the past few weeks. It's been a true pleasure to witness the progress. They have worked on sight reading, to
ne, physical posture, and many other aspects of singing and sound production. Julia is a very caring and supportive instructor. She is full of enthusiasm and humor, and this shows in her choice of singing materials. We look forward to having more lessons with her!"
"Best Teacher Ever!!!
I've been working with Jillian for a few years when I needed a voice coach for school choir. I can honestly say she is one of my fav
orite teachers! She's so much fun and whenever I feel like giving up she encourages me through it and I don't feel like its stressful work although I am learning so much. She's such a sweet person and non-judgemental which I think is so important for a teacher especially a singing coach. She's also very patient which was important for me since I was/am a beginner. Jillian is also unbelievabley talented but she doesn't rub it in your face and make you feel like youre not as good, which has been my experience with other voice teachers. If youre looking for someone who is relatable and does so much for you bc she wants to see you succeed then you should definitely choose Jillian as your teacher. I hope I can work with her forever because she's that awesome!"
"Camille is super fantastique!"
"Great and very nice teacher. Very helpful and helps makes my daughter feel very comfortable and makes her want to go back and learn more"
"Very much enjoyed my first lesson with Molly!"

"Chau was amazing! Very friendly, welcoming and made my daughter feel at ease, instantly! My daughter left feeling so inspired and excited about going back
! We drove across town and it was absolutely worth the drive! I highly recommend her!"
