Hello! I have a passion for helping students feel empowered and confident through the use of their voice, whether personal or professional. As someone who has struggled with and recovered from a vocal pathology, I feel that I have a unique perspective on the emotional taxations and challenges that vocal work can bring up. I strive to use compassion and the "love and logic" methodology with all of my students. I am passionate about voice pedagogy and voice science, and use a more anatomically based approach in my teaching, rather than metaphorical.
I received my master's degree in voice performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 2017, and hold a bachelor's in music education which I obtained from Colorado State University in 2013. I am a performing mezzo-soprano in a variety of genres, and I have a passion for teaching many different styles including classical, jazz, and musical theater.
I teach ages 12 and up!

I've been performing music for over 15 years. I've been teaching guitar for the past three years. I like keeping guitar fun! I will work with each student's individual needs and goals. I like all kinds of music and styles so don't feel embarrassed if you wanna learn a Taylor Swift song or Old Town Road. I like pursuing what the student is interested in while still teaching essential skills like strumming, note reading, chords, picking, etc. Reach out and lets chat about guitar!
About Luke

I have been teaching musical theater for over ten years to actors of all ages and abilities. I quite enjoy the process of taking a single song and turning it into a fully staged show. And then adding multiple songs/scenes and putting them all together to create something so diverse and intelligent, and truly magical. From any style of show be it Seussical or Annie, to the in depth difficulties of Next to Normal and Rent. I will challenge my students to bring out their full potential. As many professionals have stated, performing musical theater is the ultimate challenge.

Robert was very courteous, patient and professional from the beginning. I've never sung before - other than in church (and that doesn't count) - so Robert had a huge task ahead of him. He helped me to the point where I'm confident in my future project - - and I will always be forever grateful. I highly recommend him. In fact - he was the ultimate instructor and teacher."

Ready for your time to shine? Get ready for your upcoming choir audition with these tips from Ann Arbor, MI voice teacher Elaina R... Choir songs are all about group mentality. Singing as part of an ensemble, working on blend and teamwork, is very rewarding. But there are also opportunities to get in the spotlight once in a while, and those can be rewarding too.
