*** Lesson Details ***
Being a musician is exciting, challenging, and of course, rewarding. Musicians are communicators; instruments of expression. I'm a firm believer in diligent practice habits and learning the fundamentals of one's craft. From there, the music can happen.

I offer a relaxed, comfortable learning environment that is both fun and productive. A stuffy, tense atmosphere promotes timidness, and insecurity, the opposite of the environment I foster in my studio.

Whether you're a beginner with a passion, or a professional looking to fine tune your proficiency, I can help you get to where you want to be. Diligent, concise, uncomplicated, and fun! That's how I teach.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Various keyboards, full 5 piece drum set, full production and recording facility, music scores/sheet music

*** Specialties ***
Classically trained vocalist, but can teach all styles and genres of voice. Recording engineer & producer. Versed in many styles of composition. Session drummer.

I thought Matt was excellent. He not only taught the subject clearly, but he also provided a lot of encouragement - something a new singer really needs!

Peter B.

Stratford, CT

About Peter

I am energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils. I am an expert at identifying the appropriate resources required for a subject matter and then ensuring that they are used efficiently, effectively and safely, always keen on building a strong relationship with my students. Most of my students read and play simple music after 4-5 classes of active instruction.

I posses an extensive classical music and music pedagogy training. All my musical knowledge and expertise was attained in Eastern Europe. I play and teach piano, upri
ght bass, bass guitar and a range of other instruments. Over the years I taught basic piano, the beginner violin, viola, cello and a variety of school instruments such as recorder and xylophone. I also teach advanced music theory, harmony and basics of composition and orchestral arranging required for music colleges. I especially find it rewarding working with beginners and the opportunity to show them the amazing world of listening, playing and making music.

The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic piano repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by European master piano teacher and pedagogues. Also, I can teach the know-how of Jazz and Blues though gradual lessons that cover basic scales and chords up to melody and harmony development.

*** Lesson Details ***
The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs.

With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. From basic piano and stringed instruments, to advanced theory, harmony, composition and improvisation to jazz, pop and rock.

Classes are not based on a single source or book. I provide other exercises in printed form for students to keep and take home.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Two high end digital keyboards, two violins, viola, cello, upright bass, bass guitar and amplifier, music stands, stereo equipment with a large CD collection of just any conceivable music style.. Assorted school instruments: recorder (soprano and tenor), xylophone. Various music charts and a large library of music resources and other books; Extensive e-library and ability to print any required material on the spot. Instant access to many on-line sheet music resources.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Full size and a school grade digital keyboards , bass guitar, amplifier, staff paper and other printed resources, violin, violin parts and maintenance tools and equipment.

*** Specialties ***
Pop, Classical, Jazz, Ethnic and Modal music, Composition, Arranging, Harmony, Counterpoint, Advanced Music Theory

Peter provides me with challenging material to practice that fits both my ability and my interest. Often the music he provides is material that he hand writes. He has a knack for pushing past where I'm comfortable without overwhelming me. I would recommend him to anyone.

I really enjoyed my lessons with Peter, he was professional and kind as I took on a new adventure in learning cello and reading music as and adult. Skype was a wonderful option since I couldn't find any local instructors. There was a delay in sound at times so we would accidentally talk over eachother or I didn't know what was being asked to play, but we worked it out ans overall I would say it's worth it and would recommend Peter.

Tamari W.

Milford, CT

About Tamari

Hi, there! My name is Tamar; I'm called Tamari, informally, and Tamara for the stage, and I can't wait to meet you!

I've been teaching private lessons for many, many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I went to Indiana University's Jacob School
of Music and earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

Tamari taught lessons to two of my daughters. She was patient with them and helped them learn both theory and performance. The recitals were also enjoyable and rewarding. I would recommend Tamari for lessons.

Dylan M.

New Haven, CT

About Dylan

I am a performing musician and teacher who graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Musical Studies. Additionally, I began teaching and tutoring subjects in science and standardized test prep during the summer after 11th grade, helping students grasp fundamental principles of our world as well as achieve more desirable SSAT results. I strive to bring the right balance of patience and enthusiasm into all situations, whether working through beatbox flute grooves or evaluating multiple choice vocabulary questions. In music lessons, I strive to offer as much stylistic and historical context
as possible, so that students are able to gain a broader understanding of given material, as well as an open yet focused path to exploring their instrument. Ultimately, I wish to help students achieve their goals through harnessing their own strengths for musical and academic applications "beyond the page."
