Very patient with young children, an outstanding guitar teacher!

Tom has been teaching my daughter guitar for her first year of lessons. She is now 6, and can be moody, very easily distracted and will not sit still for long. To keep her focused, Tom combines harmonica and slide whistle lessons along with her guitar lessons, and it works very well. He also brings in different kinds of guitars (electric and classical) to keep the lessons interesting for her. Every week he reviews what she has learned, and also brings new music and will even write requested songs (using fret # a good approach for kids at this age). He shows up for lessons like clockwork, and she has learned much more than we had expected her to.

Tom is knowledgable, patient and FUN!

Tom lets my son choose the type of music he wants to learn, even specific songs. He also has him work on other types of music in order to improve his technique, yet ensures that its music he likes. As his mom, I am particularly pleased that Tom discusses with him the types of things that my son should practice that will help his progress. Tom is a low-key individual, but has plenty of enthusiasm for his work. My son is always excited about his guitar lessons and thinks the world of Tom.
Felipe G. San Antonio, TX

About Felipe

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile. My name is Felipe Garcia and I am a self-taught music teacher. I began teaching music in 2010 and have loved it ever since. I believe learning to play music can be fun and easy, and I work hard to make sure your experience with music is one that will inspire you to keep playing for the rest of your life, for as Friedrich Nietzsche said, “without music, life would be a mistake.” My experience with music began long ago when I begged my parents to buy me a drumset and they finally gave in and bought me one when I was 14. Prior to that, I had no real experience with music except as a listener. I taught myself how to play by playing along with CDs of my favorite bands and eventually I felt like the drums wasn't enough, so I talked my parents into ...

Felipe has been great. I am learning a challenging new instrument - a 6-string banjo (aka a Banjitar) - which is a banjo/guitar blend. In less than a month I am feeling more confident and comfortable with the instrument. I am looking forward to learning more!

Felipe has been a fantastic instructor! My son is 4, nearing 5, and like most his age, has a limited attention span. Felipe has been able to keep him engaged and has been extremely flexible and easy to work with. He has introduced my son to not only drums, but also any other instrument he shows an interest in. I highly recommend him.

I'm a mid 40's guy who's wanted to play guitar since I was a kid. After a failed attempt in my teens, I hadn't revisited it (unless air-guitar counts) until this year. Fortunately for me, through Take Lessons, I found Rick. He is so very patient, friendly and flexible. The one thing I most enjoy about our lessons is that it's like visiting with a friend for an hour each week - whether we talk about music theory, new guitars or just about our lives, he always is engaged and accessible.

I can't say enough about Rick, he is a very knowledgeable musician, he genuinely cares that you reach your goal and is a really, really pleasant person. If your dream is just to play some of your favorite songs, or to go on to be a professional musician - Rick is definitely who I would recommend.

First rate instructor - fabulous

I'm a 50 something music student who loves guitar but has no particular talent. Rick has been patient with me and his lessons have improved my playing after a short time. I'm playing songs that I would otherwise never attempt.

Lovely lady! She has been so helpful ever since I signed up for lessons with her! I've never taken voice lessons before so she has been showing me the ropes. I have an audition coming up pretty soon and working with Whitney has definitely calmed the nerves a bit, she helped me pick out a couple songs and now I feel like I have a good chance of landing the part! Thank you miss Whitney! <3

I enjoyed taking lessons with Hayes. He is a very motivated professional with the desire in driving his student into achieving his/her goal. He is patient at teaching, and listens intently to the special needs of his students making sure that those needs are addressed and taken cared off.
If there is any Saxophone instructor out there that I would recommend, it will be Hayes.

I have been taking my daughter Summer to Hayes home for several months and I can see her improvement as time goes by. He is very patient and makes her feel relaxed. Summer asks for certain songs she wants to learn and he does his best to find the music. He is a good listener and has well-thought suggestions to help her play better. Summer is 12 yrs. old and a beginner but she is doing well. I would recommend him to any prospective student..

Alfredo is an incredibly accomplished Drummer and musician! His professional musical experience and accomplishments are quite impressive. It's humbling to have someone with his professional music background as a teacher. But don't let his background intimidate you. He is very patient, and has a well structured methodology to teach you how to become a good drummer. Alfredo's technique is not directed to just learn easy groves to play along with music. Rather, he is committed to teaching you the proper techniques that will give you the foundation to become a skilled drummer if you are willing to put in the time. It's challenging, to say the least, but I think it will pay dividends in the long-run. When you are around Alfredo, it's obvious that he "loves" playing the drums, as well as composing and playing other music/instruments. It's also great fun to play your exercises, while Alfredo plays along with you (challenging not to be distracted) on his drum set or bass guitar. Great FUN!
