I've been teaching singing and vocal performance for over four years. I utilize the Kodaly method for vocal performance, starting at the basic level of tonal scales (major, minor, harmonic, melodic, etc.) and Solfege application to serve as a foundational base; rhythm syllables such as "ta" and "doo". Additionally, foundational breath control is applied, as it is very important for the singer to learn how to control their breath and support their sound. From there, repertoire mimicry is applied, or what I call "phrase building," as it is important for any singer to be able to effectively create vocal phrases.

Milton is an excellent instructor! He is very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The guitar curriculum he uses is very good. I have prior musical knowledge in piano, and Milton knows when I need to be challenged/need extra work and when I can breeze through exercises on my new instrument. Lessons are really fun and I always look forward to them. Highly recommended!

My daughter has been taking voice & piano lessons with Randy for about a year now. Within a few months after switching to Randy, the improvement in both her piano playing & in her voice was very noticeable not only to us (her biased parents), but also to her music & performing arts teacher at school and others. Randy is an excellent teacher who knows how to bring the best out of his students. My daughter loves her lessons with Randy !

Randy is a great singing tutor. He’s patient, flexible and encouraging. My son is a little reserved boy and not comfortable at expressing his feelings, and Randy helped him reading through every phrases before the singing. That was very helpful. Thank you Randy!

Amber has quite an exceptional background and clearly LOVES music and LOVES teaching. She makes the lessons fun, but also demands practice and hard work. I felt I improved after just two lessons and I intend to keep on working with her!"

"Corrine's great attitude

My experience with Corinne has been super informative. She is a great listener and quickly adapts to my specific needs. I really enjoy her honesty and her ability to work on many different exercises in a short time. She has a lot of energy and I am always excited during the lessons and after I leave. She has a good head on her shoulders and I really love her style of teaching. I like that she challenges me and exposes me to new techniques, new music and keeps implementing those new lessons every time we worked together.

I look forward to working with her and learning from her every time! :)"

Stop! 6 Musical Theatre Audition Songs to Avoid at All Costs

Selecting the right repertoire is a big part of a successful audition -- but be careful, as there are so many overdone musical theatre audition songs out there. Here, Molly R. shares six songs to avoid... and what to try instead! With musical theatre auditions, often the toughest part isn't the audition itself, but instead making a decision on what to sing. I’m here to help narrow it down by telling you what NOT to sing in an audition -- the overdone musical theatre audition songs. Kee …

5 Excellent Sight Reading Exercises for Singers

Unless you're a career-chorister, the concept of sight reading music is probably going to at best make you slightly nervous, and at worst paralyze you with fright. However, at some point, probably when you join a choir or perhaps go to an audition, you're going to have to face that hurdle. Sight reading comes easier to some singers than others, but it's not some mythical task akin to retrieving a golden fleece; sight-reading, even for the more able, is a learned skill, and there are several sig …

Do Singers Need Metronomes?

As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice...    Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a so …
