I will work with you so that as a singer, you will be able to sing through a greater range with more consistency. As a performer. you will become confident that your voice will deliver time after time.
About Teresa
I was born into a family of musicians. We must have had every style of music floating around every family gathering. I would roam with delight among the Mariachis, Rockers and R&B singers and musicians in my family. As early as 3 or 4 years old, in an effort to get me to quit bugging them, they beg

I've been teaching singing and vocal performance for over four years. I utilize the Kodaly method for vocal performance, starting at the basic level of tonal scales (major, minor, harmonic, melodic, etc.) and Solfege application to serve as a foundational base; rhythm syllables such as "ta" and "doo". Additionally, foundational breath control is applied, as it is very important for the singer to learn how to control their breath and support their sound. From there, repertoire mimicry is applied, or what I call "phrase building," as it is important for any singer to be able to effectively create vocal phrases.

Singing has been my passion since the age of 4. The voice is very special - it empowers us to live the lives we desire, communicate with others, and express ourselves. It is my mission to help others discover and develop their voices, thereby freeing them to use it as they choose.
Beyond the functional voice, I teach performance skills, musicianship, music reading, foreign language diction, phonetics, and so much more! I have a Bachelors in Music Education, a Masters in Performance, and a performance resume ranging from jazz to opera.
I love working with singers of all ages and experience levels. I know how to engage with children and adults alike for a productive, enriching musical experience, so whether you are a sings-all-the-time 2nd grader, a recreational karaoke buff, a devoted choral singer, or an operatic baritone, you have a place in my studio.

I guess I went into singing lessons rather naïve because I thought my greatest challenge was singing on pitch..... I strum my guitar and want to be able to sing songs too, but was always out of tune, so thus never sang. Well, JoAnn has not only helped me find my pitch, she has opened my eyes to the whole process of vocalizing. Pitch is critical of course, but resonance and sound quality are equally as important, and as she helped me with my resonance the pitch problems began to disappear! In four short months I am a vastly better singer..... And through the comfortable no-pressure process I am also learning general music fundamentals which have helped tremendously. I highly recommend JoAnn for shy and insecure beginners like me, and, from what I saw and heard at our recent informal recital at her home, she works just as well with accomplished singers."
