Jonathan S. Winchester, VA

About Jonathan

About I am a Florida native, active doctoral student, teacher and practitioner. My career includes performing and recording as a guitarist and teaching subjects such as music or math. Grade-school academic strengths in mathematics represent my enthusiasm for the subject. The math equivalent in music can be considered music theory, which is another passion of mine. I hope to take these rounded characteristics to teach and influence others with what I have learned in my education and career thus far. Education & Teaching Experience: I am currently pursuing my Doctorate of Musical Arts from Shenandoah University and hold a Masters of Music from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University (all degrees with a guitar performance emphasis). I also have a ...

Highly recommended as a singing teacher

I've been taking singing lessons with Donna for about 4 months. I'm a middle-aged guy who took up guitar a few years ago and realized that in order to be a well rounded musician I had to be able to sing. Before I started I was a complete disaster - really no ability to match a pitch with my voice, and very little vocal control. I have made huge progress through working with Donna. She just 'knows what to do' as a vocal teacher. Perhaps as important, her friendly and supportive attitude makes what could be very tense and humiliating (trying to sing when you can't!) into a fun and satisfying experience.

Brent H. Leesburg, VA

About Brent

My name is Brent and I love to teach! I do a wide range of lessons, from music to history, and my greatest joy is simply to see students make progress. I've been teaching in classroom settings since 2008. I went to University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and earned a degree in History in 2010. I've played drums for over 14 years and picked up acoustic and bass guitar along the way. I teach at the Leesburg Music and Arts store and do lessons through them. Some of my favorite artists are John Mayer, Bon Iver, LIGHTS, Kaleo, Sleeping at Last, Jamestown Revival, Foster the People and Five Iron Frenzy. My teaching style is very interactive and encouraging. I like to get to know my students and their goals, rather than give a cookie cutter approach. I believe we all learn differently and I ...
